  • ignore this completely!!!! There most certainly are good cals and bad cals. A banana will give you 100 cals as will a small bag of potatoe chips. One is not equal to he other when it comes to there benefits, ie; staying full longer, macronutrients... If you are working out add a 1/2-1 scoop of protein powder shortly…
  • Im glad you feel better Lol......I am with on the burpees ~ Planks and side planks I like though....but only for short periods at a time :)
  • started reading the book last night...after an hour I'm hooked...its a great read. Can't wait to start. I am lucky I have a very complete home gym (squat rack, leg press, benches, bars and free weights galore). I did have agym membership once upon a time. I agree: be brave and do your thing. Own it, no one cares....if they…
  • thanks all....eating more it is. Will lift heavier after I finish using les mills pump as a warm up program
  • No one exercises for fun. Its work. Until you find what motivates YOU it will be tough to stick with it. c25k is a wonderful place to start. Access to a gym is a bonus. Someone suggested finding out when it is least occupied by men who are serious about why they are there. Do what you can outdoors, walk ,run, cycle, and trx…
  • a little farming community east of London.....dont get to the big city much these days lol....add me if you want Canadian content
  • Me too! There are so many videos and routines available that make it easy (currently doing Les mills pump~and loving it). My husband is into heavy lifting so I am lucky enough to have access to a leg press, squat rack and sevral bars and benches not to mention the starter piece york 2001 lol. I have been able to amass a…
  • could have written this myself today. 1200 is easy to manage (lots of exercise for me)but its not leading to results. Hope to learn from your post
  • guilty....I am enjoying all the support and learning from the trials of others who are so generous with their knowledge
  • This may not be enough calories for you. Try upping it a little bit and eating less at a time but more often. 6 smaller meals every 2-3 hours. Or just eat a little less at breakfast with a small protein shake(half scoop) in between meals (same concept easier to do). Hope you find a compromise and don't choose to give…
  • sure..but not by eating the patties ~favorite or not, or by eating the ribs beacause your dad said you can or by doing no exercise. If you manage your calories and do some dedicated exercise you have a real shot. A 20 min jog is a start ~but try a 30 minute interval run if your using a treadmill. it will do more for you…
  • a must save list...thanks
  • thank you gentlemen....I will check it out
  • humor me please...what is nrol4w- We have a squat rack that scares me, and a leg press I avoid and free weights I trip over...lol ...going to keep an eye on the advice you receive
  • My husband could have written the last response...he is a big fan of scooby's lol and agrees the mfp suggests far to few calories a day (1200 for me, = wait loss )....so I can relate with your concerns
  • I have no real clue, but am interested i nthe responses you may get. Having said that the doctors scale and your usual scale may just be out of whack with each other. What did your usual scale say?
  • give your self a break. Adding guilt to a stressfull week wont change a thing. so smile~its Friday!!!!!!. .I had another loooong week too . I did managed to eat right but no workouts. Just couldn't hit the treadmill at midnight again this week so i chose sleep. The scale will be there next week...we will meet up then. I…
  • while the explanation is great...I'm still confused lol~ my husband insists 1200 cal is too low.(his prefered sight for calculations suggests I need 1577) I eat with the 1200cal as my goal and eat some of the earned cals back.(?)...lifestyle is set at moderately active (changed from lightly~cal goal did not change) Going…
  • You are going to love mfp. Everything you need to achieve your goals is laid out for you and is so user friendly. It takes courage to open yourself up to strangers. After three weeks I have found the motivation and friendly support I needed to stay dedicated to fitness. Putting it out there for others to see is a real eye…
  • friend request sent...am also 50 and looking to get fit. Not alot of weight to loose but some eating habits to correct and am in much need of accountability with an exercise(I prefer the term fitness) regime .....here to support anyone who needs a kind word and a touch of tough love when needed
  • black skinny jeans size 6...can now get them on and do them up....working towards being able to breath at the same time :)
  • Mine is always high too. I cut out most processed foods and I add salt to virtually nothing. But there it is~ hidden everywhere. I do drink enough water so i am not terribly worried, but am equally curious as to finding a resolution to this problem. No need to go looking for potential health issues.
  • I get your frustrartion and I sympathize. I felt the same way about calorie counting and eating enough ( I was in starvation mode apperently). MY husband baggered me for months to keep track. (You too may in fact may not be eating enough as opposed to too much. Healthy is great but it has to be the right amount for YOU.)…
  • so glad to have found this thread. Been making changes for 3 weeks now and have lost 4.5 lbs and a couple of inches already. Look forward to sharing within my age group. (new to that too lol)
  • Most chinese food places will prepare all the veggie dishes without the msg if you request it. Stick to the choices that arent battered. Have a lovely family night!!
  • thank you....I think i am under eating at 1200....ironically i have to work hard to get to those. Time to figure this out
  • what a great journey!! congratulations.....
  • Do you 'fancy' you? Thats all that matters. If this man loves you weight is no issue. Recently all my hair fell out, balder than an old man, and my husband proudly held my hand and said I was beautiful. My husband is 40 lbs over weight..is it fanciful..nope...but I proudly hold his hand and tell him how loved he is. Thats…
