I can tell you a couple of things that you have NOT struggled with.....compassion and empathy. If we would all just strive to be kind, I think that we will gain unbelievable perspective into the lives and struggles of our fellow human beings. Give it a go and you might find out that you don't have the wealth of knowledge…

Personally, I try very hard to remember the feeling I had the last time I overindulged and focus on that and not the amount of enjoyment I find in eating the food in the first place. I do, however, believe that an occasional planned treat is very enjoyable if I have mentally prepared to eat it.

I was just telling my husband the other day that I have never had so many compliments in my life as I have in the last month or so! I am hearing everything from "I love your hair" to "your tan looks great". I think maybe people are slow to say "have you lost weight?" because that hints at the fact that you needed to. : )…

That was a big one for me, too!! Keep up the good work.

I have always counted water only. A lot of calorie free drinks (tea, coffee, and crystal light for example) are diuretics (sp?) so they actually work against hydrating your body. I still drink those I just don't consider them in my water calculations.

So, my husband and son were monopolizing the dvd player this morning when I was ready to "shred" so I decided to make up a workout and do it on my own. I did this routine six times with no resting. 5 push-ups, 20 jumping jacks, 5 burpees, and 10 sets of bicycle crunches. Oh...my...goodness!! I honestly thought I was going…

Bump!! These are so great.

I really didn't feel much like doing the Shred today, but my 16 year old daughter inspired me. She got up at 6:30 on a summer morning to go a "fit for life" summer school class that she isn't even enrolled in to do 2 1/2 hours of strength, speed and agility training. I think I can find it within myself to do my 20 minute…

Well, look at you! Getting all efficient and writing it out like that! I am glad you enjoyed it. The difference is probably in the way we entered the ingredients. I'll go with 266 instead of 276. : )

Stingray, yes we are 50 miles down I-44 from Joplin. I have many friends there. It is truly, truly unbelievable the utter devastation they have suffered. I have never seen anything even close to it in my life and I have lived in tornado ally since I was born. But the attitude of survivors and the tenacity they have shown…

Sitting down in a theater chair for an awards ceremony the other day, I was able to tuck BOTH of my arms inside the arm rests and avoided that "I'm taking up too much of your space" feeling with the total stranger sitting next to me.

Choked me up to read your story. Runners are a rare breed and so supportive of each other. What an accomplishment!! Great job!!!

Day one down! I am not sure what I expected, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. With my stress fracture, I could do everything but the butt kicks. I just substituted another round of jumping jacks and jump ropes. Looking forward to tomorrow. : ) Also, any of you can friend request me. I like having friends with common…

I just bought it today, too! And I definitely need the accountability to keep my commitment level up. I am healing a tibial stress fracture, so I am going to do the best I can and adapt when needed.

Okay, I MEANT to say that I like it hot, too! An added benefit of spicy is that it makes you drink more water. : ) I will be trying your pepper sauce recipes.

WHOA! I just "invested" the last hour of my life looking at all of your before and afters. I couldn't stop until I saw every one!! Uh-maz-ing!!! Chocolate sounds disgusting right now. : )

I LOVE to make bbq chicken pizza. Spread flatout bread or whatever you use for a crust with a little kc masterpiece, then shredded chicken breast, red onion slices, jalepenos and a little reduced fat cheddar. MMMM!

I own a catering company and fight this battle all the time! The key for me has been preparedness. Obviously, we have to taste our product and I do so very sparingly. But I also make sure that I have plenty of healthy options on hand for my meals. Since we are chefs, we know how to make things taste wonderful by adding the…

I have several friends who lost large amounts of weight with quick fix methods like that. I am watching now as they put the weight right back on and I am smirking inside as I continue to lose 2 pounds per week!! The turtle wins the race EVERY time I read the story!! Stick with the lifestyle change and ignore them.

Couch to 5k was a wonderful experience for me. Extremely hard, but so rewarding. Do NOT limit yourself! You can do far more than you think you can. And as far as the awkwardness on the treadmill, I hear ya! I was so scared to turn it up to a jog the first time because I was sure I was going to fly off the end in front of…
