I happen to be a Mrs. Again, I did not intend to come off as arrogant.

I would not expect any less. You clearly missed my point. I already know 99% of America eats factory farmed meat. I'm not looking to change anyone.

What is the correct platform? How about we all sit down and watch Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution and talk about what delicious foods the kids in Los Angeles County were feed in school. I mean...is there a correct platform? Do you think it would be better if we all watched Biggest Loser together and had a chat after. I'm…

We call it Happy Meat in my house. :) And yes, I agree with you on Ruth's Chris. Did not want to be called rude, or disrespectful so I waited for someone else to point the corn fed situation. Corn fed cows and grain fed cows have to be fed antibiotics because their bodies cannot digest grain diets. If you feed a cow grass…

ahhhh.

Hence the word tidbit. Are you sure you eat 100% Western? Do you eat things like sushi, Greek salad, rice, beans? I said watch a documentary or read a book and take out some tidbits. I did not say "bow down to the glory that is Forks over Knives"

Unhealthy how? I did not miss a day of work for a sick day last year and I've never been overweight. How is eating from farm-to-table unhealthy?
-
Of course! I would never tell someone else what to do! That was not the point. For burgers I enjoy Met Burger Bar (so tasty) and instead of Taco Bell I prefer Chipotle since they support small family farms. So yes, of course I enjoy tasty treats.

1. I mentor college students 2. I teach children at a farm 3. I work with dental students I'm not going to stop trying to educate people. This country is in a lot of trouble. Have you seen King Corn? Have you read Eating Animals? What about Forks over Knives. Just like the forums on MFP these documentaries (or books) can…

Amen. We're less sick in my house by being mostly local and mostly GMO free. It's not just that though--we have a lot of fun making meals together. We're not overweight. I just travel a lot for work and I've found MFP very helpful to stay on track weight-wise.

Thank you. My state is going to start taxing an extra $200/month per person per month in income tax. Not a whole lot left to go out to dinner and I'd rather support a friend or family member's restaurant than a large corporation. :drinker:
-
Yep. Not saying I'm better than anyone. If you think that, you clearly missed the point. I work on a farm so it's as topic I get fired up about. There's so few farmer's left in AMERICA it's not even listed as a job on the US census. It's all corporations now. And it's a topic I'm passionate about. Not better than anyone.…

My husband grew up loving fondue. My friends from place like Germany also love fondue (they grew up with it too). Maybe it depends on the culture? We have old family recipes written down and we treasure them--yep, fondue recipes have been passed down!

Sorry. I was not intending to be rude. Just something I'm passionate about. I work on a farm so I tend to get easily...fired up. When it comes to chain restaurants and people mistaking chain food for real food. Not trying to insult anyone's choices. We all work hard for a living. Not trying to offend anyone, so I'm sorry…
-
That is fun. I agree!
-
Thank you. Yes...chain restaurants (yes, even Legal Seafoods) is not healthy. For those of you that eat at Applebees you should read the book about the woman that went undercover at Walmart, Applebees, and picking produce in Central Valley CA. It was actually a really amazing book. Most chains do not actually "cook" the…

haha, no. I would never work there. I'm sure it's okay...good tips, right?
-
Thank you. Finally a voice of reason. :) Going out with friends in family is a rare treat. At least in my house.

Well people have really jumped all over me. There were quite a few that agreed though. In general this conversation has been just strange....I mean in a ****ty economy people are getting excited about cooking their own food? I don't understand it. I've found the level of just plain rudeness to be really out of control. 3…

Glad I could annoy the piss outta you.

Yes, and grease too. But just wear something easy to wash like a tee shirt.

It's much more fun to cook at home with friends and family. And easier to log. I just really can't believe how many of the people on MFP have been directly rude to me. I never said I don't like people that disagree with me. I never said I hated the melting pot. I'm just trying to be honest. It's hard to say what you mean…
-
You simmer down.
-
Actually I have three homes (we work full time and run two side businesses) I don't dislike those that have different opinions than me. Stop jumping to conclusions. And as I stated before I don't dislike the melting pot. Me, my friends, and my family (all healthy weight people for the most part) would rather spend our…

Sorry to beat a dead horse. Those that made fun of my points just don't get it and that is EXTREMELY frustrating even if no ill intent was meant.
-
No, because it's supporting an industry in Maine. :) When the shrimp is from overseas instead of the US that's kinda crappy. That's all. US shrimp is mighty fine. I'm not missing the point on Legal's. Yes, it's a chain and local but my employer had a bad experience two or three times so it's soured my opinion on how they…
-
I guess I should elaborate. My work used to do two dinners per year at Legal's. The management got all wonky and they started to force "extra" steak and lobster dinners on our attendees to take home (they had a quota for the room which was awkward for our attendees). They also made us buy two extra bottles of wine each and…

It's Onesnap. Small "s"

I don't catch the seafood. I get it from the fish monger at the farmer's market.

thank you. Finally someone else has paid the $150 I spoke of
