totally old 1993 Subaru legacy, runs like a champ though 220,000 miles later! It is actually in really great condition and AWD gets me through the snow drifts better than most suv's 2X its size.

Do you have a rice cooker? I made spanish style rice in it with brown rice, just by adding tomatoes, tomato paste, broth, and diced onions. Would be delicious in a burrito.

I love the series surrounding Ramona Quimby by Beverly Cleary. I especially like the older versions with the stick thin knobby kneed drawings! When I was a kid, I watched the series on PBS with Sarah Polley and was obsessed....

I am currently a pescatarian, but eat mostly vegetarian meals with plenty of them being vegan. I make curries of all kinds. I love thai curry peanut soup semi inspired by Tom Kha Gai. The Asian market is your friend! I make tomato tofu quite often which is a blend of sour, tangy and spicy. Quite often we try new things,…

I will post it up in the morning. I need to type everything up, when I am done I will message you with it.

I made a really great batch of creamy tomato soup with a grilled crimini, carmelized onion and swiss sandwich on sour dough. The whole thing came to 457 calories, but I still have a lot left over. I am not much of a snacker anymore unless kettle chips are near me, then I go bananas!

i love jasmine, hibiscus, mint, thin mint green, good earth's sweet and spicy.

Well, if you start off lacto-ovo vegetarian, your protein can come from yogurt! Even if you are vegan, protein is sooo easy to get. I am a pescetarian, but I don't eat that much seafood and manage to always fulfill my requirements. Tofu is so good for you and packed with protein. I make a really delicious vietnamese dish…

when we go on road trips, i make sure to make veggie light cream cheese. i worked in a bagel shop for years, and know how to make it. super easy. light cream cheese, beaten with your mixer, with a splash of soda water (to make it incredibly spreadable), a sprinkling of soda water and whatever finely chopped veggies you…

Try Gardein tenders, your kids probably won't even notice the difference! They are 100 calories a serving too. There are vegan soy yogurts, some of the cheeses are better than others. Daiya melts really well and is the "holy grail" when it comes to vegan cheeses. I have been recommended the uncheese cookbook, it uses a lot…

It seems that when you only have a little bit to lose, that its far harder than those with a lot to lose. I count my calories, eat a pretty balanced diet, and work out almost daily. Slowly but surely I am losing, but it seems that those with maybe 100lbs to lose, with major changes to their lifestyle, the fat melts away.…

Not all vegans are necessarily concerned about animal cruelty, there are many reasons people choose to be veg. Most recognize that their diet is cruelty-free, but it might not be a top priority in their decision. Some other reasons include minimizing their environmental impact, health. For some, they might have allergies,…

I emphatically agree with getting a rice cooking. Mine is a super cheapo no-name one but works like a dream. It really has no extra-settings, but you really don't need them. When making brown rice, I will add in vegetable broth for part of the water, and garlic, a dash of olive oil. Sometimes I add walnuts, diced onions,…

I think since you currently eat poultry and presumably seafood, you might want to try nixing those first. Gelatin is generally not consumed by most vegetarians anyway, so that would be another to watch out for. I would recommend checking out various fake chicken products since those ease the transition, especially while…

woops, i didn't see that you didn't like fish! i am sorry for talking up tuna melts so much!

Do you put yogurt in your oats? Have you tried overnight oats? http://katheats.com is a great resource for overnight oats, so simple and delicious. they really keep me sustained.

Hummus is always a crowd pleaser and can be adapted to suit different tastes! Guacamole is another. Mini-quiches made with liquid egg whites. I brought this easy "pate" to a cocktail party, and it was a huge hit! Walnut Mushroom Pate 3 tbsp olive oil 1 cup onion, diced 3 cloves garlic 1 tsp dried thyme 1 tsp dried tarragon…

I recently made delicious curried lentils that came in pretty close to 300 with brown rice. Even with a dollop of low-fat yogurt, it's not calorie busting! I used vegetable broth, but you could use chicken. Added in some tinned tomatoes, diced onions, sweet potatoes, curry powder, cumin, tumeric, sriracha, and a little bit…

I love left-overs for lunch, because I really enjoy the food my boyfriend and I prepare. I love divided containers for taking lunches, because I can assemble a salad or sandwich in partitions, so that the wetter ingredients don't make the others soggy before I eat them. I am a pescatarian, so I only eat fish. Lately, I…
