I never actually occurred to me to take pictures before. I guess a combination of ... 1. I don't have that many pictures of myself anyway 2. Although I was "theoretically" overweight, I didn't really think I was. I knew I was bigger than most people that I worked with - but then I work with a bunch of super competitive…

No contest. I absolutely detest squats. I just find them so painful and exhausting. If I ever took over the world ....

Late posting as ever! 6Oct 13.1 9Oct ->3.2 12Oct -> 5.9 MTD -> 22.2 The 13.1 was the London Royal Parks half marathon. Enjoyable run on a beautiful sunny morning. I missed by target time, although I did run a personal best (2:03:47), so not all bad

I spend most of my time in "bargaining" - making myself all kinds of crazy deals and promises if I just keep running a bit longer. Given I actually never honour these bargains with myself, I'm not sure why I believe me the next run! But I do. Always

I would second this approach - visible progress and should keep the workouts pleasant. Also, doyou have specific speed targets? I think they'llhelp too. Just use your first walk/run as a base time, and take it from there Good luck

Good luck with your run! I really dont think I have much to add to the advice so far. I ran a marathon in April, and, although I did not realize it at the time, I think I was going through exactly the same as you - my brain lost interest in running a few weeks too early! I think a little rest (but not too much!) will…

I'm a bit of a natural stats geek - so numbers and measurements always mean a lot to me! Body fat percentage is important to me, so I know that when I add weight, it isn't just fat coming back. I cant rely on my estimates in the mirror - in my eyes I always look the same, no matter how I actually look. I went all the way…

At last - a place for me and my "homies" to relax!

Well Done!! Sounds like you had a great day!

That's an image I won't forget in a hurry ... Thanks for posting

Can I ask why you always run with the incline? Could you go a bit faster with no incline? Failing that, you might want to try the link below (I haven't tried it myself - but it looks like what you're after) http://nutritionfirstfitness.com/tools.php?tool=running

Your after pictures ....... Wow!! That is one incredible year - well done!

I think cereal is great - I have Weetabix just about every day! When I have anything else, its usually with far more calories (either vast amounts of bread, or a fried breakfast - so I try to stick to the cereal!)

She is just trying (and succeeding/failing?) to wind you up. Don't let it bother you at all. In fact, I reckon the better you do the more she'll keeping producing the comments - so sounds like you're doing well.

Last run for the month (and probably last run before the Half marathon next Sunday) Not sure whether it was wise to run so far (far by my standards!) just a week before the race; but I hate to miss my targets! Also I set a personal best for longest "all run without a break" - so not all bad Sep 29-> 18.3 Whole month…

I'm in for the bare minimum - 50 miles!! (Shellyb2012 - we can work together!!)

I was targetting 2 hours - but over the last six weeks seem to have really lost pace - not really sure why; I'll just have to see how…

I've only ever run one marathon. so not sure I can help that much. I have a half Marathon on the same day - I feel my training has gone a bit like yours. I'm going for the "Carson plan" - conservative start and step it up depending how I feel.

I'm glad to see swimming works well. I'm planning on cutting my running down in about two weeks and learning (yes, learning!) How to swim. Hoping I won't gain too much weight - but looks like it can be pretty effective too.

I suppose I'm 50 too (according to my birth certificate). I was pretty thin (70kg or less) till I was about 23; then a more reasonable weight (75-80) till I was about 35. Then, not sure what happened- too much work, kids, too much food - whatever; headed up to 100kg. I made a few attempts along the way to reverse the…

Not sure there was a name for us. There were a few of us that just listened to reggae all day and avoided anything vaguely strenuous. No activities, no sports, no nothing.

North West London says hi!!

As you are starting, I would go for at least two days off a week. Seems you found your run/walk quite pleasant, so keep it up! If you do start running more, be sure to stretch appropriately too; otherwise you'll send up like me with crocked knees! Your burn sounds reasonable to me. If I run 5 miles its about 670cals…

The world record is under 13 minutes! Not sure why I wrote that :-) I used to take about 40mins too - now more like 26. Just run at your own pace and keep practising - it'll get easier and you'll get faster. Perhaps not 13 minutes, though ... :-)
