Ok, I just had a text argument with my middle schooler and a row with my hubby. It's not even 8am. The rest of the day has to get better! The weather is supposed to be gorgeous outside today. No excuses! I find that I need to walk in the mornings if I'm going to get it done at all. I lost about 3 lbs this week. Yahoo! I've…

Hey, SAMHs! I've been off the radar a while. I'm doing OK. I have been eating pretty well, just not tracking my food as much as I should. I'm still having trouble taking in enough water and doing enough walking. No excuses. My allergies are kicking up like crazy! Sneezing, sore throat, itcy/watery eyes. This is for the…

Just wanted to jump in and say 'hi' to everyone! I haven't been around much, but I hope to catch up soon.

Hi, everyone! Happy Holy Week, Good Friday and (almost) Easter for those who celebrate. I seem to be doing well without my IV nutrition so far (1 week down, 2 weeks to go before the "big decision" about me continuing or getting free). The vomiting and nausea that I was having before when I was malnourished is not happening…

Hey, everyone. I didn't fall off completely! I've been swamped with business-building and volunteering with my church. I'm doing good--dropped like 4 lbs in the past week doing nothing. Bought some size 6 (that's S-I-X  !) slacks the other day and I can't believe it. I think I'm the same size I was as a…

I'm a size 8 at 160 lbs and 5 feet, 7.5 inches. I was a size 22 at 248 lbs, same height.

I drink 100g of protein in (2) shakes per day. I make them with Champion Pure Whey Stack in Chocolate (the only kind that doesn't make me gag!), two scoops each. I mix it with coffee and cream. Here's the recipe: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/ds/4280141/Step-by-step-directions-on-how-to-make-the-best-protein/#35238089…

Just some thoughts: 1) You may be in a stall that will break soon 2) You may need to make your diet stronger in protein and lower in carbs (South Beach style) 3) Your body may be in starvation mode, meaning your caloric intake is too low for your activity level. It may need to be adjusted upward to see the scale move. 4)…

People always think the door is open for them to comment on what's best for other people. That drives me nuts! People come up to me all the time and tell me to stop losing. I'm 5' 7 1/2" and I weigh around 160. If I gain four more pounds, I'm considered overweight in my BMI. I'm still in a size 10, not a size 2. So, why do…

My DH has been sick with some kind of severe sinus infection for three weeks, and he finally decided to go to the doctor to get some antibiotics yesterday. Meanwhile, I feel like crap! I'm not coughing and whatnot, I'm just dragging around like I still weight 250 lbs. I'm a bit anemic, but I don't think I should be feeling…

My DH has been as sick as a dog for three weeks. He finally went to the doctor and got some anti-biotics. I've been dragging around like I still weight 250 lbs :ohwell: . I'm exhausted all the time. I know that my iron is low, but it's slowly rising with supplementation. I don't know what the heck else is wrong with me.…

Hi, everyone! I hope all is going well. Altushe, I'm glad to hear about your edema being resolved. Let us know how the scope goes. And thank you so much for your information about bikes. I will get the fam to go to the bike store in the next couple of weeks. SingFree has me curious about the bike path on the Potomac. That…

Did an hour yesterday, finally! Committing to the same today. Have a great day, everyone!

Welcome to Karla and all the new moms here! :flowerforyou: I love reading about everyone's babies. My baby is in middle school now. Sometimes I miss her baby days...but not when I hear about them being up in the middle of the night! I finally walked for real yesterday-- a whole hour with the dog and music. It was…

There is very roughly about 1 g of fat in 1 g of meat drippings, per MyFitnessPal. I'd say you could reduce the fat grams in the meat you're cooking by the # of grams of fat drippings you get from the grill. You'd have to measure it, which of course is gross, but it would work.
-
Great question! I'm not sure of the answer, but I'd say for as much fat that drains from the GF grill, I'd put it at 40-50% reduction. What do other folks think? Anyone know for sure?

My "official" weigh in is on Monday mornings, before any food or fluid intake, after my first trip to the potty, naked. All my other scale trips during the week are just to see how things are coming along. Sometimes I weigh every day, every other day, a couple of times in the same day, etc. depending on what's going on…

It's all in the shape and genetics. What can ya do, ya know? I have a friend who is really petite on top, and on the bottom she's like a different person! It's hard for her to lose weight. She just works what she has with style. Here's a great website to show how to dress for one's body shape. Sounds like you're an "A."…

You've got great suggestions on the drinking. If they're drinking, they shouldn't be counting your drinks! You can always make room in your daily food intake for the extras at happy hour if you know they're coming. That way, you can indulge without guilt. I'd also recommend cutting the happy hours down to a dull…

Happy Sunday, everyone! If anyone knows about bikes, please chime in. I'm really trying to get us all off the couch. Stiring, my water intake is a bit better. Lemon juice and making it ice cold helps a lot. I also make sure I drink as much as possible with my two fist-fulls of vitamins every day. I do about 20 oz…

Hey, everyone! Shoppie--That foot cast sounds great! I wish I'd thought of that when my baby was a baby. Have a great strength training session! PNC - I'm so glad that your surgery went well, and that hubby helped out with the kids. I hope your recovery is quick and painless. Katapple--That's great news about your…

Hi there, everyone! LadyPersia & Tex--you all are inspiring me to try some planting this year. We live in a condo, so it's not like we have a yard, but we do have a little strip out in front that could use some colorful attention. I've also seen commercials for growing your own vegetables upside down on your porch or in…

Blackdragonclare...YES, I'd say that counts! I'd even say that walking with another person (no matter how small) strapped to you counts as double!

Sden--welcome!! We're just a big ole happy group here. Jump in where you like. 4loveofkids--ROCK ON, CHICA! CONGRATS! :flowerforyou: I'm impressed. I am so behind in comments, but I'm reading and catching up on everyone's successes and challenges. 4love, Holly & Shoppie, thanks for the advice and the kick in the pants…

Ok, so this is only the second time I've walked all month...but I did it! Freezing cold and all. I gotta get it in gear.

It's true--the more you have, the more you crave. Sugar substitutes and low-cal options also contribute to the sugar and carb cravings. I would suggest going cold turkey for 30-60 days, then reintegrating a small amount of sweets into your diet. You should target them as treats for once or twice per week, not every day.…

I worked afternoons for about 9 months, and I thought I was gonna die! My hat is off to anyone who works night shift. Thanks for all you do! :flowerforyou: The only suggestion I have is to pack your own food and eat only what your bring. Make sure it includes one great meal and two small, delicious snacks. Don't forget to…

I everyone. Happy Wednesday! I found a way to cut out 2/3 of the carbs in my protein shake. I'm having a party! I hope it shows up on the scale, whenever I can get a new one or get mine fixed. It's one of those fancy types that gives your water & body fat percentages with your weight, so I'm hoping we can get it…

Hey there, everyone. It's hump day! I used to care when I worked full time--now the days all run together. I'm reading everyone's posts--not enough time to catch up! Kirstin, I sent you a friend request. Katie, I'm hoping for great biopsy results for you today. For all of our runners...y'all inspire me! I'm…

Hey, everyone. Spring is definitely in the air! I love warm weather. For the first time in my life, I'm living in a state where I'm landlocked. I don't know how I'm going to get through the summer! Tex, thanks for the water suggestion. I think I'm going to have to strap on a gallon oxygen-tank style to get it in. I…
