  • I went through a very hard period where I felt like I was constantly being battered for my change in food choice. I was the main cook for our group of friends- and still will happily cook for any of them, but our family's choice to change last September did not go over well. I had friends insult me, scream at me, ridicule…
  • 0: Are you are strict vegan, ethical vegan, or strict vegetarian, or other? The plan is to be a strict vegan, but I'm relatively new at this. 1. How has your health changed since your transition into veganism? Has it improved? My chronic migraines went away. I've lost about 32lbs, have a lot more energy, a lot less tummy…
  • sounds good to me, I"ll have to look for that recipe

  • The Vegan Committee should have put the rules, regulations and membership requirements in place before all of the Vegan Cookbooks were labeled. I don't have a single one that says "Plant based diet cookbook". I think there is a difference between one slip up in months or years vs intentionally eating non vegan food…
  • I call myself Vegan. I don't wear leather, buy animal based, or tested products, but I did have a slip at my favorite mexican place and had some cheese dip. T hat being said- I've only been doing this from September and hearing that I shouldn't call myself vegan because of that slip is both frustrating and disheartening.…
  • redhead- I eat real bread all of the time and it's vegan... though I make it fresh. I will admit the last time we went to our favorite mexican place I ate some of the cheese dip stuff.... then was sick as a dog. I don't really have the urge to eat cheese since that and that was my last lingering craving.
  • Hope it's still working out for you!

  • I've never been- are you staying in a hotel or rental? Will you have access to a kitchen? Worst case scenario you can grab fresh veggies and dressing and go green crazy for a month =/ . Maybe look up some raw vegan recipes for some things you can make anywhere? You may have to buy a basic knife, bowl, cutting board etc but…
  • I've actually gotten two great responses 1 from the superintendent and the other from my daughter's principal that they will be discussing it at their upcoming meeting. So I'm hopeful. I do understand about donations- I honestly would rather they throw the certificates from businesses away and ask that parents donate other…
  • That's the kind of change that gets me really excited. Our school sickens me. My daughter's teacher gives out sodas and little debbie snack cakes for doing their work well, and when she forgot her lunch one day she thought to get peanut butter and jelly at least but they refused to let her have water to drink so she had…
  • Bummer I was really hoping to find some locals =) Calliou- My advice- do what feels right for you. I'm lucky in that my family transitioned with me so I had support, but I would have done it alone if I had to. I went from pure carnivore to pure vegan overnight, literally. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

  • Check out open food diaries and learn learn learn, and ask questions. I've only been vegan since September 1st but I am still trying to learn- I don't think of it as work I'm actually enjoying it . I watch documentaries (though I think I've run out now =) ) , read all of the books I can get my hands on ( vegan for life I…
  • I believe everyone else is right- not enough protein will stop your muscle growth (you'll be softer) and not enough calories can actually put you in starvation mode so I'd up your calories and protein - it's not the fruit doing it.
  • Thanks for the invite!
  • I can relate I just posted something similar the other day! I've decided to take sugar off of my tracker because I'm not giving up my daily fruit and I don't really eat extra sugar outside that.
  • Good luck I hope it's yummy!
  • I like peta's pancake recipe if I add vanilla and yesterday we tried http://www.ambitiouskitchen.com/2012/02/lemon-blueberry-quinoa-pancakes/ and they were really good . I of course replaced the egg requirement with egg replacement powder mixed appropriately and greek yogurt with (I was going to use coconut milk yogurt but…
  • I'm happy to have any new vegan friends too!
  • I loved - Hungry For Change.
  • My mom was not so much giving me a hard time as much as expressing her worry that we'd be left out Easter dinner and she has no idea how to cook anything vegan. This is our first holiday with my family since we switched and I'll be away from my pantry/cooking utensils so I'm scared but I just told her I'd cook up a dish or…
  • Sorry to Hijack the thread with another question but- I promised myself an upgrade to my juicer if I could stick with juicing until June and have been thinking I"d go Vitamix. Do you get a really smooth consistency or does it all come out more chunky/pulpy? Do you peel apples and stuff first or does it all go in?…
  • I went cold turkey- my entire family did! Dumped out the fridge, freezer and pantry in the morning - took a trip to the grocery to resupply and was vegan by lunch Sept 1st. But I have a bad habit of being an all or nothing girl.
  • I personally put a little earth balance vegan buttery spread stuff on the top of mine
  • Hello all! My name is Kimberly I'm happily married for almost 11 years and have 2 kiddos. I'm excited to see a Vegan group here- I feel all lost and alone as a vegan in the midwest! I became a vegan at the age of 34 on September 1st 2012- not that long ago at all! I originally went vegan for health reasons- I suffered from…
