I've read that site before. As far as I remember they don't promote anything more extreme than intermittent fasting, and they're just a support group for people who like a particular aesthetic... I think they're pretty down on actual eating disorders. Lots of their members are models who'd lose their jobs if they gained…

This. Just eat 10% less than you do now, since that's obviously your maintainance. We use calorie tracking so we can be exact about what 10% is. But if you really really really hate it you can try just eyeballing it.

I think genetics is a factor as well. Most Chinese people I know feel absolutely starved on high protein, low carb diets.
-
The Chinese diet is your standard high carb, medium protein, low fat, low sugar diet. The low sugar part is key: they eat rice with every meal (even breakfast), but in the traditional Chinese diet you have sweets maybe twice a year, and fruit only when it's in season, i.e. 3 months in the year, and even then it's not an…

You lose water weight at the start, and it'll come back as soon as you start eating normally again. For a small, permanent weight loss, you want to be eating only a small deficit.
-
Remember, genes aren't the only thing that run in the family, so do habits! Break out of the unhealthy habits first, and if that makes a difference, disregard the genes.

Yup. I was overweight (am still overweight by Asian standards), I'm 5'10, and I have a small frame. Definitely possible. :)

I'm a sucker for extra virgin olive oil, so I usually just vary the acid I use. Standard balsamic is lovely, but I've recently fallen in love with Spanish sherry vinegar. It's so tasty! 0_0 Sometimes I just have that on salad by itself without any oil, it's so good. Other than that, I like honey and mustard dressing that's…

Hummus! Spicy hummus! Chilli hummus! Peanut butter hummus! ...I think you get my point ^_^ I use this recipe but with the chickpea water instead of yoghurt: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1940690/healthy-homemade-houmous-

I find I can't study for long periods of time without getting hungry. It feels like my brain's using up my blood sugar or something like that. But I just plan around it and eat smaller meals so I have more calories for snacks!

OP, from my point of view, it sounds like your fiance wants to call it off and is giving you one last chance to turn back into the person he thought you were. I agree with everyone else saying to talk to him and ask yourself the hard questions. If the person he wants you to be is the person you want to be, then work to be…

If you're not seeing results do harder exercises. Pick exercises that you can't do more than 10 reps of at a time and do sets of 5-8 them until you can, then pick harder ones. If pushups, squats etc are too easy to one arm or one leg. Also if you're underweight, gain some weight in muscle first, then lose the fat.

Eggs are incredible. They're genuinely my favourite food :) And it's dietary fat that causes high cholesterol, not dietary cholesterol. Eggs are better for you than pretty much all meat.

Actually, it's been shown that BMI is no worse than skinfold tests and bioelectrical impedance. That's why we keep using it.
-
But you already knew that you'd be healthier if you lost weight, that's why you're here right? The ideal range is based on the weight where, statistically, if you lost any more weight it would no longer be good for your health. If we're over that range, that means losing weight is probably going to be good for our health.…

What, the tool that underestimated mine by 5% and said my OH had a negative body fat percentage? :noway:

Any of the below can be an indicator for obesity: BMI 30+ Waist 40+ for men or 34.5+ for women (37 and 31.5 according to the EU, and down to 33.5-35 for Asian men) Waist-to-hip ratio 0.9+ for men or 0.85+ for women Body fat percentage cutoff can be 25%-30%+ in men, or 30%-40%+ in women (most accurate if you can access the…

Well technically the "definition" of obesity is BMI over 30. But usually it just means it has a severe health impact. "Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it may have an adverse effect on health, leading to reduced life expectancy and/or increased health problems."…

I'm sorry, but this kind of comment is why we shouldn't say that BMI doesn't work. 34 inches is basically the waist of an an obese person. According to the NHS, "You have a higher risk of health problems if your waist size is more than 80cm (31.5 inches), if you’re a woman." "Your risk of health problems is even higher if…

It's a pretty good metric if you're a fairly average person. If you have very high/very low muscle mass, however, it's obviously going to be quite inaccurate.
-
maybe you're losing inches from parts of your body you're not measuring?

I know most of these are not exactly low calorie, but I ADORE Kenji from Serious Eats, and he does a vegan month every year and writes up lots of delicious recipes. Link to all of the recipes: http://www.seriouseats.com/tags/The%20Vegan%20Experience His Mapo Tofu looks properly amazing!…

Fried rice is the best! Basically dice loads of veggies and things you like, fry them it a little bit of oil, add your rice and scramble an egg into the whole thing.
-
Best way to jumpstart metabolism is to exercise. Just do loads of working out and eat it all back so you're on the same net calories.

Spicy grilled chicken legs Marinade ingredients: For one person, a teaspoon each of salt, pepper, garlic granules, any spice mix (homemade or ready-mixed, e.g. Garam Masala, Five Spice, Cajun Spices, Chilli Powder Mix), cornstarch. A little bit of lime juice. Soy sauce if you have any. (It sounds like a lot but most of it…

Eggs are amazing. Don't believe the people who say they're bad for you: they do contain saturated fat, but they're still healthier than meat. Chickpeas/garbanzo beans and other beans and pulses are good if you like them. And there's always (skimmed) milk! :)
-
Your food diary is not public, but I second all the suggestions in the second post. Basically anything that's naturally got lots of fat and protein. Use dressings with good fat for your veg and starches (a tablespoon of olive oil is 119 calories). Eat meat: a chicken leg quarter with skin is 400 calories.
-
Braising it is really easy! Just simmer it in soy sauce and water/stock with some chillies/spices/minced meat/chopped mushrooms, and it's really tasty.
-
My suggestion: cook! :D There are sooo many recipes online for things like fried chicken, doughnuts and burgers. If it's the taste you crave, then why not make the recipes yourself? You can weigh out and log all the ingredients you use, and that way you know exactly what goes into them. I don't think there's anything wrong…

Good luck with working on your bikini body! :) I do agree with the above that 600 is probably too little. If you eat too little you actually lose weight slower than if you eat the right amount! Are you working out at all? I've heard that lifting weights is really good for toning up :)
