  • I make my own oatmeal muffins and add psyllium husks which increases the fiber. I also have a fabulous Morrocan Lentil Soup Recipe that I found online that offers up 12 grams of fiber +11 grams of protein per serving and 177 calories. Between my high fiber cereal, my muffins and the lentil soup I am OVER my fiber goal for…
  • Thank you for your post. You give me such hope. If I could even look 1/2 as good as you I would be thrilled. You look awesome!
  • It took a good 45 lbs before people started noticing. I think sometimes people are afraid to say anything in case they're wrong.
  • I have recently learned that the reason I am fat is because I do exactly what you want to do. "Break" my diet and then decide that I've screwed it up so it's game on. Have the rice. Log it as best you can but move on and forget it. Carry on with your day. Go for a walk, Don't feel guilty because it's OK. People who manage…
  • I don't have a cheat day but I will allow myself to have something special if I feel like it and NOT feel guilty about it. I just didn't think I would be able to handle a "cheat" on my schedule. It felt weird to me. It works for many people I just couldn't trust myself with it.
  • I've dropped one cup size with a 40 lb loss so far. I've gone from a 38C to a 38B and trust me....it's not easy to find a 38B! It's a weird size. Hopefully that'll be it!
  • Rumble dutch chocolate protein drink - It's awesome! Anything spicy....indian, mexican.....all of a sudden I crave hot and spicy.
  • I think that perhaps you should be looking at this a whole new way. How about SLOWLY making changes to how you eat? Clearly you need an eating PLAN and not a gimmick type diet. Don't discard all food groups. Make healthy choices and choose to eat whole foods rather than processed. Eat balanced. When I started I logged…
  • For an early morning workout I eat some cereal before heading out and I have a coffee. I find that if I don't eat, I don't have the stamina for a "good" workout.
  • I'm 5'2" and currently weigh 218 pounds. I'm on 1,800 calories a day which was supposed to put me at a 1 lb per week loss however I'm looking at more of a 2 lb per week loss. Most days I eat between 1,500 and 1,600 calories. I also work out 4 - 5 days per week.
  • protein drink or bar
  • The loss of a loved one is so difficult on so many levels. I cared for both of my parents who were diagnosed with terminal cancer 5 years apart. I looked after them and forgot about me. I don't regret a minute of it, but it takes a toll and I too gained a ton of weight. I feel your pain and I hope I can be here to help…
  • I make the mashed cauliflower with light cream cheese, light sour cream, chives and then I put them in individual ramekins and sprinkle with a combination of cheddar cheese and parmesan. I bake it in the oven until it's HOT and BUBBLY. It tastes like cauliflower but it has a really decadent and rich flavour to it. I also…
  • Sugar pure and simple. I crave it and I am most definitely addicted to it. So as much as I possibly can, added sugar is out of my diet. I make almost all my own food and I have adjusted recipes to remove the sugar. If I binge....it will be on SUGAR!
  • I prepare food on weekends and freeze. I also buy some pre packed items to just throw in such as 100 calorie packets of almonds, yogurt, applesauce, babybel cheese, protein bars, protein drinks, individual packets of hummus. I boil a few eggs and I prepackage everything so I just have to throw it in the mini cooler to take…
  • I too have estrogen concerns so I'm careful of my soy intake. I switched from soy milk to almond milk but I do have soy in my protein drinks but then again I don't have them everyday. I love edamame but I don't overdo it. With my family (mother, aunt, grandmother) history of estrogen sensitive cancers, and my own issues…
  • My BF is italian and the big struggle has been the pasta and the bread. We have compromised on spelt pasta. He REALLY likes it and didn't even notice that it wasn't the "normal" pasta. As for bread, I stopped obsessing over it and just tried to get him to eat one piece rather than 3. I also started baking my own bread. I…
  • Measure Weigh Log your food
  • A cup in a cup is not the same as a a cup I "think" is a cup. Portion control is key.
  • coffee with cream bread bananas peanut butter/almond butter
  • Don't believe everything you read especially on the internet. I had a total hysterectomy 4 years ago. I did not take, nor do I take hormone replacement now, due to my family history of cancer so I can't speak to the effect that HRT may have on weight gain post hysterectomy. I read all kinds of terrible stories on the…
  • Waterdown, Ontario!!!!!
  • I am a compulsive overeater and a food addict. Food is my drug of choice. Sugar was once the death of me. I started going to OA meetings in November and it took me a bit to "get on board" but I can honestly say that OA has most likely saved me from a life of overeating, and health issues. I have 90 days of abstinence and I…
  • Try filtered water nice and cold. Add a squeeze of lemon juice. I HATE PLAIN WATER, but this has done the trick for me.
  • I eat. My calorie target is 1,800 calories per day. I don't stress if I go over but I do find that somedays I don't quite meet that goal and that's mostly due to being busy and not thinking about eating. I eat as clean as possible and make a point to make a lot of my own foods. Feel free to add me if you like. I have no…
  • cauliflower mash homemade quinoa salad with apples and almonds Faux Wendy's Frosty (what an incredible treat) hummus homemade oatmeal and blueberry muffins
  • Healthy eating is all about balanced eating. You need all your food groups and quite honestly you are not taking in enough calories. If you continue to eat like this you will not lose weight because your body is going to go into starvation mode and hang on to every calorie you put in your mouth. Lean proteins, whole…
  • I agree that it's all relative. We get paid more than a lot of countries and our dollar, as of today, is not at par with the US dollar. I have to point out, that I spend some time in the southern states in the Winter and the cost of fresh vegetables and anything other than pork butt, can put you in the poorhouse. It's…
  • I love almond milk in cereal and in my oatmeal. I use the plain unsweetened. I've used it in smoothies and I made pancakes with it. I like the nutty flavour and I think it really enhances some foods. I wouldn't cook with it as I just don't think it behaves the same as milk does in recipes. Stick to milk for your savoury…
  • It's pretty amazing what happens when you go cold turkey. I've been on a meal plan since early December. I have more than enough to eat, I'm losing weight and I don't feel deprived. I got rid of all the "crap" in the cupboards, i.e., sugar laden foods and took them out of my diet. This morning I realized that I was…
