I put on a shirt yesterday that my girlfriend was going to throw away awhile back because she said "you're had this forever! You're never going to fit in it!" Yeah? Now it fits and is actually a little loose! Eat that!

This is exactly why I haven't given up. I've wasted so many years of my life. Blew through my 20's without really accomplishing anything and never did anything to remember. Now that I'm in my 30's, it's time to start going out there and being one bad mofo

@amynb524 yep! This was quite awhile ago, but it's been a good learning experience. I know how my body reacts to different foods and exercise a bit better now. If I get a ton of exercise, I might fluctuate a pound or two for a day. If I eat a lot of sodium, might be all over the place for a few days. If I have a ginormous…

Change is hard. Now the trend seems to be to rather than change and put in the hard work to be healthy, to deny being fat is even a problem in the first place. The "fat acceptance" movement is in full force and gaining traction and if people don't speak up, the obesity epidemic is only going to get worse. Me personally…

I feel naked without my apple watch. The fact that it syncs perfectly with fitness pal is a huge motivator

I'm sorry but how do people logically think that they way more because they didn't eat anything? Wtf? You didn't eat anything. If you ate more, you're putting more into your body and--never mind. It just makes my head hurt

Spices and some sauces like sriracha or pace

It's true. I only ate 800 calories yesterday and gained 10 lbs. Good thing i don't do that everyday
-
...I know math adds up and the weight is coming off, i was just asking a couple things about the effects on the body of water retention. You know. For science reasons
-
Well it does in a way, but i don't change my behavior based around what it says anymore. It annoys me when it doesn't reflect the work i put in, but i just put the scale away and weigh again a couple days later. No biggie. It's always just a waiting game anyway. I'll see a number that makes no sense and then wait a couple…

I was in the same place as you recently. I discovered fitness pal back in 2013 and thought "hey. This is awesome. This makes weight loss so freaking easy i should be skinny in no time!" then i would do it for a bit...then revert back to comfort eating. It went against logic alot of times...like why the hell would i…

So what's the difference between neat and tdee? Same thing right?

That there are "good" and "bad" foods and that if you eat the bad, you instantly plump up and gain 20 lbs after eating that 1 cookie! It's funny now that I look back on it, while right now I eat whatever I want and lose it

I have the apple watch and love it for its fitness aspects, but I understand it might be out of some peoples price range. Especially if all they want is a fitness band first and foremost. I've had a couple fitbits and just loved them. They were hugely motivational and the new ones are even better with heart rate sensors…

The responses on this thread remind me why I love you guys so much.

I find that quite often people come here for validation of their own choices, not actual advice. "Tell me I'm right!" "NO" "You're bullying me"
-
I guess that's the best way to go about it. Maybe I'm just a little peeved because I remember having my own eating disorder and nobody corrected me. Nobody said anything. My own girlfriend let me put my health at risk and I wish SOMEONE would've said something to stop me from damaging my body so much. I just want to be of…

My entire post wasn't a call to arms of "let's mobilize and hit reddit hard! That'll show em" my post was simply asking whether it's acceptable when someone puts themselves out there, to comment on the low low calories they're eating. I see most people don't say much of anything and quite a few actually encourage them to…

I have before and gotten down voted to hell for it

As long as your pee is either lightly colored or clear, your good man. Don't worry so much about it. Just drink when you're thirsty!

I didn't get mine until day 5, so be prepared for the worst

I miss the old Fitbit app. Do you remember how awesome it was? It would show what you've burned vs your projected burn for the entire day. So if you say your projected burn go down, then you know "hey I need to get up and be active or else!" One of the cases where they changed it for the worse

Reading the link now. I put my activity level as sedentary and fitness pal gave me 1500 calories. I've talked to a lot of guys my height and weight that have lost weight and they almost all said their goal was 1500 also. Maybe it warped my perspective a bit being around people like that so much. How many do you think I…

I don't mind charging nightly. I never used to wear my watch to sleep anyway. So I just charge it right next to my iPhone. If that's a concern of yours, a Fitbit would be better. Ending my 12 hour shift today with 63% didn't feel too bad

I think the Microsoft band deserves more credit than people give it. It looks every bit as solid as a Fitbit but with even better smart watch like features. Only deal breaker for me would be size and comfort. It looks like it wouldn't be comfortable to wear in day to day life. It's big and the shape isn't very forgiving.…

Glad you like it. I didn't get it because I thought it was pretty ugly and if I'm wearing a fitness tracker every single day (not just when tracking runs and stuff) I want something that looks good. And for just $100 more, I got something that has great battery life, looks damn good, has interchangeable bands that are dead…

I just think all this is really interesting from a science perspective. We are in a new age of fitness tracking and this is an exciting time to be alive! I've loved my fitbits for the past couple years and when apple enters new markets, it tends to be disruptive for the better. The amount of thought apple puts into their…

Nice! Why do runs double that? Is it heart rate?

Lol maybe I should just carry an ekg with me on my walks and compare! The only reason that article was even in my mind was because a doctor friend (medical doctor) told me about it and said he was playing with his in his office and comparing with an actual ekg and said they were pretty damn close. Said nothing definitive,…

I've thought to suggest this for awhile and you're the only one I've ever seen actually put it out there. If you're a crappy calorie counter, try pre packages meals for awhile. At the very least it'll help you gauge what a good calorie budget for yourself is
