As you know, Shannon, you are my MFP hero! Congratulations on your success and your 1,000th day! Thanks, as always, for being an inspiration to me and for helping me along the way. It's a slow road for me, but I'm not giving up. THANK YOU!

You are so inspiring, Shannon! As suggested somewhere along the line, you really should write a book about your experiences, success, challenges. You deserve all the accolades here and more! I will be cheering for you at the marathon in 2014!

Thank you! My trainer recommends whatever works for me as far as meals/snacks go and my hunger level, not necessarily 6 small meals. But each main meal should have at least 30g of protein. More than that is fine. I went to a nutritionist and I was not impressed. She looked at my records from my doctor's office (I have high…

I live in a suburb of Minneapolis and have been to MOA many times. Feel free to add me if you'd like to "chat" about it. I hope you choose the Twin Cities for your vacation!

So inspiring! This is not the first time I've read your story, yet it's inspiring every time. Thank you for sharing! I work with a trainer at the Y. I've done a little free weights, but mostly a combination of that and machines. It sounds like you suggest doing all free weights. That's scary to me, but maybe I'll bring it…

My problem is the sodium that goes along with a lot of the protein I like. Cheese and cottage cheese are loaded with it. I've tried the no salt added cottage cheese and didn't like it at all. Chicken and eggs have sodium. Obviously, deli lean meats do too. Any low (or no) sodium ideas? Thanks!

Tzatziki yogurt dip...I really like Hannah brand, which I found at Costco. Trader Joe's sells some as well. I've never tried it, but you can make it yourself too. Just search for tzatziki and you'll find a lot of info. I also use it as a salad dressing, a "sauce" for meats, anything. Yum!

So many yummy ideas here...thanks! I'll have to go wrap and ingredient shopping for next week's lunches. Yum!

Yes, a supportive family helps tremendously! It makes the difficult endeavor of weight loss a little bit easier!

I love Diet Coke, especially fountain with fresh squeezed lime! Yum! It's pretty much my only vice and I'm okay with it. I used to drink any diet cola, but now only Diet Coke. So if I'm at a restaurant, a party or get together and all they have is something other than Diet Coke, I pass. So I'm now drinking less diet soda.…

Brooklyn Park (northern suburb of Minneapolis) here! Welcome to MFP and Minnesota! I'm fairly new as well. Just getting really into this after a long time being half hearted about the whole thing. And I'm also looking for friends to motivate and encourage. This is an awesome site, so welcoming and helpful. Thank you all!
