  • You might find too that something else that's 'safe' and on plan satisfies your cravings. Pre surgery, I would have rolled my eyes at the idea that a sugar free fudgecicle would satisfy my sweet cravings, but it seriously does (coupled with a handful of strawberries). I'm two months out, and save for the odd piece of dark…
  • My roommate stopped in my room over the weekend said 'Since your surgery, you really seem more energetic and social! I like the change!' When I got home from work, I stumbled on the curb and fell in the street. Instead of major injury (like every other time I've fallen), I was able to get right up and brush myself off. (My…
  • I don't have a vitamix, but I do use a nutribullet and like it a great deal.
  • Without knowing what your definition of healthy is, it's difficult to say. I know Wendys does have some salads (but looking at the nutrition information was kind of surprising- 800 calories for a salad? Gracious!). I guess my suggestion would be deciding what you want to focus on- high protein? Low carb? And then consider…
  • Not everyone is fortunate enough to not suffer from anxiety over medical procedures. There's more to it than just 'I don't want to do this'.
  • I am utterly flattened when I get home from work. (My surgery was 3/2) I still take a lot of naps, and I am really tired a lot. Heartened that this is normal.
  • Seconding the suggestion not to wait. Give your surgeon's office a call. They may have a different medication for you.
  • I only said that because it's gigantic on my screen and breaks the formatting of the forums. But if that's what you were going for, okay!
  • You might want to shrink that image a bit.
  • Thank you for the input! My Weight Management Center also has an exercise program, so I may start with that first - I am at least guaranteed that the people running that know they're working with bariatric patients, then split off on my own. I had hoped to avoid it because 30 minute drive each way buuuut what can you do?…
  • My program had a flat fee. Visits to the nutritionist, psychologist, endocrinologist and surgeon were billed as office visits, so my insurance paid for that, but I still had to pay almost $500 up front to even join the program. (I was supposed to have my surgery 12/9 of last year, but then we discovered my insurance didn't…
  • I've been thinking about a gym membership, and talking to a personal trainer. Those of you that have done this, was the experience a good one? I am also a long-time sedentary person, and while I used to be really lifestyle active (hiking, etc), asthma and joint pain have slowed me down to the point where it's difficult to…
  • Such a drastic difference already! You look great. :D
  • Good luck! By four days post-surgery, I had trouble side-sleeping, but I was able to (very carefully) lay on my stomach. I think it'll depend both on your procedure and where they place your incisions. Got our fingers crossed for a smooth recovery!
  • What a lovely bit of advice! Thank you so much for taking the time to write this!
  • I wasn't hungry, per-se, but the head-craving for my old comfort foods has been really strong. (Tacos, man. That would be my undoing.)

  • Crystal light tastes the same to me, but other sweet flavors are really intense now.
  • 500mg is my usual dosage, too. I'm going to try re-adding them this week, since I'm starting week 5. :)
  • My periods tend to show up and way outstay their welcome. I'm pretty regular - every 28-30 days, but the bleeding lasts anywhere from 4-15 days, and I usually feel like I'm recovering from mono afterward. I had an IUD (mirena) placed last month, so I'm kind of interested to see if it helps with those symptoms at all; I…
  • I've lost 30 pounds since my surgery on 3/2/15. (Roughly, had a slight uptick this morning, but within normal fluctuations) I'm having difficulty taking my metformin- I had some pretty drastic side effects pre-surgery, and it hasn't gotten better afterward, so I'm taking it slow with re-adding it to my medication regimen.…
  • Don't know about the other ladies, but when a guy refers to women as 'females', I'm out.
  • Edging up to a small bale of hay.
  • I'm another daily weigh-in; like April, I tend to get anxious if I don't. I can skip a couple of days here and there, but I have a lot of fluctuations due to water retention, and if I see it on the upswing, even if I logically know the 4 days of < 1000 calories previous could not have resulted in an 8 lb gain, I have a…
  • Weird, I had all sorts of problems with the Bariatric Advantage, which has no iron, and no issues with the Flintstones, which has 18mg. (And I wish I had noticed the BA had no iron before I bought them)
  • Your story sounds so much like mine. My highest point was 380, and when I found that out, I went home and threw up. (Then got comfort food, because... hey, it worked all my life, right?) I've seen some really remarkable success stories on these forums, and if you need a friend that's walking the same road you are, feel…
  • And keep in mind, you may have issues with lactose for a few weeks. (But yeah, I am not quite back to 'normal' for myself, and I'm at 3.5 weeks post-surgery)
  • I did find that flinstones go down much easier, so I'll wait a few more weeks and try the BA ones - I spent too much money on them to let them go to waste. (I have no problems with the calcium citrate chewables, go figure)
  • I'm with everyone else that's boggled at their ability to eat the things they have; I've had a lot of discomfort and outright pain when I tried to push. Seeing them chowing down on a hamburger (A kiddie sized burger would be one thing, but this looks like big ones?) just boggles me. There's a British version as well on…
  • Same, if anyone wants to add me, I'm here for a long haul. :)
  • Ugh Penny's story put the fear of God into me. It was so tragic, so sad.
