Cheat days have wrecked my progress (even though they were recommended to me by a personal trainer). I'm attempting to just fit in controlled treats in my daily calories as and when I feel the need for them instead of going all out at the weekends and cancelling out any calorie deficit I've achieved during the week. It's…

Maybe a protein shake or a protein bar (obviously check the ingredients as some are very sugary, quest bars are good). Beef jerky, tinned fish (though this can be smelly!), low fat hard cheese, hard boiled eggs

Oh god I wish that were true! If it were I would be thin! Basically, whatever your maintenance calorie level is, if you go over this then unfortunately you will put on weight. If you stay level at the amount of calories you consume as to what you are burning, you'll maintain your weight and if you eat less than what you…

There's a new bread out in the UK called "hilo" - 8g of protein per slice and 5g of carbs about 82 cals per slice I think - just tastes like normal bread so is quite good if you are trying to go low carb :)

Me. I was a fat pig and only I shovelled all that food in my gob

Half a "sharer platter" at a pub (mini sausages, cheese croquettes, potato slices, chicken wings with salsa and cream dips) Full roast chicken dinner (half a chicken, gravy, 4 potatoes, yorkshire pudding, vegetables) 2 9 bars (270ish calories a pop - seed/nut bars 1 is fine on its own but 2 in the midst of all this...…

I generally don't log my exercise on here as MFP/cardio machines seem to way overestimate my expenditure. Instead, I just try to stick to the calories I've set regardless of the type/duration of exercise I've done that day

Quite simply, when people ask your weight/dress size or make uninvited guesses at it. Why on earth is it anybody's business but mine?? If I bring up the subject then fair enough but otherwise... just why!

Mine was a roast dinner, so I had one yesterday :)

I got fat because my stomach is a seemingly bottomless pit. However I don't strictly "eat clean" now and sticking to my macros is NOT easy! I just realise that I can't get away with cramming my face all day every day.

Thanks everyone! Great suggestions. Can't wait for my curry :)

Quest definitely - I agree that the Atkins ones taste awesome but they are sweetened with maltitol which wreaks havoc in my gut!!

It's so galling when you order a salad due to no nutritional info, only to be informed later that it was more calorific than the burger :(

Yeah I find practicing longer steady paced running but also sprints/hill sprints are good for them (I love these by the way!). Also for the obstacles circuit training is pretty effective, if you have access to a gym then TRX and kettlebells/VIPR can provide some great exercises otherwise bodyweight exercises are fine as…

High protein foods normally work for me at any time of the month including the dreaded time :)

I agree with the "listen to you body" idea. If you have loads of energy and feel that you want to work out even if you have done so for several days previously then I don't say why not. I really think your body will tell you if you need to take a day off and if so that's absolutely fine too.

I'm so glad I'm not alone in hating kale. It is vile, awful, disgusting... Ugh. And EVERY person tells me to include it in my diet. I CAN'T. People have started making kale crisps/chips so I could try this, but I'd have to find a recipe where it's not smothered in crap...

There will be at least one person who demonises every single food - nothing wrong with a banana fgs

OMG I HAVE THIS AS WELL!!!1111 Oxygen mask?

I eat breakfast because I love it and am normally hungry in the morning - but if you're not and you feel better having bigger meals later in the day it doesn't matter as long as you are staying within your calories - whatever works for you :)
-
Yeah just listen to your body, it will tell you if it is really too tired to exercise one day. I'd be wary about overdoing it on your 500 calorie days though - I can't imagine being able to get through any strenuous exercise without collapsing with so little fuel, but that's just me!
-
Don't avoid anything though typically I don't tend to eat big doughnuts or muffins that have like 500 calories because I just don't think it's worth it considering the amount of other food I could get for the same calories.

Personally, low carb dieting for me is hideous. Same with high carb too. A sensible and balanced amount of carbs works well for me, they particularly help in the mornings and around workouts. Go overboard, however, and I feel sluggish. each to their own!

Yeah I'm trying to break this cycle too. Think it's better to have smaller treats throughout the week than a binge on the weekend
-
Protein keeps you full - maybe try eating protein rich foods.
-
I wouldn't do any of the faddy diets and certainly wouldn't cut out fruit is you like it. Basically if you are in a calorie deficit you will lose fat - I wouldn't personally cut calories too drastically as it's not sustainable and may end up with rapid weight loss followed by gaining it all back when you can't stick to the…

Some types of plain yogurt (greek yogurt, fromage frais) are high in protein and taste great with a tsp of honey! Same goes for "quark" fat free soft cheese - use it as a yogurt substitute all the time. Beef jerky or ready made chicken strips are a good on the go snack but are not "clean" as they have been processed to…

Ciabatta! Or a nice cheesy roll from the bakery.

I don't just drink diet drinks on their own normally, because I'm not really fussed about fizzy drinks at all so it seems pointless to drink them when I can just have water. However, when choosing alcohol mixers I always go for diet just because it saves calories. It's not like a drink on a daily basis anyway so I don't…
