I love my light rye bread toasted with a wee little bit of butter. I don't have it every day but I have it when I want it. I don't believe in eliminating the things I love. I suggest you try using less butter. You'd be surprised how satisfied you are with just a little bit of butter, you don't need to slather it on…

Two days ago I bought gas for the car and the woman that processes your payment (old style gas station that you can't pay at the pump!) commented on how thin I was and then asked me if I was sick! lol, uhm no, I just eat less and move more.

I love it on Mondays and Fridays (I work from home two days a week!)

Same. I only log my gardening when I've spent hours in the hot sun turning the beds and planting. I also log push mowing, we have a pretty big yard. I don't bother with house cleaning as my heart rate doesn't really elevate that much from it.

I drink hot water all the time...but that's because it's FREEZING out!! Stupid winter!! I don't know if there are any benefits other than keeping my hands and insides toasty warm.

Love it! I rarely feel like the "tortured" dieter that can't have the things I want anymore. The reality is, I can have what I want, I just have to decide if I want to use up all my calories in one place or not. It's much easier once you realize you have a choice and you're not being told you can't have something. I…

I grocery shop on Sunday's with the weeks lunches and dinners in mind. I keep life rather simple eating oatmeal or soup at lunch and my snacks are usually yogurt, jello, fruit and veggies. I suspect that your most spontaneous moments are in the evenings when everyone suddenly decides to go to the bar or out for dinner,…

Sorry, this might not be the supportive feedback you were looking for, but it shouldn't matter if your husband eats what he wants. He's not the one trying to change and lose weight, you are. I've lost nearly 50 lbs since last March and I did it by myself and I'm a mother of two teenage girls that also eat whatever they…

My closet always had a variety of sizes in it and it seems I always eventually gained the weight back and ended up using every size! NOT THIS TIME! I donate all clothes as they become too big. I've been buying really inexpensive clothes along the way (and stole a few pair of pants from my teenage daughters!) but haven't…

Same! I usually skip breakfast because I'm not hungry until 11:30ish. I eat a small lunch, usually soup or oatmeal with a veggie, a fruit and yogurt. I may have a veggie snack around 3pm to hold me over until dinner, which is my biggest meal of the day. I like to leave room for a 8pm snack of popcorn or frozen yogurt. Pick…

Road runner! Best cartoon ever!

actually, I should have only copied the part about plumpness being associated with beauty and wealth. I don't like the idea of the corset!! OUCH. But if plumpness meant wealth, well damn, 47lbs ago I was millionaire goddess!!!

I use my lunch hour to go for walks because I know after an hour commute followed by making dinner and cleaning up that I won't have the energy or the will to exercise. As for the treats...that's a hard one. Pop a piece of gum in your mouth, I find mint takes away my graving for sweets. You could also keep some of those…

Very true, most exorcisms usually result in levitation and projectile vomit, which wouldn't burn a thing, but might get you labelled bulimic!

I love sweet potato fries/wedges. I don't eat a lot of them as the calorie count can add up quickly. Be sure to weigh them to get an accurate calorie count.

Damn...So this post isn't about evil fat possessing your body?? And I was all ready for a fat exorcism!! sorry, couldn't resist....

The history of a calorie. Long article but at least it's factual! http://www.chemheritage.org/discover/media/magazine/articles/29-1-counting-calories.aspx The idea of calories and assigning the number of calories one should eat to maintain weight dates back to the late 1800's. This is my favorite part of the write-up...I…

Do you weight yourself daily? I only weigh in once a week which is scary enough! Your diary looked fine to me so I would suggest that your body is just retaining fluids, no worries, give it a couple days.

I actually tailored my eating to fit into this "syndrome". I'm not really a breakfast person so I skip that meal and basically moved it to the nighttime. Now around 8pm I have 300 or more calories to play with so I have popcorn or frozen yogurt or whatever I feel like snacking on in range. It's helped me stay on track for…

Be careful with the "for the most part". Losing weight when you are pretty much at goal is very difficult and there's just not room for error. We tend to relax over time on measuring and weighing because we have a pretty good handle on eyeballing things but it's always good to go back to basics when your weight fluctuates.

I had pineapple cake just last night (angel food mix with a can of pineapple, mix and bake). I also have frozen yogurt a lot, and don't get me started about alcohol! I'm still recouping from a wine hangover from Sunday :drinker: I have certain things that I have to avoid because I can't control the portions. Homemade…

I'm not perimenopausal yet, I'm 43, but definitely suffer from fatigue and when I started MFP I was 182lbs (I'm also 5'5"). I started last march and I'm down to 135 now. I love to walk so that's my primary exercise. At the beginning I felt a little overwhelmed by the counting and weighing and logging and trying to exercise…

I took a quick look but I only saw a few days where you logged. I think I'd start with logging consistently and double check how many calories you should be eating in a day. If you're not losing weight eating 1700-1800 calories a day then odds are you're eating too much and not at an adequate deficit to lose weight.

I've been a serial dieter for 30 years and I've always gained back the weight. The number one reason that has happened was because the type of diets I've done over the years involved restricting my eating in a very unnatural way, a way that I couldn't possibly maintain moving forward. Example, Atkins diet. I've done that…

Both my kids were spanked at one time or another and they've turned out just fine, no violent tendencies. My husband and I were very strict about instilling good behavior, respect and manners before age 6 (before they went to school). We never had to spank beyond that age, we switched to taking things away or time…

I used to weigh in on Mondays and found that it was my worst result day. Weekends are usually when I allow myself a treat or two so I found switching to Fridays gave me the rest of the week to correct what I did on the weekend. I also find it much easier to reduce calories during the week while I'm at work.

Hi Minnie! I think we're weight loss twins!

I was just thinking the same thing today. How can I make sure this time? I've lost 46-47lbs and I'm at the thinnest I've been in 20 years, but I've lost weight many times successfully over the past 30 years on almost every diet you can imagine, but I've never ever maintained my weight for even a year. This time around I've…

Hi, I'm from Ontario as well and I'm sick and tired of Winter!! That being said, I rarely exercise outdoors anyways! I like to walk on my lunch hour out in our warehouse. I have an office job so it's a nice break mid-day. In all honesty I'm terribly lazy and my 46lbs weight loss has been 90% diet and 10% exercise. Now that…

I only record what I feel is a real weight gain. E.g. I took three weeks off from weighing both my body and my food and didn't track (I was on a vacation/cruise) so when I got back I weighed in and had gained something like 9lbs. I recorded the weight gain. But last week I was away in Vancouver for 4 days and gained 3 lbs…
