I lost 20 lbs the last time I went vegetarian; this time I gained 10 lbs. It really depends on what you are eating. The same applies for vegans. Just because you are not eating meat/dairy/animal byproducts doesn't mean that you are not consuming calories.

Haha this reminds me of my late night snacking. You are not alone hun; just remember to make healthy choices. :)

I used to order this when I went out and thought it was healthy until I looked it up: Applebees Chicken Oriental Salad (grilled). 1290 Calories 81 grams of fat 12 grams of saturated fat I was seriously depressed for a few days after I found this out. O_O Here is the half salad (grilled) with no dressing: 360 calories 20…

After reviewing your diary I do not see any drinks logged (especially water). Keep in mind whenever you drink soda or any other type of beverage for that matter that you are also drinking empty calories. I recommend V8 if you enjoy drinking juice since it also has fiber and vitamins in it. As far as water goes, you should…

I went to Panera this last week and decided to treat myself without checking MFP first. Vanilla Cupcake = 450 calories. The sad thing is that it was very small. :(

B12 and Fish Oil (Omega 3) are very good to strengthen your hair and prevent loss. I also have had problems with this in the past and recommend using keratin as well.
-
I prefer the vanilla flavor but have found that it also has 2x the amount of sugar and carbs. So if you're a diabetic or watching those things you may want to go with the original kind.

Have you by chance had your pancreas enzymes checked out? I have had problems with nausea and centralized abdominal pain/discomfort for years. After my dr did some blood work he found that my triglycerides were elevated and that I was experiencing acute episodes of pancreatitus. May I ask how many grams of fat you eat each…

I have been eating the go veggie imitation cheese slices for over two years now and love them. To me processed cheese tastes bad with the exception of string cheese; I also drink soy/almond milk. They come in a wide variety; swiss, american and cheddar flavors and they also make a parmesan cheese powder. I think the only…

The last time I attempted a healthy lifestyle, I finally broke down and decided to buy some junk food at the gas station. Including combos, twinkies, corn nuts, beef jerkey and some other random things. Now a days my idea of a treat is a drink from starbucks, which I usually get with skim milk and no cream.

I also experienced pain about a month after quitting, but as misty said mine was from chewing too much gum. I am very glad to hear that you're sticking with it, salgalbp. :)

I am 5'5" and get called short all of the time. I keep having to remind people that I am average height. lol

I am not sure if this group is still active. I was pescatarian for a year but chose to revert back to a traditional diet due to stress and my past lifestyle. Over the past few years I have been continuing my research and learning more about the vegetarian lifestyle. I have been flexetarian for the past 4 months and have a…

I sometimes eat these or Luna bars to get by between meals if I am really busy, but I do not recommend them for meal replacement. Also, as msliu7911 has said they are good if you get low blood sugar like myself. I personally prefer the Special K protein drinks or protein bars if I am replacing a meal.

I portion my snacks out by serving in baggies; it seems to help. Also, perhaps try studying right after you eat.

My name is Lindsay and I am from North Dakota. I do not currently have a goal weight, but if I was to loose 40lbs it would put me closer to my recommended weight. I am 25 years old, 5'5" and 205lbs.

I am in as well. With any hope the weather will be nice enough here tomorrow to be outdoors.

I think when it comes down to it, it is more important to be healthy. If you are unsure how many calories you should be consuming in a day then you should probably see a dietitian. As it has been brought up in this thread, every body is different and has different nutritional needs.

Also wanted to mention that I do not like the taste of fat free cottage cheese and instead I buy 1%. Also have had bad luck with off brand stuff so I generally buy Land o Lakes. They have one that has extra protein in it as well.
-
I have always been a fan of cottage cheese but I find that I prefer to eat it with pears, strawberries, or fruit cocktail.

I am also an emotional eater; when I am stressed I find myself compulsively snacking.

I quit smoking three months ago and am still working on eating healthy. I find myself, like most smokers, to have an oral fixation so I tried the electronic cigarette. I use it when I am very stressed but usually I am fine just snacking on something when I get irritable. The problem with this is that I've become accustomed…

I quit using the patch and also eletronic cig. I would recommend starting yoga or something along those lines as a way to help you manage stress easier; I was a constantly anxious for about a month while my body went through withdrawals. I also found that chewing gum helped my cravings.
-
That too! Lol

- Junk food - Lack of motivation. - Emotional eating - Birth control - Convenience

Both my mother and boyfriend are smokers so I understand the temptation. I keep reminding myself that I could deal with the stress before I started smoking and that if I do then I will be letting myself down. It seems to work most days but if it gets really bad I have an electronic cigarette that I use. The fluid I bought…

I am not 100% sure if my weight is entirely to blame, but it has definitely affected my blood sugar and cholesterol. Due to my triglycerides being so high I also have a problem with my pancreas.

My first experience with Greek yogurt was also very negative. I tried it again but this time chose the kind with fruit in the bottom. You would not believe the difference it made! I also enjoy adding granola, trail mix, or sometimes other types of cereal to it. Definitely helps the texture. The big thing for me is that…

It helps to figure out how your relax the best prior to quitting. Perhaps get into the routine of taking a bath or reading. Exercise is also a great way to relieve stress.
