I don't do 5:2, I do Leangains 18:6. It works great for me. Ultimately though, it still comes down to calories in versus calories out. You still have to accurately track your intake. IF is not some magic pill that will make you lose weight. The reason I do it is I don't mind missing breakfast and that allows me to have…

Pfft!! you are not old. Me personally, if I am going to run I want to do it outside. If I run inside on a treadmill there has to be people around me doing the same or it just sucks. Not that I am talking to them, just seems to add a little more drive. I don't have that issue on the elliptical. I can do an hour on the…

Go to YouTube. Look for "strengthtraining06". There is a great video on there that Chris Duffin did with SilentMike. They went over the basics of doing a squat.

You are missing the point of the above posters. Everyone takes age into account when calculating caloric intake, but the difference is not enough to make it an excuse of why you are not losing weight. It is really frustrating because I see so many people trying to use age as an excuse to explain their lack of weight loss.…

One thing I have learned on this site, is do not make assumptions. Remember, there are lots of definitions of what "clean eating" is. Also, clean eating does not equal eating at a deficit. You can easily over consume while "eating clean". I am outta here. Time to act like I am working.

First of all, after you are around awhile you will find that "clean eating" is a buzz word that tends to bring out a lot of emotion. There is no clear definition of what clean eating is. Bottom line, you need to eat the way that is going to make you successful. For each person it is different but ultimately, no diet works…

Agree. All I see is people giving good advice. Another piece of advice, this is the internet. Not everyone has perfect writing that can convey what they may mean versus what is wrote. I have learned it is best to try and leave out emotion when reading responses. Instead try and just read the words.

The biggest mistake we make when losing weight is over thinking and stressing over a "cheat" meal. More than once I have had a "cheat" meal turn into and event because I stressed over it. Not anymore. We celebrated Easter on Saturday and I ended up eating a bunch of candy and other stuff I originally had no intention of…

I know this goes against the popular message, but I fully agree with @AllanMisner. I use a polar when weight lifting, I enter the calories in MFP and I consistently lose. I have been doing this for a long time. It may not be 100% accurate, but when it comes to cutting/bulking, nothing is except that it is about calories in…

Yay, this again. There is so much wrong with this and your other posts in this thread already. Unless you have a medical condition that dictates no wheat, then there is nothing wrong with bread. White or Wheat. Whole wheat is healthier for you, but ultimately, when it comes to weight loss there is nothing wrong with white…

@NekoneMeowMixx , Do not sell yourself short. If you set your mind to it, you could out bench half the dudes at the gym. I follow a lot of people on Instagram and Facebook that lift. There are two woman on there that constantly amaze me. Leanna Carr and Kim Valentine. Kim just set a world record for the squat in her weight…

they are not bad for you unless you eat more than your daily goal. I had two servings of brown rice for lunch with kielbasa and brocolli. It was a very satisfying lunch B)

Wow, how many sugar threads can we have in one day? Could it be because it is April 1st? Or is it just a normal day at MFP?
-
I don't track sugars. They are just a form of carbohydrate and unless you have a medical condition they are irrelevant to the over all scheme of weight loss. In fact I removed them from the list of macro nutrients I track and added fiber. That is more important for over all health.

I hope not, because I think eating the peelings is bad for you ;)

Holy crap, what size banana's are you getting. The average banana I eat is less than 100 calories. Usually right around 90 calories. Because I know they can be high in calories I always weigh them out in grams. Either way, I agree with other posters, fruit can really get away from you fast. I used to do WW and did the free…

I would highly recommend you follow the link to the post below. Best Post to read when getting started!!! It is my belief you are setting yourself up for failure and I am sure plenty of others on here will agree with me. There are multiple reasons why I believe this, but I believe you do not need a 45 year old man telling…

Someone kind of hinted at this, but I think we need more information. What is your height, weight and age? This all is factored into how those numbers are calculated.

^^^^BroScience^^^^^ Your body does not operate on the clock like you do. It doesn't care what time it is. It all balances out in the end.

Wrong, AM breakfast is not necessary for a health lifestyle. It is only in the last 1,000 or so years that we as humans suddenly decided that it was a necessity. Our bodies are actually quite adaptable. I used to eat an AM breakfast because I thought I was supposed to. Then on the weekends I would get busy and forget till…

Why?? My normal bread is 90 calories for 2 slices with 6g of protein, 2 fat, and 5 fiber. Or sometimes I will treat myself with my favorite. 2 slices for 200 calories with 10g of protein, 4 fat, and 8 fiber. Looks like a lot of good nutrients to me. Good luck with that though. I tried cutting it and ended up over doing it…

Actually WW has changed that now. They claim water is the best, but have backed off on it being the only option for healthy diet.

I have read more than one article that says the whole 8 glasses of water or so many an ounce per pound of body weight is all bunk. One was from the MAYO Clinic but I am not sure where the link is right now that I used to use. This subject comes up often. As long as your urine is not concentrated yellow and you aren't…

Quoted for truth!!!! I follow IF (Intermittent Fasting). I don't eat till after 12 noon every day and stop eating at 8 in the evening. I have had no negative effects. I follow a group on Facebook and there are some that only have a 4 hour window they eat in. I thought I might have trouble missing breakfast but I didn't…

Try JEFIT.com. They have an app and you can set up workouts online. I haven't done a lot with it, so not sure how good it is, but it if it works as advertised it should be good. I am currently doing Stronglifts 5x5 and that program has a great app. Once you get it started it does all the weight calculations and rests for…

I am currently doing Stronglifts 5x5. I have done tried 5/3/1 and also some other programs over the last 2 years, but I needed something that had a great app I could use on my phone and the 5x5 program does. It even allows you to modify sets, time, and add accessory lifts if you want. I also really like it because it is a…

LoL, so true. I was at my parents a few weeks ago and my mother brought out some cheese and crackers. She was raving how healthy the vegetable crackers were. I read the label and pointed out that 3 crackers were 70 calories, which is fine, but by no means were they what she thought. She assumed because they were made from…
