I'd say whichever you want really. Either way you will be improving your fitness. When I completed c25k I chose to work on distance, but that is only because I run outside and wanted to try some different routes. I also recommend the c25k. I found a podcast online that helped a lot. The music wasn't necessarily to my taste but I find any sort of music a good distraction when running.
