Well I find MFP usually estimates higher kcal for similar activities so I take it with a pinch of salt. I only eat back a fraction of them and only if I'm hungry.

My first sync happened today - a 91 minute cycle. The calorie counts differ but not by much. I'm so glad this has finally come.

I think this is quite normal in Scotland (and it would be cooked with only oats, water and salt), it's not to my taste though. I don't think a little sugar is wrong, OP will probably use less sugar than what's in a packet of instant oats. I like this recipe:…

I don't think I ever bumped a thread tbh. The only situation I think I would is if I found someone asking a question I would really like to know the answer but it's slipped down the discussion list (for whatever reason).

Ah, OK, I see why people would do that... but it does fill up interesting topics with noise which is a shame.

Although it seems we've agreed what the UK is, here is a great video explaining it more fully (it gets complicated) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNu8XDBSn10

I worked in a small office of coffee addicts a few years ago. If you wanted coffee you made a pot and offered everyone else a cup. That way one person gets a nice little displacement activity and everybody gets fresh coffee. We were never short on coffee.

Fat free oil? Just like sugar free tic-tacs... Tic-Tac USA (http://www.tictacusa.com/en/faqs) says: "since the amount of sugar per serving (1 mint) is less than 0.5 grams, FDA labeling requirements permit the Nutrition Facts to state that there are 0 grams of sugar per serving." In the UK…

I quickly looked at the Lean Gains site and I would say it seems to have more rules etc but I haven't checked it out fully. 5:2 is simply reduce calories to a quarter of normal for two non-consecutive days each week but it's flexible as to when those days are and when you eat on those days. For example, I try to fast every…

70 kcal/g is way off, even in another country I can't image it would be much different from this: http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=254945564

Oh I'm so glad I live in a mostly metric country. All food labels are in 100g (or ml, whichever is appropriate) and along side that is the info for a serving which is usually something like; one pack, one rasher, one biscuit, one pot, 1 average piece of fruit (plus weight), etc. I don't think I've seen many stupid serving…

Scrambled or as a simple omelette. Just egg, salt and pepper, and some butter. Delicious, sometimes the omelette gets come chives thrown in too. If I'm being good and not using butter, boiled eggs are easiest but I much prefer poached. Although, haven't mastered it yet - egg soup anyone?

A cow will produce milk for as long as she is milked, re-impregnation is not necessary. All the farmers I know take very good care of their animals, it is not in their interest to do otherwise. That said, I do like almond milk. :)

I've attempting it too. Been going 4 weeks now with a 3:1 routine instead of 5:2. It's working out to be pretty easy and seems to be working. I'm doing weights too so I feel like I'm eating quite a lot on normal days (2500 kcal) and I'm not sure how my weight has changed but my shape is moving in the right direction if the…

I'm more surprised by how few kcal some foods have and I'm trying to inch my diet towards those things (although sometimes cake/sweets get in there and ruin it). I always keep frozen berries in the freezer. I only let them defrost a little and they're like eating a cross between sweets and sorbet and they're only 30 to 50…

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning snacks, afternoon snack, evening snacks. I know it's not in order but I wanted minimal disruption to my records that used the defaults.

Brewed tea has less caffeine than brewed coffee so does have some caffeine but I find the effect seems to be gentler and longer lasting than the caffeine high and low from coffee. I'm not sure if that's just me or if there is something in that. Herbal and redbush (rooibos) teas are caffeine free so I have those at night.…

Cherry bakewell? Nice! I'll defo be trying that one out.

In order of descending quantity; Water, builders' tea, black coffee, Vimto.

Unless they have a sale on I didn't think H&B were particularly cheap. I haven't tasted H&B but I have tried some other chocolate flavoured shakes. PhD pharma whey ht+ was really tasty but pricey (although I think it's about £40 per 2.27kg in Tesco last time I checked) and the other one I've tried which doesn't taste quite…

Oh, that is interesting. I'd not head of that. Although, judging by Brad Pilon's blog post (http://bradpilon.com/weight-loss/the-52-diet-my-review/), he doesn't appear to feel that someone is ripping him off. He appears to be happy someone else has (hopefully independently) arrived at a similar conclusion on fasting has…

I know this is an old discussion but I've found this website to be very helpful: http://www.onlineconversion.com/weight_volume_cooking.htm It can convert US cups of many foodstuffs into grammes, pounds, or ounces.

In the context of tipping custom in the US I think the client was being an *kitten*, but I also think paying waiting staff $2.50 is a joke. As the employee I wouldn't have publicly posted it, as the employer I'm not sure what I would do. Probably just reprimand the employee and leave it at that, unless it was not a first…

The 5:2 diet stems from the BBC documentary Horizon: Eat, Fast and Live Longer by Dr Michael Moseley. Here is a link to information about the programme: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01lxyzc (although, not available on the BBC iPlayer to watch I recently found it on Daily Motion). Since then he's written a book with…

I really like almond milk, both sweetened and unsweetened. I tried hazelnut milk and didn't get on with it at all which is odd since I like almonds and hazelnuts equally. I haven't tried the other types of milk out there, like coconut, oat, and rice.

I would think local markets, Middle Eastern/Chinese supermarkets, loose supermarket fruit, frozen berries and aldi/lidl are your best bets. Also, food in season tends to be cheaper, I subscribe to a weekly email from http://www.eattheseasons.co.uk/index.php to get an idea of what I should be looking out for.

He's a jerk. Being causally more active is better then being sedentary and for many people that's a good start. Let's not put them off.

If you have the time this is the tastiest porridge I've ever had: http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/wordofmouth/2011/nov/10/how-to-cook-perfect-porridge
