  • You can also get a 0% fat version of the Fage Total Greek yoghurt which you can add a tsp of honey or whatever to. It has no sugar added and surprisingly has more protein yet still less calories than the full fat version!
  • Yeah celery/carrott sticks and houmous are nice :) you can get reduced fat and calorie houmous to keep cals in check. Also they are quite expensive but Nakd bars don't have any artifical ingredients at all and you can get some really nice flavours :)
  • This is the best thing I have seen all week! Thanks for making me smile!
  • Lol this reminds me of the "diet" versions of cup'a'soup called slim'a'soup. On the packet it says something like "only 30 calories, making you feel better about that cake you ate earlier". Why? You're just eating 30 more calories on top of the cake you ate earlier. You still ate the cake earlier.
  • I got told I would gain weight from eating a handful of steamed carrots with my chicken at dinner, because the carrots are too starchy a carb for my body to digest after 6pm. So I had chicken and a doughnut instead.
  • Like everyone else said, dark chocolate is much much better for you and you can't eat as much of it! Otherwise I agree that a choc flavoured diet whey protein shake hits the spot :) Other people I know have also recommended a cup of low cal hot choc :)
  • No - never beat yourself up! Relax! If you feel like you overate just do some extra exercise to balance it out and forget it. Everyone is entitled to a treat, don't worry about it.
  • Hi! If you don't find green tea too disgusting that is a good thing to add in. I'm not sure exactly what "clean" eating IS, but I think trying to stick to unprocessed foods as much as possible is helpful. Lean meats and fish, plenty of vegetables, a variety of different fruits, nuts and seeds, greek yogurt, olive oil and…
  • I totally relate to this OP, you can't get a straight answer can you? The thing that personally has worked for me is TO snack in between meals, ensuring the snacks contain an element of protein. The eating every 3 -4 hours seems to really work. Things like celery and houmous or a small amount of nuts with some berries…
  • I personally think having a "cheat" meal is good for the motivation and for the soul. Obviously healthy eating makes you feel great but life is too short for food to become a chore and I think once a week if you feel like having something a bit naughty then why not! the only thing I've fallen into the trap of is allowing…
  • You are most likely gaining lean muscle and losing fat. Great result IMO :) Take your physical measurements and if you know of anywhere you can ask a trainer to do a body fat tes for you, I would recommend that too. I say this because my weight in the past few months has stayed at the same give or take 1 or 2 lbs, my body…
  • I'm with you OP - I love my breakfast! Can't start my day without it! Oats/porridge/no added sugar wholegrain cereal with semi skimmed milk and berries or eggs and bacon/eggs and a piece of toast for me! And a green tea
  • Hi Carol. Congrats on making so many positive changes! Always great to chat to other people and to motivate each other! Best of luck on your health journey sounds like you've done impressively already :) Alice
  • Thanks all, yeah it was because I saw the sugar and GI were low that I considered it. I only have 1 tsp of honey a day so after receving everyone's helpful responses I think I might stick with it. I try not to ingest too much sugar generally particularly refined/artificial ones so I think the honey will be ok Thank you for…
  • thank you all, sensible suggestions! I will see hwo the 4 weeks go - towards the end of the last week I will start thinking about where to go from there :) really appreciate everyone's help though, great to know I am not alone in this
  • Absolutely. Most days it isn't a problem because I work out every day except Sunday, and the only time I normally drink is Saturday night,. But on some weeks that Saturday night can have the ability to wipe out days of hard work due to the amount I drnk and subsequently eat. Basically, I just need to control myself, and I…
  • I see your point completely, but as I've been asked by somebody I am paying to do this I feel I should obey. My worry really is going overboard the minute I get my hands on any when the 4 weeks are over. I suppose the main thing I am learning here is (as obvious as it probably seems to you all) - on days I am drinking (aka…
  • great advice thanks! I'm going to a social gathering next week at my friend's house so I will have a look for something non fattening to take :)
  • Hi, thanks! I agree it will certainly be a learning experience and very challenging but really am determined to see it through!
  • Haha, thanks everyone. I agree, it definitely is a HABIT. it is just the "done thing" everywhere that I go and I enjoy being a part of that, apart from now I realise how much it affects my waistline. I'm determined to stick to this not as a fad diet but more of an experiment to see what happens. It is always the weekends…
  • Yeah all Jillian Michaels ones I find really good. Also Jennifer Ellison's bootcamp one I found pretty tough (in a good way obviously). There is also the Insanity DVD which you may have heard of, it's a programme which I think lasts 60 days which I have personally never done but I know many people that have and whilst…
  • Personally I find carbs are best before a workout and at breakfast as they are an excellent source of energy. If I am not doing much and am just a bit hungry I would tend to go for protein instead as it keeps you feeling full and satisfied. I was also told that your body doesn't store protein as fat even in excess though…
