Lift weights. If you don't have access to a gym or free weights/machines, there's plenty of bodyweight exercises to do. [/quote] "You are your own gym" is a good bodyweight program. You can download the program onto your phone.

I'm going to be on vacation from mid-December to mid-January. I won't be near a gym so have started doing "You are your own gym" instead of 5/3/1. I'm determined to not come home 10 lbs heavier.

^This. "You Are Your Own Gym" is a great bodyweight program.

Nice rack. Sorry couldn't resist. I have a Weider Pro squat rack. Love being able to lift in the basement. And.......congrats on the 163lb weight loss.

I started resistance training because I wanted to be fit and healthy in my old age. This summer at age 53 I began Stronglifts. I can squat 90 lbs, Deadlift 140 lbs, OHP 60 lbs and Bench 70 lbs. I believe this is what the ladies above were meaning when they suggested resistance training. Great way to lose weight and…

That's a lot of cardio. If you want to mix it up add some resistance training.

I eat a set number of calories a day as well. I like to log my exercise to keep track of what I am doing but count it as only 1 calorie burned.

Stronglifts 5x5 if done properly is a 3 times a week workout.

Find a new gym. That is insulting.

Eat at a slight calorie deficit and lift heavy weights (eg: Stronglifts 5x5). This will help you to lose body fat while maintaining most of you muscle mass. Takes time but it is worth it.

We had two black and white TV's. One for sound and the other for the picture.

Congrats to a fellow 50 + er. We all carry our weight differently. Just for example I am 53 and height 5'7" weight 153 lbs and fit into size 6 jeans. At this point I am more concerned with lowering my BF%.

Retired aka unemployed by choice.

I have a Weider Pro PC3 Power Rack. Came with an olympic bar, a curved bar and various weights from 1.5 kg to 45 kg. I was luck enough to find it at a garage sale for $135. I'm pretty sure it had never been used. It is an older model but I'm really please with it.

This would be my suggestion as well.

So cute. But, that was me 53 years ago. Things have unfortunately changed since then.
-
I started with lower weights. Doesn't take too long to progress to the olympic bar (except for OHP).

I use this app too.

I will just have to make better food choices and skip McDonald's. And for workouts I'll check out your suggestions. Coming back 15 lbs heavier is not an option. Thanks  Just downloaded the "you are your own gym" app on my phone. Looks pretty easy to follow. :drinker:

We will be gone for about a month. Leaving around the 10th of December.

Wendler 5/3/1 + accessory lifts Monday - Tuesday - Thursday - Friday I normally do 8 minutes of rowing before my lifts. I'm getting stronger every day. And I do feel fit.

I highly recommend second marriages. Marrying at a later stage in life (50) is so different to when you are in your 20's. My life was forever changed for the better the day we met.

I weigh 153 and my DL is at 140 lbs. Not too far off.
