I have not heard of the perfect portions scale, but I looked it up online just now. It seems like it is a scale and a food diary in one? I'm fine with my scale, since I just input the grams of food I ate, and MFP does the rest.

I did zero the scale. So this is only the weight of the actual cereal! (The measuring cup by itself is 29 grams)

The 1.5 has been working okay for me. I usually don't lose 1.5 though, more like .8 most of the time. So maybe if I change to 1/week I won't lose much of anything! I was considering 1/week because I don't want a bounce back during maintenance. But maybe I should get closer first... hmmm

Hi Jessica, thanks for joining, you will like it here. I started at 172 pounds a couple months ago on here, and I am also hoping to get to 140 (I am 5' 5.5"). Losing 30 pounds is daunting to me too, and I always seem to get stuck too, but here is hoping you and me both can get there.

I wouldn't want to have only eaten 900 and exercised off 200, because that means you have only netted 700 calories. I'd eat up if I were you, but then again I take every chance I can get to put calories in me :P

A lot of people on MFP don't understand the gross vs. net calories. I have tried to explain it but haven't been very successful conveying what I understand. I always subtract 100 calories per hour from what my HRM says I burned to account for this.
