Usually it's whole grain wheat for me (I look for the Whole Grain Council logo to make sure it's really whole grain). I do enjoy the occasional slice of zucchini bread too for a healthy treat.

Calories IN as well as calories OUT matter equally. I've been diligent about keeping my intake to the recommended levels and also been diligent about hitting the gym on a regular basis as well as getting extra exercise minute each day by walking whenever possible, taking the stairs at work, etc. About to go into a…

For me it's been getting easier each week (even as I increase the distances and have fewer breaks in between). Can't wait until I'm running in races.

I don't count my coffee as water

Can't change the past. Eat healthy the rest of the day, then tomorrow commit to going the entire day eating and exercising in a healthy manner.

For me it was when they did an end of the year health assessment at work. My BMI and Body fat were well into the obese category, cholesterol and blood pressure were high and this motivated me to get off my *kitten* and start exercising and to start eating better. 13 months later I'm down 75 pounds, have gone from 40 inch…

Exercise can be a drag at time, but after losing 75 pounds over 13 months, I'm now very much in love with exercising.

Not to mention all the energy stepping around trying to position yourself to catch the snowflake. Might lead to a rather nasty neck ache if you did that for an extended period of time of course. :)

Other than black coffee (lots of it) early in the morning, and a protein shake (some of which I pour over my morning bowl of oatmeal), water is all I ever drink. Didn't drink a single sip of soda pop in 2013.

Through sheer will power, I made it through the last few weeks and lost about a pound over that time. Had to turn down tons of goodies. Had lots of family get togethers where I often found myself hitting the veggie trays really hard (didn't take any dips) and tried to very sparingly take the occasional nibble of something…

Gym was open and I did my leg day workout.

I am. Going to go over to the in-laws who are having family get together and serving up fajitas. (which is good because I can have them without a shell/tortilla and control what toppings I use) Will go easy on the cheese and sour cream, heavy on the salsa and guacamole. Everyone out there have a safe and happy New Year!

I'm just a few hours away from completing 2013 without a drop of soda pop. Other than early morning coffee (black) and a pre-workout protein shake each day (some of which is poured onto my oatmeal), I drink nothing at all except water. Helps to put lots of ice in it so it is nice and cold.

Road biking and mountain biking each have their benefits. That's why I own both a road bike and mountain bike. :)

Wake at 4:30, quick breakfast, then hit the gym right at 5. Great way to start the day.

I'm in the gym 7 days a week first thing each morning (gets me going and leaves me ready to face work on weekdays) but rotate things so I don't hit the same area all the time. Mon and Thursday are upper body, Wednesday is leg day, Saturday I do a low weight circuit routine over all my body parts, and Tuesday, Friday, and…

Pizza is a food that just seems to pack on the pounds when I eat it. I generally avoid it, but when the entire family gets together at someone else's home and pizza is served, it's eat some pizza or go hungry. Had such a gathering last Sunday night (helping the grand-daughter make cookies/cupcakes to leave out for Santa)…

Might just be that if you've added a lot of muscle and eat frequently, that your metabolism is racing and burning more than the calories you are consuming. Wonder if you couldn't start eating more calories (healthy calories of course) each day. Try munching on nuts. Very healthy and loaded with calories. Peanut butter has…

130 pounds. Wow that's amazing. Congrats

When there are unhealthy foods readily available and I am tempted, I try to remember a saying that my mother used to have posted on her fridge. Essentially it says that a chief source of unhappiness is giving up what we want most in the future for what we can have right now. Last few days with goodies all over the place…

Right in the first section (beverages) no coffee would be a deal breaker for me.

At 19 you're still very young and have lots of years left to find the right guy. I think that there is someone out there for everyone. I was always shy when I was younger and didn't have a significant relationship with anyone until I was 23. Then I met a wonderful lady who became my soulmate and the love of my life. Next…

Generally when I run or bike outside on a windy day, if it is feasible, I try to run into the wind on the first half and then half the wind at my back to return to my starting point. But when you factor in low temperature and/or precipitation, it's just going to be a challenging workout.

A good attitude (no make that GREAT attitude) to have is not to fret about gaining a bit if you enjoyed the day with friends and family and ate or exercised differently than usual. The past is in the past and you can simply make a commitment to get back on track with whatever plan you're on beginning today.

With the gym being closed yesterday, weather being cold outside, and having to make trips to 3 different family homes (which included having to help my wife prepare and transport food to all three of them), I wasn't able to exercise at all and had to deviate from my regular eating patterns. I had to use self control to…

It may be inevitable since so much of the next few days will be spent at gatherings away from home. I'm just going to watch portion sizes, log food based on my best 'guesses' and enjoy time with loved ones. Then come Thursday morning I'll go back to my usual routine.

I admire anyone who is trying to get in better shape whether they've been coming for a long time, or are just starting out. Yeah it will be a bit crowded in the near future and some of those who are joining over the next few weeks won't be in the gym after a few months, while others will stick with it, but all of them…

Every morning, in my undies, as soon as I get up and use the bathroom before ingesting any drink or water. I track my weekly minimum, maximum, and average on a spreadsheet to see the overall trend.

Don't be afraid to try some upper body exercises.
