I can't believe no one has yet added "Raw, UNSALTED, whole cashews"! Omg, they are my absolute FAVOURITE snack! 1/2 cup for 320 calories?! That's a LOT of cashews for few calories (relatively speaking, when compared with most other brands who offer them only salted, roasted, etc.)!

You're a little nicer than me, I was going to replace "bored" with "desperate". lol
-
Omg, that is INFURIATING!!!

Thanks for sharing!

Wow. I just got chills from reading that!

Omg, what a JERK! I mean, I can understand him feeling like he can't go on, and if you were going to receive any other place than top three it wouldn't be as bad to take the bus and then jump back into the race (although still not cool at all - but at least if you were fifth, sixth, seventh, or one hundredth you wouldn't…

http://diaryofanamateurrunner.tumblr.com That's my blog link! I'm 28 years old, and I'm training for my first full marathon. The blog is a way to log my training (with a little humour added on occasion)...

If you're not opposed to winter outdoor running, and/or treadmill running, you can DEFINITELY be ready by February! I started seriously running in April (I had been running off and on for years, but never training for anything), and set my goal race as a half-marathon in October. I didn't need NEARLY as much time as I had…

HAHAHAHA! This is awesome! Reminds me of the time that I was at my university gym, and 2 girls came in to use the stair climbers. This is NO exaggeration. Get this: They were wearing....wait for it: SKIRTS AND PLATFORM HEELS!!! They spent about 15 minutes on the machines (texting on their phones and chatting all the…

Mr. Social (sorry, but it really is usually a guy who is guilty of this): The guy who walks cockily through the gym, and tries to strike up a conversation with the girl that he's been obviously eyeing since he arrived. He has no idea how annoying it is to be actually trying to workout and have someone attempt to converse…

The competitor: The person who gets on the treadmill right next to you, and thinks he/she is being covert in checking out your speed and incline (while in reality, it's totally obvious that they're looking over at your screen), and just HAS to increase THEIR speed/incline to just slightly higher than yours, and acts like…

The key is to NEVER try ANYTHING new on race day....Go with the tried and true foods, warm ups, and beverages that you've become accustomed to throughout your training. If you've never tried a bagel with peanut butter prior to running, race day is NOT the day to do it! Stick with your usual. Same with water vs. Gatorade.…

YUM! That sounds delicious! (And EASY!)
-
Excellent work! You look great! Keep it up! :)

I have a blog chronicling my journey/training to my first full marathon, if you're interested! I try to inject humour every now and again (although sometimes it falls flat, I think... :) http://diaryofanamateurrunner.tumblr.com

That's fantastic! And you look GREAT, by the way!

Hey there! I'm running the full marathon (my first....I'm TERRIFIED!!!), and my husband is running the half! (I'm the MFP member that MissAnjy was referring to)....
-
So THAT'S where Scott was hired.....lol

I personally like Shreddies, or a multi-grain type of cereal on race mornings....Although, you'll probably want to be cautious about the amount of fiber that you're consuming, if you know what I mean! lol I also often eat a banana (the potassium helps prevent cramps)....You could always do a peanut butter and banana…

Steam 4 cups of broccoli in the microwave for 5 minutes (with just two TBSPs of water in the bottom of the bowl), and then once it's done, toss it in 1/4 Calorie-Wise Italian dressing, and if you'd like, add 1/4 cup low-fat shredded cheddar cheese....SO yummy!

I had gall bladder disease and gall stones back when I was 18 (ten years ago, now).....It took nearly a year to diagnose, because I DIDN'T have any of the normal contributing factors! I wasn't overweight, I didn't smoke, I didn't have high blood pressure, I was "too young" (or so they thought!), etc. The surgery itself was…

I ran my first 5K this past spring. It was an AWESOME experience, despite the fact that it was held during a torrential downpour (literally), and it was FREEZING! I ended up coming in as the FIRST overall female! I couldn't even believe it. My time was 23:56. I was pretty proud of myself! I would definitely recommend…

Yellow: Sun, galoshes, and lemonade! Brown

I think this is my first official "bump"!

There would be room to run on the spot, or do jumping jacks, or jump rope. Don't let the rain, the kids, or the small house be excuses. You can do it!
-
Continuous jumping jacks are an AWESOME way to get your heart rate up.....Or jumping rope. Another option would be to run the stairs (if you have access to any inside of your house). You COULD always run around your house. You may feel a little silly, but it's a good workout if you can take it seriously!

LOL I'm a teacher, so I feel your pain! I've been able to train for my marathon at whatever time of day I want, since I have the summer off, and it's been AWESOME! Now I'm back to teaching in two days, and will have to try to fit my training in around work, parent-teacher interviews, marking, report card times, etc!

You don't typically want to skip a long run, so I'd suggest doing the 9 miles, BUT, I would take a rest day tomorrow (or the day after you do your 9 miles)...So if you have a speed workout or a tempo run scheduled, see if you can push that to some other day in the week.... You won't want to run just 5 miles today, and then…
-
When is your next "hard" or "speed" workout? Also, is 9 miles the longest distance that you've run so far?

Try: ludgerclay. He's an extreme ultra-runner!
