  • Ya, that sounds good. I log all of my food and activity but my exercise is severely lacking.
  • I know that this is not anything new to most readers but, may I suggest a distinction between starches and low carb? (This is just my opinion. I'm not a dietician or any sort of medical professional.) Starches include rice, pasta, corn, peas, bread, anything made of wheat or grain. Carbohydrates come from starches and also…

  • I do hope that Atkins works for you because I know that it has worked for some people. I tend toward eating low carb asa rule but, not strictly Atkins. It's not sustainable for me because I know I will want some starches and sugars in my diet and with Atkins... I tried it with some success but, after month 2, I was done.…
  • Bacon! Bratwurst or Italian sausage Smoked sausage You see the pattern here?
  • Panic? Panic the useless emotion. Don't. Ever. Panic. I suggest you enjoy the sense of achievement. We'll done.
  • The functional phrase in the OP is, "...at the gym." Whether you are the fattest or skinniest, male or female is made irrelevant by the fact that you are at the gym. If any sweaty individual were to criticize you, refer them to the nearest library, assuming the sweaty one can read, to learn why one goes to the gym in the…
  • So, do you carb much? Starchy food is the foundation of your diet. Cut back on the starches, add in some vegetables and you'll see improvement. My body seems to respond better to less starch, this is only my experience. A little starch is cool but, I know that I could never lose weight eating that much starch.
  • I didn't lose a single pound in April. The numbers all worked but the scale didn't care. Then, first weigh in of May, I dropped 4lbs. Just be persistent. Besides, a scale is machine that lays on the floor and waits to be stepped on. Would that piss you off? It would irritate the fire out of me and I would tell people they…
  • OK, party. I've been getting down since March and rocking steady. I'm down 25lb so far, 90 to go. I had a nice little NSV this morning, I wore size 44 jeans to work. The cool part is that they were buried in a drawer 4 years ago, just waiting for today. Well, today is the day! I wrote size 44 jeans! CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? I…
  • New suits. Do I dare dream of size 38 trousers? Would I, could I wear an XL shirt? I remember, long ago, wearing 17and 1/2 x 36 shirts. My chest was bigger than my waist then. The really odd thing is that I'm talking about things in the realm of probability, not fantasy! I'm moving from impossible dream to achievable goal.
  • Well done!
  • I wore a size 2X shirt to church yesterday. I haven't worn a 2X in 4 years.
  • I would make then smaller and use sugar-free syrup. But those options don't appeal to me. If I wanted sweet for breakfast, I would choose a protein bar. or a parfait: 1/2 cup Greek yogurt - 80 cals 1 cup wheat flake cereal - 120 cals 1/2 cup Lite canned peaches - 50 cals I also like this for an evening snack.

  • Love them. But, you know what they say about too much of a good thing!
  • Nonfat, plain yogurt, greek or "Stonyfield" brand regular; canned sliced peaches in lite syrup or no sugar added, organic harvest grain cereal. I make a parfait out of this almost every night. Believe it or not, I don't feel good if I miss my yogurt for a day.
  • Bacon judging contest: Top quality offering from the USA, England and Denmark. How would a judge decide the winner?
  • Normal breakfast is egg beaters and something else. I throw in mixed vegetables, bacon, leftovers, whatever. Its normally 200 to 300 calories. I'v noticed that I have a better day if I get about 300 calories at breakfast.
  • Hello OP, I don't normally comment on this type of post but, I would like to proffer my opinion here, for whatever it's worth. I think that the woman I saw in your photos is beautiful. Yes, you are beautiful. I think that any weight that you lose will be nice because it will make you more healthy, not because it will make…
  • Good stuff! Welcome, Jen!
  • I like yogurt, cheese and meat.
  • I'm very fond of quinoa. I buy it at Costco, large bag.

  • We're business casual. However, being a middle aged white man, I get points for being covered.
  • Most anything from the coffee shop (you know which one) pastry case. Bush's Pit BBQ Beans. We had some of these over the weekend. Since there were some left over, I packed up a 1/2 cup container for a work meal. Had it for breakfast on Monday morning a week ago and got furious when I realized that I had eaten 170 calories…
  • OK, I'm in. I failed miserably in April, didn't lose a thing. Perhaps May will go better. 335 SW: (Starting weight) 314 CW: (Current weight) 309 GW: (Goal weight for the month)
  • OP makes a good point. Since they're all plants and they're all more calorie dense than leafy greens what exactly are they? I eat them all and log them all. If your going to eat a half cup of peas your going to get more calories than if you eat a half cup of spinach.
  • ^^^THIS! Dont mean to be posting hog but...
  • Coffee is a yes, a big YES! But there are rules: 1. No weak coffee! 2. Don't make it too strong. (It's not too strong unless you can float a horse shoe on it. 3. It should be good and hot or, iced. Nothing in the middle will work. 4. Don't buy cheap coffee, it is so acidic that it will upset your stomach.
  • This has worked for me so far.
