I found that keeping track of my calories on this site, even after having reached my goal weight works well, but sometimes even gaining a pound or two I notice that some of my pants are just a hair tighter than they should be so that's always a good indicator as well!!! :p

Indeed!

Anyone can add me... I log daily! :)

I was in the same boat as you. Read my bio. Not much else to say. I had too much to lose, including flying my plane with a diabetes diagnosis!!! I turned it around and if I could do it anyone can... just needs a serious commitment on your part!

I start doing weights at 7 pm for about an hour and a half, then a 30 minute break then my cardio. I have no issues. I can't work out in the morning and I sure as hell don't like getting up at 5 am to work out. Once you get into it it's easy and I sleep like a baby!

Type 2 here, well was, no sign of it now. Read my intro on my main page for what I did to get rid of it... Yes, technically I'm still diabetic but you can't tell. Even my A1c levels are 100% normal, and have been for nearly two years! Last one was 4.9, can't get better than that. My diabetes was totally related to eating…

I can't say this study is inaccurate, it does need a lot more work and tests BUT... right now I'm leaning towards this being BS. I cut out pretty much all sugars and crap food, my intake sugars were replaced by Splenda, and I use a lot of it!!! From coffee to baking and even add a couple of tablespoons to my protein…

Not sure if I understand the question but I'll give it a shot... so Yes and no... A calorie is a calorie, but some food has complex nutrients and other factors that require more energy to burn it... not the calorie itself but the food item so if something has 100 calories, like sugar and you compare it to something more…

Yeah the carbs are bad for feeling full. For instance my breakfast during weekdays is a bowl of shredded wheat (the big monsters, not the little things covered in sugar) when I have that I HAVE to have something to eat around 10 am, usually a tomato sandwich or something or I get insane hungry! But on the weekend I have a…

Feel free to add me, always looking for fellow happy type motivators! :)

Very possible. I lost 65 lbs in just over 3 months. Didn't plan it, just hit the gym, followed my healthy diet and the weight came off. Just keep at it, it will come off. It might not come off this fast for you, but 40 lbs in 22 weeks is certainly doable! :)

That's awesome. I remember when I hit that number too, something about it! :D

I work out exclusively at home. Built a decent gym in my basement. Lots of gyms in my area that I went to for a while, but lots of idiots there, yapping instead of working out, hogging machines, etc. Not cheaper by any means after all the gear I bought, but I enjoy working out at home WAY more than I did at the gyms. :)

O'Ryan's Sour Cream and Onion potato chips!!! Miss those something fierce!!!

Sorry to say but there is not much you can do. He lacks the motivation to help himself and lives with enablers (parents).... I was in the same boat with my wife *****ing all the time about my weight, I half-*kitten* tried things but never stuck to it, her complaints were ignored and often pissed me off. I was also a heavy…

My diary should be open, my workout is in there, but I'm not sure if it comes up since it doesn't show any calories burned in the weight lifting part. My workout is pretty straight forward. It takes about 1.5 hours a day for my lifting and then I finish up with 30 minutes of cardio. During the heavy weight loss time I was…

It did in my case. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and was a carb fiend!!! When I stopped and switched to "good carbs" whole wheat and what not I lost 65 lbs in 3 months (diet and a hard core workout routine) but the I'm sure the lower/good carb switch had a lot to with it. If you stick with it, the cravings go away.…

It is hard! LOL... When I lost the 65 lbs I was down to 185.... I'm at about 200 (weight gain is from muscle gain :) ) now my goal is to get to 210 but with a 34" waist. My waist now is 36"... I've given myself a year to do this but I think I will hit that goal before then, depends. I'm not in my 20's anymore so building…

Hi talesofintere! I was in the same boat, diagnosed last year in January during a yearly physical. Since I get a physical every year and I was fine the year before it was caught very early so I was lucky that way. I was always in pretty good shape growing up but the last 10 years or so before my diagnosis I had turned into…

Hell YES!!! Although some seasons are a bit slow, it's probably one of the best shows on TV in the last 10 years!!!

Depends on your goals... When I wanted to drop the weight fast I did the weight lifting and worked my way up to 1 hour of cardio a day 6x a week. Excess cardio messes with muscle build though so after I hit my goal weight then I dropped down to 30 minutes of cardio a day 4-5x a week. Nothing will drop weight faster than…

When I needed the lbs to come off fast I started by doing weights 6 days a week for about 1 hour, then a 30 minute break then cardio on an eliptical until I got up to an hour. At first it was hard, could only go about 20 minutes on the base setting of the machine. Took about 2 months before I got up to an hour then started…

Meh, my wife was after me for years to get back into shape, never stuck. It took my doctor to call me fat to get me going. Funny how that works out sometimes...
-
Meh, I've sent them out like that and received them. I usually do it if I read something interesting that they posted, then I check their profile and if I see stuff in common or I like, I'll friend request. Pain in the *kitten* to small talk in a friend message... what more are you gonna learn about me in two or three…

The theme from "24" sounds about right at this time... LMFAO!!!

I disarm bombs and poke dead bodies (trying to figure out how they died) for living! :noway: P.S. If you would have told me I would be doing this as a living 20 years ago I'd have called you crazy!!!

I'm living proof that over 40 means nothing. Food intake is probably 75% more important than exercise when it comes to weight loss. You can work out like a fiend forever but if your diet is crummy the weight won't come off. Check your food intake with others on here, it might surprise you! :)

Supervisor I have now is probably the best I've ever had!!!! His boss though is a nice guy but over his head and as my boss says all the time "**** rolls down hill!" :(

OK word to the wise. NorcicTrack is JUNK!!! I have a NT treadmill that has held up, what I would call OK, but has had numerous issues. I also have the Elliptical E15 and it has been a disaster!!! Not only the machine, which has had serious issues but the customer service from NT is the most horrible I've ever seen. There…
