You can throw the flag wherever you want. Using the "Regiment" word neither impresses nor intimidates as if formation runs are the only runs anyone does. It's called leading by example which I'm sure even in the "Regiment" they can understand. If you're looking for a resume, I have over a dozen marathons, probably double…

There's a reason they call it pounding a treadmill. There isn't a lot of give, about like pounding concrete. Though it sounds opposite, increase the grade/angle of the treadmill. This will lessen the pound a a little bit. I also concur with those that said take a day of rest between sessions. I'd also suggest cutting down…

Not sure about your motivation for joining but regardless, thank you! I retired from the Army four years ago and I know about struggling with weight. One thing you need to understand going in is that the weight standard at enlistment is quite different than the standard for staying in. You will lose weight in Basic…

Agree with all that said that a bad workout is better than none. You got something out of it even though you may not appreciate/realize it. Compared to sitting on the couch though? you're a superhero.

I thought it was all about displaying your best assets? :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

It sounds like you have the physical part down but the mental is getting the best of you. Agree with all that this isn't so much a diet as it is a lifestyle choice. Noticed that you used the word sad in both scenarios. Suggestion would be to find what makes you happy. Don't know a lot about the "to be an artist I have to…

Think you look fantastic. If you're happy, that's what matters.

When did stride analysis become necessary to go from your couch to a 5K? I'm sorry to the O.P. I'm not trying to come across as an *kitten* and it's your money. There are pros of going to a store that will analyze your gait. Understanding whether or not you pronate or suppinate, heel striker or run on the balls of your…

Up at 4:40 each morning and working out by 5. I work out with my wife and we started working out in the mornings to free up time after work for additional time without skipping any workouts. Accountability is a great motivator.

Great progress!! Don't quit until YOU are happy.

^^^ The only way I'm buying shoes from a running store
-
Definitely. I'd be happy to pay a store that suggested I needed X type of running shoe $30 more for their shoes than I can find online. Unless there is a return policy, I'm sticking with buying online. Do you feel obligated when you go into a car dealership because the salesperson took the time to help you understand all…

Clothes that fit properly. Seriously. I've got shoes and the road is free, I can make them fit better.

If you don't maintain your water intake throughout the week, you aren't going to get in "enough" water to not get dehydrated. Once you've experienced a heat injury, you're more susceptible to it again (same thing with cold) or so I was taught in the Army.
-
I'm willing to give it a go. I'm 60 days from a beach vacation... I could use some extra motivation.
-
Get the reommendation from the store based on your fit. When they show you the $130 shoes tell them you want to think about it and then shop for the same shoe on Amazon.

Great job!! Keep going!

^^^^^ This. Cardio is fine but weights will get you copied, I mean toner, oh hell!

Too funny and so not true!

Is it that the compression shirts don't fit or you don't like the way you look in them? You aren't going to hide much in a compression shirt. I have found that the UA loose are very large compared to size on the tag.

Austin, San Antonio, San Marcos, Dallas (if you don't mind a commute), but yes, Texas is definitely worth exploring however, having lived in the San Antonio/San Marcos area, you may want to consider picking up some spanish along the way. Language skills break a lot of barriers.

I'm going to go way out on a limb here that if you're eating what your numbers say you're eating, then your workouts may not be sufficiently challenging for you. Lifting vs. lifting heavy are two different things. I'm not talking about heavy weight as much as a weight that challenges you. If you're able to get through a…

Agree that different shoes for different people! Ran two Army ten-milers in Nike Shox and a couple of half marathons in New Balance because as my body changed, so did my need for support. I concur with everyone that said you should go to a reputable store where they do more than "look" at your feet and gait to make a…

I will never drink three hand grenades in New Orleans, before lunch...

We've had success with cheat days. We use a single day each week and plan for it in advance and actually eat at deficit going towards the day. It's been working for a year.
