  • I like: http://skinnyms.com http://wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes The skinnyms.com webpage has more than just food. I think the recipes look good, and I've liked the few I've tried. I'm excited to try a lot more! The whole foods page isn't always low cal, but it's searchable for what you want (high fiber, low carb, etc.) and…
  • I use the phone app, and I let MFP pick my cals. HOWEVER, I did have the same problem you describe, of eating according to goal (not always eating all of my cals back) and not losing any more after 30 pounds. I didn't lose a thing for a month! I think I figured out the problem, for me anyway. When you type in how many…
  • How much to budget depends quite a bit on your food preferences. Do you eat meat? Limiting the amount of meat you eat can really save money. The most inexpensive healthy meat in my area is chicken and frozen fish (about $4 per pound on sale for tilapia, and cod and pollack are even cheaper). This can last for 4 meals as…
  • Great job! Well done!
  • Sounds good! For every recipe I remember reading on the stovetop, it seems like they encourage dunking in egg or butter to make the coating stick. On a whim, I tried without these things, and while the crust isn't overly thick, the coating sticks just fine to raw fish. Enough coating to add flavor but not a lot of…
  • My vote is the same suggestion I gave for the Kale thread a minute ago: Heat a can of chicken/beef/veg broth in a large pot on the stove. Add lots of minced garlic and red pepper flakes in broth, and put in cut up kale. (You can easily fill a pot with a bunch of kale, but it will cook down.) Cover and cook on medium high…
  • I love kale (and other greens) cooked like this - it's so easy! Heat a can of chicken/beef/veg broth in a large pot on the stove. Add lots of minced garlic and red pepper flakes in broth, and put in cut up kale. (You can easily fill a pot with a bunch of kale, but it will cook down.) Cover and cook on medium high for 5…
  • I want a dream vacation where I will use my fitness! My plan is Machu Picchu!
  • I like Margaret Attwood and classics as well. Have you read the Claudius books by Robert Graves? My opinions are below - hopefully you can find some prospects. :) Classics I Love (AKA: you've probably read this, but just in case): -Jane Eyre (I'm sure you've read this one, but I'm afraid not to type it) -North and South by…
  • I think he could have handled it better, but I'm sure you're right when you say men can't win sometimes. Losing weight is such a highly emotional topic for many women (including me), and we go from "I can do this" to "this is impossible and I feel like a failure" very easily sometimes. I understand stress (financial, etc.)…
  • I was talking about the crazy amounts of salt, sugar, and fat often added to processed foods. High levels of these things in our diet are not healthy. Sorry if I was being unclear.
  • Processed food is a spectrum, but is used as an industry term as shorthand for things like Doritos, hamburger helper, and all of those "convenience foods" that are prepared and available at the store. As others have mentioned, I suggest being a label reader. If you're trying to lower your consumption of salt, sugar, or…
  • I'm sorry if you addressed this already, but if so I must have missed it... What about your inches? Your weight is stable, but your body might be getting smaller all of the time. Muscles weigh more than fat, so maybe you're burning your fat, though the scale doesn't show it. :)
  • Congrats on the new job! It sounds like maybe policies are improving or that your area store is enlightened. I'm so glad! I like the products (bras in particular), but I definitely feel like I'm not wanted as a customer at the store. They USED to carry larger sized bras in store, and now they don't even have samples to try…
  • Are you still exercising? My mom had a similar problem... Her weight didn't change but she stopped exercising. She went up 2 clothes sizes because lean muscle was going away as she gained fat.
  • I have a long way to go, but I keep hearing if you're going to eat a "bad meal" you need to eat fewer calories a few days and up your cardio those few days as well. (I've read this on several message board posts.). Good luck!
  • If you like The Daily Show, you can't go wrong with The Bugle. It's hilarious - though I have almost skidded off of the treadmill laughing. :) I agree with the Answer Me This suggestion, it's good fun. I also really like Greg Proop's podcast. It covers a lot of ground, even topics I thought I didn't care about. (I was…
