It's the same for me. I was losing weight fine for two weeks ... now the scales are stuck! But I am not letting it get me down. I am planning on keeping this deficit going for the next seven months, so I'm trying to see it as a long-term thing. I am eating significantly less and doing more exercise, so surely my weight HAS…

Why DOES swimming make you so hungry?

I worked out my BMR and set that as my calorie goal. I am not doing proper exercise at this point but I figure all the walking around, housework etc. I do every day is creating a deficit of some sort. Once I start exercising the deficit will be much more significant. So far I have lost 1kg which is quite decent but it's…

That stuff is not really better than over-processed junk food. Make some vegetable soup with chili. You can have decent quantities and it's much better for you. I had a slim fast shake once and it was not very nice and did not even keep me full. Eat some proper food. :)

Just act super smug around her to wind her up. And give her lots of food facts e.g. someone you know with diabetes because they ate too much sugar and got fat.

Don't diet during your pregnancy. Don't go overboard either, just eat at maintenance and enjoy a wide range of healthy food for your growing child. It's only nine months. Forget about weight loss for a while and focus on the baby :)

Sometimes I go for a long while without losing any weight, which is really annoying - but it does come off in the end. If you have just started this working out, your body will be going through a few adjustments so it might be a while before it shows on the scales. Keep going and be really honest with yourself about what…

How often do you eat out with friends? Restaurant food can contain a surprising amounts of calories! I have similar stats to yours. I eat back all the calories my fitbit tells me to and I am not losing as fast as I would like, but it's about 1 pound a week averaged out. I don't do much exercise at the moment but am…

Spinach and broccoli are low-calorie but provide a decent amount of protein. You could also add some protein powder to your smoothies. If they sell it where you live, Quorn is a great diet food. Not great for you, but an easy low-calorie food and high in protein. They have some vegan products nowadays.

OP you do seem a little vague about how much you are actually eating. You need a deficit every day for weeks on end to see some real changes on the scales. If you are not overweight, weight loss can be quite slow. But you will get there in the end as long as you are very careful that you are not eating more calories as you…

I plateaued for a couple of weeks and then lost 2 lbs ... so just hang on in there!

I foolishly had a WW ready meal today. It was like something they probably serve in retirement homes where the patients are too old to complain. Absolutely horrible. I do not understand how people can survive on that stuff. I will go back to my (weighed-out) homemade vegetable soup and lentils tomorrow. And MFP does work!…

I have no idea why it happens, but like many others I have lots a significant amount overnight after no change for weeks. I was stuck at a weight for TWO weeks. I was about to try and figure out what I was doing wrong. Then I went out for a treat meal - two days later I had lost 0.9 kg. No idea why this happens but the key…

I had a cheat day yesterday - we wanted to go to Five Guys (shocking calories!) and then I had two pieces of pizza for dinner. It was amazing! But I am not going to weigh myself for a few days, as I would probably cry. I was only over by about 400 calories in the end as we walked a lot but it is natural to worry you have…

The key is the length of time you are doing this. If you spend the day strolling around some large estate looking at flowers, it will not seem like exercise but the calories are very slowly adding up. I would log this as very slow walking, which is probably about the equivalent effort to your under-desk pedaling. See what…

I just measured out how much cream cheese was on my flatbread for lunch on the scale. Thinking about it, most people would think I had gone a bit crazy!

I weigh myself every day because I find it interesting, but it may be a bit obsessive for some. And you have to accept that sometimes your weight might go up for no apparent reason. If you would rather, you can wait for seven days or even a month to see what difference the change has made ... it's up to you really, what…

I have just started the 16:8 diet. I eat between 2 and 10 pm (can't give up late-night snacks!) and skip breakfast. Apparently there are health benefits to doing this and it's not been too bad so far.

I am hungry this morning after a brisk walk. I find a handful of almonds and a big mug of tea (with stevia) helps to keep me going until my next proper meal.

Keep reducing body fat %, do a range of exercises to help tone muscle. Focus on core-strengthening exercises, combined with cardio (lots of walking, running or swimming) and some HIIT. Lift weights as well. I think a combination of exercises is the key, rather than doing the same thing every day. I find kickboxing (done…

I see the running group at the gym sometimes. It always strikes me how slim they all are. The people in spinning, kickboxing, circuit and aqua aerobics classes do not have the same body shape (instructors included). So if you want to be slimmer, maybe a switch to running is worth a try.

Yes you need to work out how many calories you are burning with your exercise (including walking), add them to MFP and I have no idea what this workout video is like but if you are really working hard and pushing yourself with a high heart rate you might be burning 200 calories. I would add 150 to be on the safe side. Plus…

Yes I always overestimate on calorie-dense foods like pizza and nuts. Lettuce does not really matter so much. One cup of lettuce is 5 calories so a measurement mistake is not going to be such a big deal.

I do not eat 1500 every day. Some days I do no exercise, so I stick to 1200 calories. My weight loss goal on FP is 2.2 lbs a week. If this is "aggressive", shouldn't I be losing weight faster? I am not losing 2.2 lbs a week, this week my weight has not gone down at all. I am not feeling all that hungry either. I am quite…

Hi Timothy, thanks for your reply. If metabolism has little to do with losing weight, why does this happen? http://www.foxnews.com/health/2016/05/03/contestants-on-biggest-loser-regain-weight-due-to-damaged-metabolism-study-finds.html

You don't need to eat meat, just make sure your diet is balanced and you take a vegan supplement.

I like the sense of control. You know exactly how much you have eaten each day and as long as you are under your maximum calories for a sustained period of time, you WILL get results. Plus I can still eat whatever I like, just less of it, and earn extra treats by exercising.
-
I lost a lot at the beginning and then it slowed down, like for you. The second week I weighed the same until the last day, when I suddenly lost .6 kg overnight. Who knows what's going on!? I would NOT trust MFP for exercise calories - it may be over-estimating. I know that I need to put a lot of effort in to burn 300…

Did you start exercising when you started the diet? I think weight might be more linear if your body is not adjusting to new exercise.

Thanks for the reassuring replies! I do worry about my metabolism but will stick with it as this calorie counting thing seem to work for people when they are accurate and persistent.
