  • I've done both 30ds and RI30 and have just started this http://www.blackandi.com/2010/03/another-jillian-rotation-slim-downsome-more/ rotation. I am on the fifth day and will be doing BFBM later today.
  • I recognize that a bachelor's in no way qualifies me as an expert, but I conducted a year long project examining this. I looked at college-aged individuals and their diets. This is very much what I found as well, these long held traditions are not being passed down, and many young adults simply have no skills in the…
  • 1. Do you have any, and if so, HOW many? 2 2. When did you get it/them? September 2009, July 2011 3. What did you get? The first one is the Little Prince and the second is a vintage style postcard of where I grew up. 4. Any regrets? No
  • I suggest lentils, wheat berries, tempeh, an apple with a tablespoon of almond butter, chickpeas (roasted, curried, mashed, etc), stove-top roasted brussel sprouts, and low fat cottage cheese with a scrambled egg and egg whites.
  • Minnesota Wild Rice Soup. Enchiladas. Curries. Tempeh Wings. Quinoa stuffed peppers, stuffed cabbage. I have found ways of creating just about any meal I want without meat, and without having to use crazy processed ingredients. You just need to think about what flavors work together, vegetarian cooking does not have to be…
  • I used to hate cottage cheese too! Now, I love it! I often put a bit in my scrambled eggs, dip veggies in it, eat plain, top salads as a sort of "dressing", and use it in casseroles and other baked dishes. I've used it as a thickener in stroganoff type dishes too, it really is so versatile!
  • The problem with rice cakes is usually the sodium and some have too much added sugar or hfcs. I did an unprocessed challenge for the month of October and succeeded, but we were allowed things that were minimally processed. Like whole wheat pasta, in which it contains two or three ingredients. If the ingredient list is long…
  • look up Bryant Terry, he is a vegan soul food chef and food activist. I have read really great reviews for his collard green recipe. Also, check out the ppk.com, they might have some more savory style greens.
  • I like the morningstar farms stuff, but I am not sure that I would eat it stand alone. In sandwiches it works really well. I've also made fake bacon using tempeh, and that works really well! Tempeh is often "offensive" to the newly vegetarian. However, it is a great healthy ingredient that is incredibly versatile. I use it…
  • Thanks, guys! We will see how it works this week after substituting.
  • Begin to very familiar with the bulk section of your grocery store. You can purchase several rice, pasta, legume, and bean varieties for much cheaper than the packaged brands. Also, if you have plans for a meal, but aren't sure what to do with the rest, you can purchase just enough for the meal at hand. If you have an Aldi…
  • I really don't care for canned soups, as I am, as they say, a soup nazi. So, I make my own. I could really eat soup every day and still love it. I have tried the Pacific brand of soups and like some of them. However, I feel that making your own is the best. Plus, soup is probably one of the easiest "hands off" meals you…
  • My butt still hurts from it! We just started p90x this week and are on day 4 tonight is yoga. It really helps if you have someone working out with you, to motivate you, and to laugh through the pain.
  • i have a tattoo on my inner right bicep. It's a scene from the Little Prince. I have said since I got it, that I want to get ripped so that the birds fly!
  • Modcloth has a lot of great clothes for all kinds of body types. Read the reviews on the dresses though, because quality can either be really great or shoddy.
  • I would suggest wrap-dresses to de-emphasize your chest. Adding wide belts around natural waist to create division would also help a lot. Jackets/blazers can also help. Maybe, wide-leg trousers that are semi-high waisted to help balance out top from bottom. Hope that helps.
  • I have noticed the opposite. I sweat during my workouts, and then don't sweat as much throughout the day. It's some serious motivation for me, because I hate being a sweaty betty in public.
  • Between 30 and 40 days, you can really see a difference in your shoulders! I know that is a weird thing to notice, but I tend to notice people's shoulders and posture a lot. You look great, congratulations on all your hardwork.
  • i like to call this the silver fox: 1 1/2 ounce bourbon ice lime wedge 2 ounces diet ginger ale splash of diet tonic.. so yummy! whiskey soda with a lime.
  • I had thought about doing that, but I also might be on a higher level in a hotel room and could get loud with all the jumping.
  • whole wheat spaghetti saute a whole mess of minced garlic in olive oil. add a springling of crushed red pepper. in another pan, sautee diced baby bella mushrooms and broccoli (set aside) add a splash (1 TB) of half and half, and squeeze half of a lemon to the garlic, pepper, and olive oil mixture. add salmon and some fresh…
  • I am starting mine tomorrow am excited about seeing results. This summer I have some pretty awesome backpacking plans and I want to be able to keep up with the guys, because I am usually the only female in the group.
  • i made a smoky split pea soup last night, that i will have as a left over. It's low-fat, low-calories, but packed with protein. I will also have a sandwich or maybe a curry on the side.
  • Oh, and here is one of my absolute favorite. it's not quick, but doesn't require a lot of attention. tomato tofu • 4-5 large tomatoes, not too ripe, sliced very thin. • 2 lbs tofu • 2 small yellow onion sliced very thin • 1 Tbs minced garlic (dehydrated garlic minced garlic) • 2 tsp salt • 1 tsp sugar • 1/4 cup rice…
  • I press my tofu with a plate and something heavy to get all the moisture out. Firm to Extra-firm works best. Heat your oven to about 425. On a baking sheet, spread tofu cut about 1/4"-1/2" thick strips, toss in a little bit of oil. Bake for about 10 minutes, flip over, and bake another 10 minutes.
  • I have a bachelor's in anthropology, and for the longest time thought I wanted my master's with an emphasis in anthro of food and nutrition. Now, however, I have decided to work towards another degree in dietetics. While, i still love anthropology and want to use my B.S., I think becoming an R.D, will open up career fields…
  • This is slightly more, but is a great recipe. If you bake the tofu, tossed in a little bit of olive oil it has the same effect as frying it. So, tasty. It is tangy and spicy, and one of my favorite vietnamese dishes. tomato tofu • 4-5 large tomatoes, not too ripe. • 2 lbs tofu • 2 small yellow onion • 1 Tbs minced garlic…
  • nut fats are good fats.
  • i could eat a poached egg everyday--they were the only way i would eat eggs growing up! brussel sprouts (must be fresh) toasted on the stove with a splash of lemon juice. kale chips. sweet potatoes. split pea soup (vegetarian). tofu scrambles.
  • i made a lightened buffalo (fake)chicken dip for the super bowl today, using low-fat cream cheese and omitting the ranch. it turned out really delicious. nobody even noticed that i lightened it. you could use real chicken breast, but i don't eat it, so i used Gardein's product. You could bring an enchilasagne with brown…
