Picture of my English setter, Jack. Snowy winter land in Wisconsin. We got our walk in this AM. He is super active and does not like cold weather. We both are dreaming of sunshine and grass B). To the Geeks here, I've never been to a costume sci fi event, but sounds fun. Always have fun dressing for Halloween parties. I do…

made 1st time today. amazing! Cook crockpot 4 hrs on high. Dump all ingredients except chicken and stir.. add the raw chicken breasts. Will shred the breasts after cooked and add back in. Serves 6- 2 cup bowls at 238 calories. I didn’t add shredded cheddar cheese or sour cream to top of bowl so calories will be different…

Happy Sunday, I walked 1 mile with the dog this am. Very peaceful, no-one out in the neighborhood, but snowy and cold, 12deg at present. Winter cant end soon enough. I have chicken taco soup cooking in the crockpot. New recipe and only 239 calories for 2 cups .(Cheese and sour cream not included). Hope it tastes as good as…

New here again... Have been using mfp for many years and not at all for 3 yrs. Back again 40lbs heavier. UHG! CW 191 GW 150 I am now 50 yrs old, married 30 yrs, and one son 26 yrs old. Used to run and have started the small process again. Ridiculous how quickly you lose what you don't use. I can run .25 to .35 miles…

I am hoping you allow new comers to join. I am a serial starter for the past two years and I think I am finally in the head game for the long haul. With out being to long or boring, About 3 yrs ago I gained 30 pounds and now another 10. That makes 40 lbs to lose. I have been at this for only 3 days of logging, however, am…

Sugar doesn't make you fat. I can stand by a 10 pound bag of sugar all day and not gain an ounce. Consuming to much sugar & anything else (even vegetables,fruit,nuts...) can make you fat. How about personal choices and self control. I prefer government to stay the H*** out of my lifestyle choices. Just say no to more taxes…

Held at 158lbs for 2+ weeks, this morning down to 155lbs. That's a woosh from yesterday. I weigh almost daily.

Count me in for uncontrollable eating 1 week prior also. I am not really craving sweets, but carbs galore. Bread, Pasta are my best friends. Exercise is also difficult. Dead legs, no Energy. I started experiencing this late 30's if I recall. I am pushing 48 and hope that menopause kicks in soon. I can deal with the cramps…

I guess all the "healthier, better quality, non-insulting Austrailian foods" lead to weight gain too. Interesting. . I agree that there is a lot of not so good quality foods available here, but there are many healthy foods too! I am trying to take off weight because I ate to much period! If I over ate the most healthiest…

yah your opinion. I think it is what your "accustomed" to. As I found I didn't necessarily care for most foods in Europe either. England was the worst IMO. I however, did love the sweets and breads, but didn't care for most of the everyday foods. I wouldn't say they were worse then the American foods, just different. I…

I guess Americans eat all rubbish? No fat Europeans? What's with all this America bashing? I've been to Europe and I have seen plenty of sweets, breads, deli meats... !!!

I joined you today 159 YEAH! Congrats.. My Goal weight is very similar also.

Put your specific goal On the fridge, In your wallet, On the mirror. The only way to lose the weight is "in the kitchen". You will need to dig deep. Maybe seeing your goal when paying for the over indulgences will help to say no and not buy them. We all have days when we fall, but bottom line is you will need to dig deep.…

All of this+ Dancing for hours is great exercise! Shrimp cocktail isn't calorie dense (Ok not sure about the cocktail Im not a huge fan, but boiled/grilled shrimp is great). Diet soda and hard liquor not toooo bad. Not a fan of beer but light I think ranges from 60 to 90 cals. You don't have to blow the diet on a nite…

Thanks peeps! I just ordered a top and look forward to "rocking" it. Sympha01, I like your unfiltered thinking, however, I have seen some women 40s, 50s, 60s trying to rock the teenybopper attire. IMO not attractive and def not "rocking it". I'd prefer not to repeat.

My first 5k I completed, I didn't come in last, 3rd to last. I was 43 at that time, and I came in 1 minute and some change ahead of a husband and wife of age 72. (didn't do much for my ego) My second 5k I completed I came in 800ish in 1200ish people. (that was 2 months later). The more you run, the faster/fitter you…

Ok, my opinion differs slightly, I would run a 11 and 13, then I would cut back again and start at 9, 10, 11 then follow last two weeks of your plan to make sure you cut back allowing enough time for rest and recovery for your half. I think you said you had 7 weeks left. Make sure you have enough cut back so your not…

Baby steps! Start with small goal. It wont feel so daunting. - Park further away than normal. - drink glass of water instead of glass of soda - walk up steps vs taking elevator - Plan out what your meals will be. It makes such a huge difference and takes a little bit of time. Think small, start small... it will escalate…

The menstrual cycle is super calorically expensive for the human body, which is why women tend to stop menstruating when they aren't getting enough food. The body just can't afford it any more. http://www.dummies.com/how-to/...ed-to-ovulation.html I just read this in another forum. Thought it was interesting and if…

I don't know how fast you run, Miles per minute, but 20 minutes of running isn't going to burn a lot of calories. I weigh 163 lbs and I burn around 120 calories a mile. I run slow so I would most likely burn around 180 calories in that 20 minutes. That is not a huge deficit. Running is great and as you run longer, the…

Agree with other posts about lower sodium intake. I also have high blood pressure. About 2 months a go I started tracking my sodium intake. I aim for under 1500 mg a day. Most days I am near or below with the exception of eating out once a month or an occasional chip (my weakness). I make most of my food from scratch as…

My personal experience is water gain. Muscles retain water for repair. Usually 2 to 3 days later, I am back down again. I have been tracking my sodium intake and am trying to keep it in the 1500 mg day range. Some days it is at 2000 some days 1000. (I have high blood pressure and have been advised that this might aid in…

Congratulations on the start at just realizing you need to do something. Counting calories can and does work. Small steps are great. Having a banana instead of "junk food" is a good start. Accurately track what you eat and eat at a deficit. If you can go for a walk after work to relieve stress, that is a good start and…

I didn't do the c25k either. I started very much like you did. What I have found to help get that 1 mile marker for running is to ad .10 miles to it the next run. It is a challenge, but your body responds quickly. Example: .5 mile run, than next time out .60 miles run, then .70 miles ect. I also did walk breaks between.…

HA HA, Didn't catch the spell check. Yes I am a glutton and I love me gluten.
-
My sister in-law who is thin, really thin, only puts weight on in the middle section (tummy). She wanted to get rid of it, without taking off any additional weight. She swears going gluten free did the trick for her. I think she said within a months time her little pooch disappeared. Now she eats gluten free. I have a…

How long have you been on MFP? My experience, I've been on since beginning of Feb. 2014. The 1st 3 weeks I bounced between 178 and 174. 178 was my starting weight. I finally broke 174 and have been losing consistently since. (I think my body had to get used to the deficit and lose the water weight). When I first started, I…
