  • When I started New Rules, I was 143 lbs (the before in the tank and shorts) and lost about 25 lbs on the program but it took me 8 months instead of 6 because I quit lifting for 2 months and then picked up where I left off (fell off the bandwagon temporarily).
  • Regardless of height - all will benefit from heavy strength training. :flowerforyou:
  • Yay! I'm the 2nd member. :) Accidently found this group but just bought this book last week and started reading as I finished New Rules for Women last week and wanted something new. BUT, I'm 6 weeks pregnant, so not really sure how serious I can do the program right now, but will give it my best (safe) shot and will…
  • Juicing is a tasty way to get MANY vitamins and nutrients in, in a small package. It doesn't have to be high in sugar and carbs - if you juice the right combinations. Most of the health benefits you are referring to come from Green Juices. There are many recipes on the internet. As others said, just a little bit of fruit…
  • I don't get hungry - but that's because I eat all the time - lots of protein and fiber. For those having trouble getting your calories in and having nausea with eating - time to see your doctor and get to the bottom of this dangerous mystery!
  • Wow, great work! I see a huge difference in your legs and midsection! Your hard work and dedication are paying off! Woohoo!
  • Don't ever, ever give up. Remind yourself why you are here. Press on! You can do this... just be patient! :flowerforyou:
  • You say, "I still have the power to choose how I respond to my life and no one or anything can take that away from me." And then you make good choices, one day at a time. One choice at a time. My situation is different, I had two miscarriages and lost three of my senior pets in all about 6 months. But I still chose to have…
  • Mine too. It says I weigh 125 (I was actually 135 and lied when I turned 16 and have NEVER changed the number all these years - I'm 31 now) - in my current picture I really weigh about 160. Now I weigh 118. It's up for renewal this June! :) But I'm pregnant.... So.....
  • As others said, stay away from the fake sweeteners or chemically altered ones. Just sugar in moderation. Try some honey for some added anti-viral benefits. :)
  • Noticed a huge reduction in mine - it's nearly all gone. I do heavy weight training 3x a week along with clean eating! So, yes it can be done!
  • Just exercise in the morning. :) But yes, I think you will get results with 3 days a week of each exercise.
  • Bake chicken tenders on Sunday - so they are pack ready for the rest of the week. I pack: Salad greens - spinach and spring mix blue cheese crumbles walnuts baked chicken tenders my homemade salad dressing (oil and vinegar) Yummy! For snacks I pack: A piece of fruit - an apple, banana or orange Ants on a log - celery…
  • Banana, strawberries, small scoop of vanilla frozen yogurt, peanuts, a teeny bit of chocolate syrup and caramel syrup. Enjoy!
  • I love to help others, but struggle keeping up with everyone - SO, if you're ok with me not individually congratulating you on every under calorie goal and calorie burned, add me. What am I good for then? Answering specific questions and I write a weekly blog which (I hope) is motivating to others.
  • This post title made me laugh! I too, have secretly been wanting to try eggplant - especially eggplan parmesan for a while now. I might just have to go and do it now!
  • Alright, you can't spot reduce. You can either lose fat or gain muscle and very, very few people can do both at the same time. Alot of people like to focus on fat loss first and then focus on a clean bulk to add muscle. Either way, start pumping some iron - lots of it. You want to eat lots of protein to help conserve…
  • I noticed I was irritable a couple of weeks before Christmas and wasn't sure why.... I later learned it was hormones as I found out I was pregnant! Make sure you are eating a healthy, balanced diet, getting plenty of rest, moderate exercise and lots of water - and I like the suggestion of others of supplementing…
  • You have to eat to lose. I always found upping my calories got my metabolism going again. But I'm glad you have found something that works for you! Thanks for sharing your experience!
  • This is me exactly!
  • I peeked in your diary and I think you are feeling hungry because (IMHO) your protein is too low. Sure, you're making that number red, but I think MFP's default setting is too low. Aim to eat 1 gm protein per pound of lean body mass. Also, fiber, fiber, fiber! Try to get 35 grams of fiber a day. Your body has to work much…
  • Can't go wrong with carrots and granny smith apples!
  • If you are not sure about the HRM being accurate eat back 1/2 of what it says.
  • The theory is physiology. It has to do with the sodium potassium pumps in your kidneys as well. Upping your potassium will also speed the release of water. And digital body fat monitors are good for tracking trends. I'm very happy with the one I use. But the manual talks about making sure you are at the same hydration,…
  • Well, why not make a protein shake at home and then drink it at work (just shake it up when you get there - but blend at home). 1 scoop vanilla whey 1 tb cocoa powder 1 cup blueberries 1 cup almond milk I think it's a little over 200 calories, but I also add wheat germ (for fiber) and sometimes super green food powder…
  • I know what you mean - there were times I thought I wouldn't get off - ever. But keep doing all the things for fat loss - clean diet, heavy weight lifting, HIIT. Mine went away at about 18% body fat (flat), then abs started to show around 17%. My ultimate goal was to get to 15% but that's on hold now due to pregnancy. I…
  • Here's my recommendation that has worked for me: Eat Clean: http://www.extremely-fit.com/fitness-tips/2011/01/8week-transition-diet/ That's how I started. I went in my diary and custom set my diary to 40% carbs and 30% fat (you need fat - just pick healthy ones) and 30% protein but there is a little wiggle room here - see…
  • At home - in my birthday suit on an empty bladder, but at the doctor's office, I wear whatever cute outfit I've picked for the day - BUT I ALWAYS take my shoes off, even if it's those tough, tall, zip to your knee boots!
  • This sounds great - but like alot of work (which isn't bad). However, I recommend doing some Squats, Lunges, Deadlifts, Bench presses, push-ups, and or chin-ups. (or buy the book The New Rules of Lifting for Women by Lou Schuler for about $10 on Amazon). And eat a clean diet... And then you will have amazing everything on…
  • Aw, thanks everyone! I just followed the strength exercises in the book and lifted the heaviest that I could. I also did my best (some days better than others) at eating clean with macros of 40% carbs, 30% fats, and 30% carbohydrates. It took me a little nearly 8 months to do the book (instead of six) as I stopped working…
