  • I also had to break down and buy a gym membership. I have asthma, so it's too dangerous to try and run when it's this cold (I also live in Canada, so...). I love the idea of putting the grips over your runners though, I use them even on my hiking boots when it gets really icy and I bought them at the dollar store!
  • I also agree that you should take the break - especially if your progress is slowing. Think of it this way - if you have nothing to lose (no pun intended) and all the time in the world to attain your goal, then you might as well give it a try. Oh, and let us know how it works out too!
  • I'm going to say that she hasn't lost any weight and that they just want our money!
  • Well, I completed the 2-week challenge and I can honestly say that I learned quite a bit... First, I truly felt better with refined sugar out of my diet. That is enough for me to keep it (mostly) up indefinitely. I don't think that I'll actively stay away from everything with refined sugar in it, but I will certainly make…
  • I can't believe I'm already on day 9 and still feeling great! I was a little more tired than usual last week, but I've been feeling much better since the weekend. I'm definitely considering keeping this up after the 2 week experiment. I was thinking perhaps I could eat sugar-free on weekdays and then be a little more…
  • Well, it's the end of the first (work) week and I'm feeling great! I've lost 2 pounds this week alone and I noticed another interesting thing... I don't think I noticed that I had an upset stomach most days until - it was gone. I don't know if I can attribute it directly to the lack of refined sugars and sweeteners, but…
  • Good morning! Let's change the topic since there seem to be way too many people here who aren't even interested in participating and I'm sorry, I think I'll trust my dietician and nutritionist where refined sugar is concerned! So, this morning I had a coffee with just milk - it was pretty good! I also really enjoyed my…
  • That's a great point - the idea is to reduce my sugar intake and replace "bad" sugar with "good" sugar. I guess the title "cleanse" was a little strong. But thanks for pointing out that there is no need to take "all the sugar" out of our diets.
  • I absolutely agree - the intent is not just to replace "bad" sugar with "good" sugar - but also to reduce the amount consumed. For example, a little honey in my greek yogurt this morning did the trick, but I'll try not use too much more today! You make an excellent point though and I look forward to seeing your diary!
  • That's exactly the problem I had - way too much artificial sugar in my yogurt, oatmeal, etc. All of the things that were low in calories and convenient for a life on the go. It look a lot more time to make my lunch today, but so far has been well worth it - yum! Good luck!
  • That's the idea! And thanks for the additional information and book reccommendation. You seem very successful in your weight loss endeavor!
  • I agree with everyone - why bother posting negativity? Go and find a topic you're interested in and leave us alone! What's wrong with cutting out sugar? Avoiding adult onset diabetes? Watching our intake of a highly refined product that has been proven to cause damage and hike insulin levels? No sense in wasting our energy…
  • I am absolutely going to continue eating fruit. My dietician mentioned that oranges, bananas and mangoes are very high in sugar, so I always just make sure I use moderation when planning my day. Good luck!
  • I am actually attempting this based on the reccommendation of a nutritionist (look up: Eat, Shrink and be Merry) as well as my own dietician. So far, so good!
  • I just stocked up at Bulk Barn - whole wheat flour, almonds and I couldn't live without my peanut butter! Organic PB was even on sale!
  • Dave Matthews Band!!! So excited! Have seen them 7+ times and haven't seen them recently at all - almost 7 years. What a great live show in Toronto;)
  • Agreed! I am also looking for a similar program to increase my speed on the 5km. Any suggestions?
  • My favorite film score is from the 1998 re-make of Great Expectations. It's such hauntingly beautiful music and is a really interesting mix of classical arrangements and modern rythyms. I've also always wanted to walk around with the theme music from Pirates of the Carribbean playing behind me... Oh, to be a pirate for a…
  • HELP! I have finished the NHS C25k program, but I need help with speed and pacing. The program was designed to run the 5km in 30 minutes. I am running for 30 minutes straight now, but nowhere near 5km!! I have tried to increase my pace, but then my endurance suffers and I feel like I am not accomplishing my goal. Any…
  • I also love every type of music - although it is harder for me to get into country music most of the time!!! Lately all I've been listening to during workouts is David Guetta. Both of his albums are awesome and have tons of collaborative efforts with other artists. I like to jog to "I Can Only Imagine" as it is my perfect…
  • I'm starting Zumba on the Xbox Kinect at my friend Shannon's house today! I love Zumba, but I've always done it in class in the past. It's been almost 2 years (other than on vacation), I miss my Zumba!! So much fun that it doesn't feel like a workout:)
