  • That it's something I'll have to do forever! I hate that I can't just be someone that's just skinny and always will be regardless of what I eat. Soooo, yeah, basically I hate everything about dieting! :-)
  • My company just bought standing desks and offered them to any employee that's interested. I took them up on the offer and I love it. I find that just by standing more I tend to move around, leave my desk area more often etc. The desk is adjustable so you can sit when you need to. The only downside would be the ache in my…
  • I had lost 52 lbs and I've gained back 22lbs of it in the last year and a half....probably more than half of it in the last 8 months. When I'm not logging things I slowly start increasing my portions, I drink too much and I stop exercising. I've always yoyo'd but I'm trying to be accountable sooner so I gain less. I'm not…
  • Now I want bacon! :s
  • Junk food isn't really something I crave all that often, but last night I had a chocolate croissant and the night before that I had 5 minute mccain french fries. I try to eat either eat what I'm craving or enjoy but within my daily calorie allowance. Sometimes I save up my calories during the week so I can really enjoy…
  • open your diary so we can take a peak and give you advice.
  • I'm so sorry for your loss. :-( Sometimes in life you just need to do whatever it takes to feel happy so don't beat yourself up if you need to treat yourself to a few of your favorite things to cheer you up. Maybe think of some meals that you and your Dad would enjoy together and celebrate your happy memories of him. When…
  • Maybe start with one or two simple changes, give up the coke and switch it out for water. Go for a walk three times a week. Small things that help you generate motivation. Nothing like a pair of spandex to remind you why you want to improve the way you eat!!
  • Oh boy can I relate. I hit my goal weight and maintained it for a bit then went off the rails and have gained back 14lbs. Not too bad considering how much I was eating and drinking and not exercising. I got to a point where I was too afraid to get on the scale to see how bad the damage was. In all honesty, if my husband…
  • I took a look through your diary and I noticed a lot of prepackaged foods. I don't know what it is about processed foods but I find when I start eating stuff like that I always get more cravings. When I switch back to fresh foods that I make it seems to be better. Also, I know my triggers. CARBS! As soon as I reduce my…
  • Hello, I'm going to be 45 in December. I'm a Mom of two and I'm back on MFP to lose the 14lbs I gained back after hitting my goal weight last year. I've always struggled with weight loss...or should I say weight gain. I have very little trouble losing the weight if I just log accurately and exercise moderately (mostly…
  • Are you eating back your exercise calories? Perhaps there's a combination of not properly weighing food and logging correctly and overestimating your exercise burn? When you say plateau how long has it been since you lost any weight at all? The closer you get to a normal BMI the slower you lose weight.
  • That's the exact drink I had this weekend! I didn't need the sweetner, I'm sweet enough :-) I also make sure to measure my shots...keeping in mind that most shot glasses are 1-1/2 ounces so make sure you are aware of that when you're logging.

  • I'm super lazy, so I usually grab a packet of plain oatmeal, a medium apple and cut it up into the oatmeal with a tsp of splenda. I'll usually bring a yogurt and some snap peas to get me through the afternoon. I sometimes swap out oatmeal for a half can of soup. The oatmeal is more filling though.
  • I usually make enough for leftovers, but it's quickly packaged to use as my lunch the next day or if there's enough I'll prepackage two lunches. My brain is very slow to react to the food I eat so I don't get that full feeling either right away. So what I've discovered is if I eat my meal and just wait 10 minutes before…
  • You have a great attitude and I think you're going to do great! I do basically the same thing. If I make a stir fry the rest of the family will put it over rice, I'll just eat the stir fry without it. Save a lot of calories. And I do spaghetti squash instead of noodles when we have spaghetti night. Just small adjustments.…
  • I don't even eat breakfast! I consume 300 cals around mid day and the balance is dinner and an evening snack. I choose to eat this way because it suits my lifestyle, and I wanted to create a methodology of eating that I would continue for life...I know there's no way I would stick to doing something that is so opposite to…
  • Congrats on the 4lbs start, that's always great for motivation even if it is water weight! And I like your approach of focusing on the way you eat first and then starting up with exercise, I wish I had done that, instead I tried to throw everything at it all at once and ended up frustrated with my lack of success. So I…
  • I only get two good weigh in weeks a month as I start retaining water/fluids the week before my period and then of course there's the week of! So I just weight in like normal but don't let it freak me out anymore. :s
  • Hi, I was basically in maintenance mode until I went a little crazy at the beginning of the year and now I'm back to behaving and logging. You have the right idea, slow and steady. That's exactly how I approached my weight loss when I joined over two years ago. I will say though that you should never tell yourself that…
  • Hi, I've too recently put back a few pounds (8-10) but I know it's because I'm not tracking my food and my alcohol consumption. And I had stopped exercising as well! Yikes! If you are still gaining weight then you are eating too much. It's very difficult to out exercise overeating. I would suggest that you weight and…
  • Hi, I joined MFP a couple years ago and lost 52lbs which took me a year...slow and steady wins the race! I've maintained this weight loss for over a year. I tend to let myself enjoy vacations and events on weekends from time to time but tracked my food for the most part but recently this has gotten out of control and I…
  • I gave up worrying about the breakdown of salt, sugar and focus just on calories. It just gets too overwhelming to do everything right! I eat Greek yogurt everyday and carrots. I also by the bags of sugar snap peas, love them! My night time go to snack is popcorn and sometimes I go for a 1/2 cup of frozen yogurt...or if…
  • I know this goes against everyone on here but I quite often make up for bad days (the weekend!) by restricting my calories during the week. When I first started MFP a couple years ago I actually practiced the 5/2 diet where I had two days a week at 600 calories and ate at plan the rest of the week. It was a good way to…
  • I'm in Canada, and it's so cold here too. I haven't noticed a seasonal change in my weight loss pattern. I started dieting in the month of April (2013) and I fairly consistently lost 1 pound a week and by the one year mark was down 52lbs. I've always walked indoors for exercise so perhaps that helps. (I walk in my work…
  • I get two good weigh-ins a month. I try not to let it bother me, for the most part it's not weight gain but zero loss. Sometimes there's a pound or two increase. I have a *kitten* scale so if I so much as lean a little too much it changes my weight by a couple pounds!
  • I don't usually jump in and give advice because I think losing weight is so individual and what works for one person may not work for another....but...I did take a quick look at your log and I think there are a couple simple things besides the obvious WEIGHT and MEASURE everything. That's just an absolute must, you are…
  • My company has manufacturing behind the offices with a safe walking path around the outside edge. I do laps on my lunch hour for a 1/2 hour at a very very fast pace. I'm completely winded by the time I'm done. The bests part is I can't use my excuse that it's too cold or it's raining or it's too humid to exercise...it's…
  • I feel for you, I'm currently on the slippery slope. I've been at goal for nearly a year and now I'm up 5lbs. It's because I stopped logging/measuring/reading the forum. Time to get back on track! No more guessing. I have a vacation planned for the end of December so I have to get rid of these extra pounds!!
