Thanks for the link.

It's sad that so many people repeat that myth just based on what they've read in MFP threads. Believing in "starvation mode" just slows down your progress. Thanks for the link.

Lots of great information in your posts, CristinaL1983. Thank you!

Here's an interesting read on "starvation mode". http://fattyfightsback.blogspot.com/2009/03/mtyhbusters-starvation-mode.html

"Don't believe in myths, no matter how often they're repeated."
-
Definitely this!

When I plateau, I cut my calories by 10 percent and add a few more minutes of cardio on my cardio only days at the gym. It works for me. On a side note - not a vegetable fan, are you? Lol

Try Jacob's Ladder. It kicks butt! http://jacobsladderexercise.com/

This is a really informative post about essential fatty acids. http://www.benbest.com/health/essfat.html

I was thinking this, too.

My favorite is to sauté fresh tomatoes in a little olive oil, with garlic, crushed red chili pepper and fresh basil.
-
So far, yes, but I've only been on this site a few weeks.
-
I usually have 4 extra pounds sometime during the week prior to my period.
-
I'd say you're making the wrong kind of shakes, then. For me, they're a quick, easy, tasty and filling way to meet my nutritional needs for the day.
-
That shake sounds delicious! I'm going to try it with the cinnamon graham cracker protein powder I just bought.
-
I use my protein shakes to fill in the nutritional gaps in the day. If I haven't had much in the way of leafy greens, then I'll add kale, if I haven't had much fruit, I'll add blueberries, etc. I usually make them with a plant milk; coconut, soy or almond. I've never tried using 2 scoops, but I think I'll start doing that…

Perfectly relaxed and not judging. To each his own. Hopefully people will research what's best for them and not blindly follow the "starvation" myth people.

My doctor gave me that advice based on what * i * want to lose. I want to lose the weight as quickly as I safely can. I don't want to be like some of these people on MFP who STILL have 60 pounds to lose after being on here for 3 whole years. I'm in good overall health, and I'm serious about making my goal. I just don't…

Never more than an hour. Usually 30 minutes of strength training with my trainer and 20 minutes of cardio.
-
5-6 times a day and about 150 to 300 calories each.
-
" (been battling some kind of stomach bug for a couple of months now)." No "stomach bug" should last a couple of months. Please see a doctor.
-
I'm on 1200 calories a day on advice from my doctor. Why do you think this is "dangerous"?. I'm losing , on average, 2.8 pounds a week - I feel great, my strength and stamina in my weight lifting sessions has increased, and my health is just fine - AND I'm not "starving." So why do you think this is "reckless" advice? What…

"The starvation myth is just that, a myth" Exactly! And believing that myth can sure slow down your weight loss progress. It's sad that so many people believe it and repeat it. Thanks for a great post, CristinaL1983!

Yes - a new wardrobe!

This. I get in there and get my shopping done as quickly as I can because I have stuff to do! I'm really surprised that so many people spend time in their day thinking about people that they don't even know. That's funny.

I mix and match all sorts of yummy protein shake creations from keeping these things on hand: Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, and cinnamon graham cracker protein powders Butterscotch and Cheesecake flavored sugar free, fat free, instant jello cocoa powder PB 2 frozen bananas and assorted frozen berries.
-
What kind are you drinking? I googled "protein shake recipes" and got some great ideas from that. Maybe you could do the same.
-
I fill in my breakfast, lunch and snacks for the next day before I go to bed. It really helps me stay within my macros.
-
Are you able to join a gym? Jacob's Ladder is an awesome low impact workout and it won't hurt your knees or back. You'd have to start slowly, though. One minute on, then one minute rest, or something of the like.

I just started but I'm thrilled with my progress so far. I've lost 28 pounds since Feb 7th by doing things all wrong, according to most people on MFP. I strength train with a trainer for 30 minutes, 3 days a week, 20 minutes cardio 2 times a week, weigh everything I eat on a food scale, eat only 1200 calories a day, and…
