265.2 - I lost 4.4 lbs this week!

I wanna play!

Since January I have lost 16-18 lbs (the scale says 18 today but I'm waiting til Saturday for the official!). It isn't as fast as I expected - especially since I'm a big girl. But I'm very proud of the habits I'm working on. Today I ran for 34 minutes. And except for a few weeks off due to an injury and some mouth surgery,…

I would second swimming and maybe suggest biking. When my calf and thigh were hurting a few weeks back I did ten miles on my bike with no problem. It might be good for your knee too - and surprisingly enough bike riding burns more calories than I would expect.

I wish we could walk or bike ride to school, but it's a Catholic school (not a neighborhood one) and it's about 3 miles away. Which wouldn't be impossible on the bike, but the street that we have to travel is crazy super busy. Tonight after dinner we got in a nice bike ride, and tomorrow I'm planning on taking them to the…

I've only lost 16, and everything fits better and/or looser, but I'm not really ready to go down a size. At my height and weight I figure it will be around the 30 lb. mark before I'm truly down a size. ETA: I'd actually love to be able to wear the same clothes for a good deal of the summer if possible. I don't care if I'm…

The aquatic center here is open year round, so maybe we should plan for a few days per week of swimming for him - I know he would do that. Friday afternoons are always good for that sort of thing because they don't have the daily homework to contend with. This summer I'm planning on putting him and his brother into the…

Cook chicken breast (we usually do 4) in a non-stick pan. Remove from pan. Mix in 1/2 cup of orange juice, a tbsp or two of brown sugar, and cinnamon, garlic powder, and ground ginger. Cook until syrupy, stirring well to mix in any crusty bits from the pan. Put the chicken back in the pan and turn to cover well with the…

I total up the number of minutes that I run and use the slowest speed available (5mph) and then I put the rest in as walking at 3.5mph. I was worried that because I wasn't actually running 5mph that it was severely overestimating my calories burned, but I did a few days of checking my heart rate during the running portions…

I'm annoyed that they have scheduled a meeting up at school at 6pm. Because that totally gives me time for all the after school activities and wrangling and to actually make dinner. Right. And I'm a stay at home mom. What the heck do they think working parents can do with something like that? Most folks I know are barely…

We are having "ranch" chicken breasts with steamed broccoli and brown rice tonight. Ranch as in after it's cooked up I toss in some powdered ranch dressing mix which gets a bit crispy and is very tasty. Other nights we have Italian chicken (chicken w/pampered chef italian spice mix) served with barilla plus pasta and red…

Maybe try apple juice. I have pre-teen boys, but even now that is a fool-proof help for them.

I got fitted at the local running store here and it was the best thing I did. I was paying around $75 for NB shoes that I chose myself. I got fitted, and they said I overpronate (I think) and needed more of a stability shoe. So I ended up with some Saucony Guide 4's - they ran me about $95, so it wasn't that much more. I…

If you're doing the new WW plan, are you counting fruit? Some folks are finding that when they are truly eating too much fruit and not counting it, that it is stalling their weight loss. You say a "ton" of fruit - how much is it really? If we can figure out how many calories of fruit you are consuming you can have a better…

I always knew that I would need to be at the top range of the normal BMI range. I'm 5'10" and have a very large frame. My goal weight was already set at 175 which is actually one pound under the range they give for me which is 176-193. I have pictures of myself at 220 where I wear a size 16-18 and I feel like I look pretty…

First thing Saturday morning. I'm in a contest with some friends and we all weigh in on the same day. The funny thing is my weight usually drops if I check it on Monday/Tuesday morning.

That is fabulous! Congratulations!

If you hate it, don't do it! Find something you love. That said, if you want to try to build yourself up slowly, you should try the Couch to 5K program. I've been doing it since the first of the year, and I can now run 2.5 miles at a time and I still have nearly 100 lbs to lose. For me, walking does not get my heart rate…

I'm a convert from WW too. I really like the tracking capabilities on here. Plus the fact that I don't have to spend all my time adding new foods in.

Honestly I think this is one of the nicest forums I have participated on in years. I think like most places, if you are posting a new topic it helps to research to see what previous discussions have covered. But all in all I've felt very encouraged by the niceness here even though I don't post a ton.

@pontprennau - Jacksonville - we have Crisper's here as well - my boys love it! @Nanadena - the new points formula wasn't serving me very well either - I'm doing much better just counting calories.
-
I make my breakfast burritos with diced up Rose Brand Canadian Bacon. Two slices is only 30 calories and goes a long way!
-
Thanks for sharing. It helps me to feel better about the little losses I have each week - and to know their results are crazy!
-
I'm still hanging in there too. I've had an occasional diet soda here or there, but for the most part I've been aspartame free! I think my last one was last Saturday night!
-
@suzycreamcheese - I have my eye on a half marathon on Thanksgiving. I need to look at some training plans to see if it is feasible for me.
-
That's awesome. Shopping in "regular" stores is definitely one of my big goals!
-
I highly recommend the Couch to 5K program - http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml I'm on week 7, and even though I still need to lose a ton of weight - I'm running! I've worked up to about 2 miles at a time and I'm planning on running a 5K on March 12th and I want to run the whole thing. This program has been…

I make low-cal Egg McMuffins. One toasted 100-calorie English muffin, one egg, one slice cheese, one slice Canadian bacon. I use regular sliced cheese (70 cals) and it's only 255 calories - which might seem high, but I find that eating a higher protein breakfast keeps me full for hours. If you're really pinched for…

For breakfast I try to have something with a good amount of protein. A tortilla or two filled with a scrambled egg, some diced Canadian Bacon and a smidge of cheese. Or a low-fat homemade Egg McMuffin style sandwich. For lunch I do a lot of chicken. My favorite is a chicken breast topped with goat cheese & cherry tomatoes…
