Oh my is that all you guys ate today? My diary is open if you want to take a peak. I've been vegan - whole foods plant based for 3 years now.

Vegan for almost 3 years. The diet helped heal a chronic health condition (with herbs and supplements). Lost 10+ pounds initially without trying. Now it's time to exercise, cut fats, and lose 25 more.

I've been a vegan and WFPB for almost 3 years now. I lost weight on it initially without exercising. More importantly, the diet (plus specific herbs/supplements) also helped me get over chronic Epstein Barr virus that I had had for 10 years! I feel great! Today I logged onto Fitness Pal for the first time in a long time so…

I add approx a tablespoon of raisins to 2 cups of water and 1 cup of rolled oats. Bring to a boil and then simmer on low until the water is all soaked up (approx 15 minutes) stirring occasionally. I put a cup of cooked oatmeal in a big bowl and top with raspberries, blackberries, blueberries (1/2 - 1 cup of each). Love it…

Too skimpy, yet too loose. Not fan of a light bottom compared to the bright top.

No reason to start mocking now is there?

Yes I agree that neither is for high heat. Personally I don't cook with any oil at high heat. I'll have to ask my doc for sources regarding this newer thinking that olive oil is not a good oil to cook with at all. And it isn't like he thinks canola, soy, safflower, corn, etc are any better. The truth is, humans probably…

The newer studies that my doctor is concerned about show that olive oil when heated turns into an unhealthy substance and it doesn't have to do with the smoke point. The act of heating the oil changes it for the worse even if it doesn't smoke. Whereas coconut oil, especially Refined coconut oil doesn't become damaged…

Unrefined coconut oil has a smoke point of 350 degrees Refined coconut oil has a smoke point of 450 degrees http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoke_point In my opinion, deep frying is never a healthy way to cook. I prefer to gently saute or pan fry vs deep fry.

Never apply oil to fresh sunburn!! It will lock the heat in and you will continue to burn! When skin is burned by the sun, it will continue to burn deeper layers for up to 24 hours. So if you have a "fresh" sunburn the best thing to do is apply ice packs, cold towels, lay in a tub of cold water, take a cold shower, etc.…

That was published in the Journal of the American Oil Chemists’ Society in the 1970's. This society also pushed trans fats into the american diet as being a perfect solution. I wouldn't exactly trust anything they say.…

Even though olive oil may have a higher smoke point, when olive oil is heated it turns into a toxic substance, as is the case with all oils except for REfined Coconut Oil.
-
Coconut oil, Refined or Unrefined, is what bakers prefer to use! Not sure what happened. Maybe the oil was old and rancid for some reason? I don't think CO turns rancid very easily though. That's strange.
-
That would be gross. The oil pulling is supposed to draw out toxins and microbes . . . ewwww don't swallow.
-
Also, UNrefined has a lovely, light coconut flavor . . . and again UNrefined has all the wonderful nutrients. REfined isn't as nutrient packed but it is your best bet for cooking because it doesn't become a toxic oil when heated like all other oils (including olive oil). REfined coconut oil is tasteless. I always have jars…
-
Also, coconut oil makes a wonderful pie crust! Replace the shortening/butter/lard in the recipe with refined or unrefined coconut oil and you won't be disappointed! So much better for you than the other alternatives.
-
If you want to lose weight then make sure you track your coconut oil intake just like you would any other food. It IS good for you, but you still have to track it. UNrefined coconut oil has the most nutrients. So use UNrefined when eating straight off the spoon or when using in a smoothie, salad dressing, etc. But for…

When I drove up my driveway tonight two bunnies were startled by my lights and started to run away in a frenzie. But first, one of them jumped vertically up in the air, almost like it was trying to jump in the tree above him, lol. It was adorable. But that proves they can jump on you and kiss, I mean eat your face.
