  • Monster Ultra is my treat to myself. I love coffee, but I prefer it with lots of sweeteners, and the sugar-free Monster satisfies the desire for sweet with my caffeine. (It's the only carbonated beverage I drink regularly) I find that people - using the term generally - like to feel moralistic or like they have the high…
  • I turned 40 this year and I've struggled with weight my entire life. I came to the realization that I need to deal with my feelings of shame with regards to food, because those prevent me from fully utilizing the tools at my disposal. (I've never felt like having accountability to friends was helpful because why would I…
  • I have always said 'Puppy Eyes don't work on me.' Then we went to the humane society and met this guy- Brought him home on Tuesday, and the little bugger is busily making sure we cater to his every whim. He's been a great walking companion. :)

  • You look absolutely fantastic!! And like so many other people have said, you've provided some inspiration for me to push past the 6 month plateau I've been "enjoying". If I can ask, what macro limit/goals did you set for yourself? And what worked for you for a fitness regime? (I started a bit higher than you, but I still…
  • This describes my needs perfectly.
  • I've had the surgery, and you might look into Optifast. It still requires a physician's supervision, and it's expensive - so not likely something you can afford right now. But you can look at the later stages of the diet and get an idea of what your target macros should be (protein, ect). You can also check with your…
  • I'm about 15-16 months out and no longer take it. I stopped around 6-7 months and had no issues.
  • May 14- 7701 steps, 5.01 km. (Considering I just started and was averaging around 3.5 km/day, I'm pretty happy) Today will be pretty light.
  • As someone that is interested but has no schools nearby, are there any dvds/videos anyone recommends for learning?
  • I had an IUD inserted right before my surgery, but for the first 6 months or so, I had a lot of spotting. After that I stopped having a period entirely, which was pretty fantastic.
  • No weight gain here either, and I've been taking it for 9 months.
  • I don't have a period anymore (IUD), but I still gain weight at certain points in my cycle. I use trendweight.com to keep from freaking out about gains, and I find it useful to see the numbers tick upward; so when I'm moody and craving EVERYTHING I can look at the trend and go 'Oh. It's you.'
  • Money will be an option very shortly - I'm going to be a full time student in January, so I will both have more time... and less, heh. But I will try out some Tai Chi videos on youtube, in the interim! (I get a free gym membership with my student pass at my new school, so I'll hold off on treadmills until I get there)…
  • I just came back from Disneyland. I was 384 at my highest weight, and now I fit comfortably on all the rides, I was able to walk all day, and even perched on my boyfriend's knee for a while to rest my feet without killing his leg. I struggle a lot with cravings (I was an emotional eater), and I've gone through a hellish…
  • Oof goals. October 1st SW 279 October 31st GW 265 1 - Back to the gym. 3x weekly at minimum. 2 - Stick with the food plan I created. 3 - Don't transfer bad habits. I used to eat out of boredom, and I don't need to introduce a new bad habit for the same reasons. 4 - Avoid the carbs. I don't tolerate them well, I know it, my…
  • My highest weight was 383. I had surgery at 362. I'm 7 months out and weigh between 275 and 280, and I've spent the last two months losing and re-gaining the same 10-15 lbs over and over again. I'm definitely one of those that trundles along slowly. I've been frustrated for the last month and being sloppy as a result, but…
  • I was lactose intolerant for about 3 weeks. I'm told it's very common. :)
  • Ugh, I am so with you on the 3lbs gain. I swear my body likes to pretend it's Spongebob and hold on to ever molecule of liquid I take in. I've been "plateau'd" for the last month and a half - I put it in quotes because I'll lose 10-15lbs, then gain it back, then lose it again... so irritating.
  • I put the musclegen protein powder mentioned above in Crystal Light. I don't notice it's there (beyond giving my jug an extra shake periodically), and it makes getting my protein extremely easy.
  • My Nutritionist suggested Nioxin - she said 9 other people have recommended it to her, and I think my hair loss has slowed since I started using it. She also said that bald spots can indicate nutritional deficiencies, so if you're having bald patches, it's perhaps a good idea to check in with your weight loss surgery team.…
  • We had surgery around the same time, and it's really great to see you looking so good. :)
  • I've just started buying things off of ebay, because getting new is... just not going to work. I just got a shipment of stuff in, two tops and a pair of capris. I can get the pants up, but not buttoned/zipped (I ordered 2 sizes down from what's currently loose on me), so hopefully another month or two and I can do this…
  • I traveled for the first time last month, and I was extremely anxious about eating on the road. I was meeting a friend for the first time in person (He knew about my surgery, but... y'know). It was actually really great. My friend was happy to share his meals, and nine times out of ten, we ordered something we both liked…
  • Joysie - I am averaging around 16 lbs per month. I ended up using trendweight.com and a spreadsheet so I could keep better track of averages so I would quit getting upset and angry at the scale. Not sure if it would help you, but if it would, I'm happy to share my excel formulas. :) My goals for July - lose 15 lbs (I have…
  • My meals are all pretty similar- B - Protein powder in my water L - 2 cheese sticks w/ 4 oz fruit (strawberries or cherries) D - 4 oz boneless, skinless chicken breast over salad of butter lettuce, banana peppers, bell pepper and goat cheese with balsamic vinaigrette. On the rare occasion I'm hungry for a snack, I'll have…
  • I met my boyfriend online over a year ago, and was pretty open with him about my situation and that I was going to have the surgery. He called me every day while I was in the hospital, and has been doing a lot of things 'with' me, even though we live in different countries. I met him in person for the first time last…
  • If your surgeon doesn't have any useful suggestions, you might consider checking out therapists with experience with eating disorders. It's not quite the same area of expertise, but they have experience assisting patients with food and body image issues.
  • * Get back into the routine with the gym. The holiday and work-related stress messed me up. * Watch the carbs. I feel better with low-carb stuff, but the siren song of bread has been calling. * Get some more sleep. I've really been neglecting that and finally... * Quit obsessing. From everything I've seen I am losing at a…
  • I tend to freak out less by using trendweight.com - I load everything in there and it does all the averaging for me. :)
  • I would measure out something I thought I could eat - 4oz of soup, for example, eat what I wanted, then weigh what was left to get an accurate measure of what I actually ate.
