@LondonParisTexas I forgot about The Secret Life of Bees. I read the book after seeing the movie. Loved both. I have seen Fried Green Tomatoes a dozen times and read the book twice.. such a great story and yes, total tears at that scene. LOR is not my thing but I have lots of friends who loved the movies and books.

@Katmary71 That's a tough call. If you still have 300 more pages to go, you may want to give it up. There's a lot of abuse and it was hard to read for that reason. However I couldn't put it down because the story was compelling.

It's 1150 pages! Sometimes I think Stephen King is paid by the word?? I hope I can finish before it's due at the library.
-
I'm reading Stephen King's The Stand. I think this edition is over 1000 pages. I read for a couple of hours Nd was only at 6% completed. So far so good.

That's fascinating! Feel free to start a discussion and tell us more. Is there a specific website or book that started you on this journey?

Welcome! Feel free to post any questions..we are here to cheer each other on. What's the 24 week commitment?

Ha! Me too! I try to search their history first, but the ones with near porn profile pics, I just delete.

Go to Groups and search keywords you're looking for. I think there's a sober group. Or perhaps there's a thread named Drinking less or sober February. I know I've seen it somewhere. There are multiple groups based on age - I'm in the Women over 50 Ready for 2021. Groups based on how much weight you have to lose. There are…

@Katmary71 I highly recommend Kristin Hannah's "The Great Alone". A great story set in the 70's about a family (Dad has PTSD from Vietnam) moving to Alaska with no experience. One of my favorite reads of 2019. She has so many others and Firefly Lane is a new movie or series on Netflix. I'm also grateful for this group. So…

I read Fried Green Tomatoes (Fannie Flagg) after watching the movie. Loved both! I read Misery (Stephen King) years after watching the movie. Both were terrifying. Recently, I read Flight Attendant (so-so book) now a series on HBO. I've only made it through a few episodes, but it's not that great..plus I know the ending. I…

Wow! That's fantastic about the selling of your home. I hope the closing is swift and easy. I'm a realtor so I love hearing stories like this. I have had several clients sell and then rent for a year before deciding on a new town or neighborhood. You lose the tax deductions but sometimes it gives you time to find out what…

I did Sydney Cummings 50 min legs on Saturday, 40 min arms on Friday and today a popsugar 30 min cardio followed by 2 short pilates workouts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fiP1q2SWwM&list=PLE5lGVrS3V9fkQPNiioINYCsuDT6r75By&index=11

@GrandmaJackie Thanks for that link. I did a couple of her videos today after a 30 min cardio. A great addition to my workout. I neglect my abs so much!

Right? I had no idea of the Chinese culture. I have definitely learned a lot. I also enjoy, though sometimes its hard to read, the tragic stories of people of color in the U.S. Mudbound, the Underground Railroad, A Lesson Before Dying and an American Marriage all come to mind. I cried a lot while reading these books.

I'm reading Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. Fascinating book about 2 Chinese girls..I'm not sure of the time period. But foot binding is common. And these girls had the feet bound at the age of 7. Yikes! Arranged marriages are common as well. Lisa See is the author and I read one of her other books.. Tea Girl on…

Pot roast tonight. Haven't had that in so long. I know it's fatty. But i am looking forward to it.

Thank you!

I love mashed cauliflower. Steam it til mushy. Add cream cheese, sour cream or parmesan. A good amount of salt as well. Whir it in a food processor. You can also bake it with a parmesan or bread crumb crust. A favorite at Thanksgiving. I'm going to try this instead of potatoes on shepherd's pie.

Thanks

Consistency. One good day does not cure weeks/months/years of mayhem eating. Nor does one off day negate the hard work you've done for days/weeks/months. Same for exercise, once or twice a week doesn't do it.
-
I find that I stick to my eating plan better if I'm working out nearly every day. I used to run and when I had a big run the next day, I made sure I didn't over indulge in food or drink. So, no, weight loss doesn't happen at the gym, but for me it kept me accountable.

I'm becoming a fan of Sydney. I did this one on Monday and today. No nonsense lifting. Her cardio workouts are a bit too much jumping around though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WWPRdwQrgA

Thanks everyone. The showeres at my gym are still closed so I don't have to worry about that. Funny, as soon as I talked about rejpining, my home workouts have been much better. I'm still on the fence, but will likely rejpin soon. As I said I live in a great neighborhood that really adheres to wearing a mask. I've never…

I love it!! Keep going..consistency is key.

Try not to overhaul everything in the beginning. If you're just starting to workout, don't go crazy and hurt yourself. Ease into it, but do it consistently. Better to do an easy routine 6 days a week, then a killer hour workout 3 days a week. As you get stronger, you can adjust your intensity and duration. Small habits…

I also have 20 pounds to lose. I started working out again 2 weeks ago. I have a friend who texts me her workout everyday and I do the same. It's been keeping us both accountable. Come on! We can do it. and remember, it's not motivation, but discipline that keeps us going. At some point, motivation wanes, but if we have…

I did this one today. Fantastic, all strength, full body. I tend to do a few extra minutes warm up before any video because they usually are too short for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WWPRdwQrgA

Great ideas here. @AnnPT77 I forgot anout that thread. Thank you!!!

Stephen King's Misery was fantastic. I've seen the movie several times over the years and finally read the book last year. I'll admit I had to stop a few times to catch my breath. I read his scary ones in HS..like Carrie, Cujo, and a few others. But now I can't do horror. Too scary. I do want to read the Stand but our…

@trooworld the Great Alone was a page turner. I truly enjoyed that one. I still haven't read the Book Thief and Kite Runner. I've never read Dean Koontz. P.s. love your profile pic.
