  • Siggi's pumpkin and spice was delicious, better than I was expecting. Worst is some honey monstrosity my mother bought.
  • It's delicious! The only problem for weight loss would be loading it with cream, sugar, and other such things.
  • A whole container of Ben & Jerry's ice-cream. Any other ice-cream I can moderate just fine. But Ben & Jerry's is just cruel in how delicious it is and how easily the whole container is gone.
  • Lindt, Ghirardelli, Whitman's sampler chocolate, basically anything with cocoa :) I try to go with the dark since I've found it tends to have more reasonable calorie and portion sizes, but it doesn't always happen.
  • MFP has been the method I've used for the longest time, but I've always just ate the recommended calories and generally have not bothered logging my exercise. Now that I want an activity tracker and a HRM, I'm thinking of eating back 1/2 or so of my exercise calories, which would take me more to a "net" standpoint. The…
  • Yep. From most people I think their hearts are in the right places. But my mother has gone as far as saying that I'm "losing" my "figure", that I look pale and other such comments. I'm 5'4" and 145, so I'm literally just barely in the healthy range. The comments have gone from making me feel a bit proud to becoming…
  • To kick my butt into gear and finally run a 5K.
  • Definitely! It's not the only reason- increased health and fitness are also very important, obviously. But as I lose weight both my love of shopping and the amount of clothes I can fit into and look cute in increases :) Eventually, I hope to be confident enough to wear styles that make me feel and look good. As a person…
  • An activity tracker- haven't decided which one yet! And a gift card to the local mall :)
  • I think the most shocking thing is the disparity between the global percent and the United States one! I have a lower BMI than 65% of women aged 15-29 in the U.S, But a higher BMI than 75% of women 15-29 in the world. I'm most like someone from Slovenia. I would ADD about 14,000,000 tons to the weight of the world's…

  • I find this interesting as well. I think a big part is that goal set on the higher end of the BMI scale seem a lot more manageable. For someone who has been overweight/obese their whole life, a weight of say, 130 may seem nigh impossible, while 170 may seem very obtainable. I know this was me when I was 200 lbs. I set my…
  • Today was: *1/3 cup of egg whites *Some banana pepper slices *A medium Tim Hortons coffee, single cream, single sugar
  • I had to return after first maintaining at a weight that is honestly too high for me, and then proceeding to gain about ten pounds. After seeing how my experiment with not logging went, I plan to never leave. It doesn't take too much effort and there is no excuse for me to ruin all my hard work through laziness. I have…
  • Usually once a week, some months once every other week. I try to keep it on the same day and the same time.
  • French fries, Lindt chocolates, Wegman's pies, fudge, sponge candy...ugh, so many things!
  • Run if you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must. Breakfast is tomorrow. And my favorite: you can do it! I think self-motivation is important :)
  • I should probably do some sort of exercise besides cardio, but running is so easy to fit in my schedule and so addictive. I don't think it's recorded on this site, but I started at 203 lbs. I am now at 149 lbs. Only type of exercise I ever did was cardio. People recommend strength training for several reasons, but…
  • I find that any number of things can help, depending on my mood: exercise, water, zero calorie carbonated drinks, chewing gum, and doing something fun and interesting instead of eating. Most of the time I find myself "hungry" right after a meal or before bed, and doing any of the things I listed usually keeps me satisfied…
  • Exercise has become a habit for me. So I'd have to say, healthy eating.
  • Binge eating is a real issue, and if you struggle with it, you can get support. I have not had any experience with binge eating myself, but I hope these links will help you: http://www.helpguide.org/mental/binge_eating_disorder.htm http://edreferral.com/binge_eating_disorder.htm
  • "Hi flex500, I was eating about 1700-1800 calories a day back when I started this last September, it was my 50th birthday and I had a little melt-down and got serious about losing weight. Like I said, I've taken off 34 pounds of the 54 that I need to. I hit this hellish plateau about 2 weeks ago. My guideline here is 1200…
  • Yep! It's nice to see some fellow equestrians.
  • Probably not the healthiest but I enjoy Kellogg's Fiber Plus Antioxidants granola bars. Particularly the chocolate chip one. Yummy. However, if you want the healthiest choice I would go with making your own granola bars- that way you'll know exactly what's in them. There are plenty of really yummy recipes out there.
  • I'm not sure what Fry's or Safeway have, so sorry if I recommend something similar! I've heard a lot of people like Whole Foods, though we don't have one around here. Is there any farmer's market you can get to once it's summer? Wegmans is where I get a lot of my food, and Budwey's.
  • I stopped cold turkey. The most helpful thing for me was not having any in the house. If you can, get rid of any soda you have in your house. I'll still have some pop if I go out to eat, but that's it. It's been a while since I "quit" and I don't even crave pop anymore. Good luck! If you don't like water, try switching it…
  • For most of my life, I knew I was overweight, but I kept thinking "Well, I'm not 200 pounds". Then I stepped on a scale and I was 206 pounds. It was one of the worst moments in my life, my heart completely sank. That was the moment I knew I needed to lose weight. The last time I weighed myself I was 167 pounds, and my…
  • I don't know a lot about how much the body needs a rest day physically, but mentally I believe it's a good idea to help prevent you from feeling burned out and keep you consistent.
  • I have some of the same issues. Snacking is a hard one for me, I haven't decided if I have more trouble not eating when bored or not eating because of emotions. It's been hard finding a healthier coping mechanism for emotions, but it's been worth it. Getting started and getting past the first day or two was the hardest…
  • Personally, I don't really have a set goal weight because ideally I'd like to keep losing until I hit a weight I'm satisfied with and feel good at. However, I feel that some sort of goal will keep me more focused, so I figure around 143 pounds because that seems to be considered "healthy" at my height. However, I may end…
