Fat free cream cheese is not bad and mixed with pineapple chunks it tastes pretty darn good on the celery.

I'm with you on the brussel sprouts. Had them as a kid, hated them and never ate them again. I tried hummus, can live without it. Kale is just awful.

Just an FYI, no opinions. I did the Dr. Atkins diet when it first was publicized. I lost 40 pounds in about 6 weeks time. High protein, high fat, no fruits, grains or milk products. A few months after that I was in the hospital for a gall bladder removal. I had 72 stones. I do not really recommend anybody stay on this for…

Me too :) Started at magical number because my M.D. suggested it as a starting place for a woman needing to lose 10 to 15 pounds. It gave my body the jump start needed and now I am really happy at the 1,300 mark I started in the third month. I eat just about everything, but in a smaller amount now than what I used to do…

Well said, one size does not fit all! I could not possibly eat like I did when I was in my twenties. 1,200 is a number suggested by physicians for women who want to lose weight. It's an ok starting place, but not if you feel weak or nauseous or deprived. So for me I started there, but after two months increased it to 1,300…

The children in Europe are starving! LOL, I heard that one growing up more than once. Let me say this about that. If you are having trouble for 10 days I would blame it on the sugar. Sugar begats more sugar. If you feel deprived, read recipes and find things that give you more variety, some crunch as well. Cupcakes freeze…

Hi Kate! Be happy to help you in any way I can and welcome aboard. For myself I have found this to be a tool. It will help keep you honest as to what you are eating. I started out with a 1,200 calorie base as that is what my doctor had recommended. At the time I was also using my recumbent bike a couple times a week, but I…

Whatever! I am 68 years old, not thirty something.

Been on this nearly a year. My caloric intake is normally between 1,200 where I can lose weight or 1,300 where I can maintain my weight. Due to age and health conditions (osteoporosis and osteoarthritis), bad knees (bone on bone arthritic) there's not a whole lot I can do that will improve a deteriorating condition. I was…

This is soooo true. You do not have to be skinny to be considered malnourished.

Interesting answer. Overeating exercise burn is a very good possibility as this website is not the most accurate and is guestimating.

LOL

Agree! You can't even cover the 4 basic food groups with that caloric intake.
-
I never "got" that one either. If you eat the calories you burned, then how the heck are you supposed to lose weight? This may be fine for someone maintaining, but not me for sure. If I eat burned calories up then I can't lose a thing.

I take a potassium pill every day as I take a diuretic in conjunction with Captopril for hypertension. My hypertension is hereditary, not from diet. I would agree the added potassium does help and so does staying away from gluten. Whole grain bread is better than whole wheat bread, etc. I never drank a lot of water before…

Water weight gain is common with child birth. Maybe dr. would give you a water pill to get rid of the excess. I had one pregancy where after the baby came, I weighed less than when I became pregnant, but I could not get into my clothes. Fantastic on the inches lost. That is a huge accomplishment seeing at your body gets…

Oh I believe it. I would love to sample everything there. I avoided buffets for the past couple of months just because of what you described as sounding like an overeater's paradise. I would have had the buffet, but stuck to protein and roasted veggies, skipped the mashed potatoes, breads and desserts and lost my money in…

To Kanras: Short and sweet, well said. I found after a month that this is how I had to do it as well. :blushing:

Pre diabetic bloodwork results and my doctors orders to cut back on sugar and white flour started the ball rolling. I started with a 1,200 calorie day which I increased to 1,300 after 6 weeks and still lost weight. I found Truvia was even better than Splenda and I use it in my coffee and I dust my strawberries with it.…

Was thinking the same thing myself when I read this. 135 lbs. @ 5"6" seems underweight for a guy. :noway:

Thank you, Karina, that reply was awesome. I hope many more will read it.

That was such good advice, thank you.

Did your trainer tell you that muscle weighs more than fat? Not to worry.
