White toast and butter, since the snow got bad and there was no brown!!

Hmm well I did a wee test with it and it was picking up every now and then but not a huge lot. I have my watch set to my dominant hand but wear it on my non dominant just to reduce sensitivity and over estimating. I’m probably being over the top by not wearing it sitting down!

Girl after my own heart! Lol

Okay, that makes a lot of sense to me. Thanks very much!

Yes, I’m over by 2800. I thought I’d explained in first post but didn’t log half of what I said for some reason. My original thought was to cut calories by around 500 a day for a few days. But wasn’t sure whether this would be counter productive I.e. starvation mode etc, because doing this would take me to about 1000 a day…

I’ve just realised that half of what I wrote in my original post has disappeared. I did give a lot more detail but somehow didn’t go through. Whoops! Thanks for all inputs!

This sounds accurate. I usually log about 350 for 90g dry weight but that’s basmati so is slightly different.
-
I think (roughly) 200g of cooked rice equals 210 calories and it’s a case of estimating what 200g of cooked rice would weigh if dry. They say it expands by 1 or 1.5 the dry weight. I hate how they label things like this because it’s confusing.
-
117 calories for 100g uncooked rice seems very low to me. I use Sainsbury’s, although it’s basmati I take. However, I’m going to look out for this as 100g as 117 cals sounds amazing!!

Well I’ve gone over by about 2800 so that’s over and above my limit of 1560. I would like to make up for this over a number of days I.e. cut calories/work extra off. I’d like to do it in a way that is not too counterproductive. I have learned a lot from last night regarding what would be a better choice to drink and to…

I understand your point and yes, I have considered how to minimise the damage next time e.g. drink less calorie dense cocktails and swap for gin slimline. Perhaps binge was the wrong word, also. I have not been under eating, it was a birthday celebration. However, what’s done is done and I do wish to balance this out. Any…

Thank you, this is great!

Okay. Will try it out. Thanks for your help! :)

So, in order to be safe, do you think it’s better if I don’t link the Fitbit with mfp and instead, put the readings in to mfp myself, altering according to whether I think it’s overestimated what I’ve burned? I feel like linking and having it adjust my calories ok it’s own could get dangerous? Maybe I’m being silly.

Thanks for all your responses, very enlightening. It feels like huge task starting out at the moment as I’ve tried and failed at SW. It’s that temptation of should I go for the diet that gives me couple of lb’s a week weight loss or the one I feel better on, and is more sustainable. It’s a hard one but my heart is telling…

Ive realised that this question is really broad and saying’cheat meal’ could mean a number of different things that would generate a variety of responses! I think the best thing for me to do would be to work it into my calories or create a deficit through the week and/or burn calories to account for it. I also wonder when…

That’s probably a good way to work it if I’m honest! I’m coming off slimming world and moving to calories and exercise as Slimming World makes me feel rubbish and there’s no flexibility. I did calories and exercise 7 years ago using mfp and lost two stones and I used to cheat most weeks but I’ve got a feeling that I wasn’t…

Ah ok. That makes sense. I will change from sedentary

Hi Mali. I’m 5’5 and have about 3.5 stones to lose. I feel like 1lb would be a little slow. On the other hand, cutting calories to 1300 a day is maybe counter productive.
-
I can handle discomfort quite well. Im good at pushing myself where exercise is concerned because I enjoy it. I've been successful on losing 1lb a week before through diet and exercise. I can also handle hunger as I've been through the pain of a shake diet haha. I have a lot of work to do for uni as I'm studying for a…

Thank you very much for your inputs :) Interesting reading

Thanks for your inputs. Okay, perhaps 2lb a week is going to be problematic for me
-
I'm 23 years old and 5'5 and would like to lose 4 stone to get me within normal range. Most of that gain has been through doing and failing at a shake diet for the past three years

Cheers, brill :)

What is the 30 day shred thing?
-
Okay thank you for your replies. Where does the exercise goals you enter come into it? Or is that just something to aim for yourself I take it?
-
Ah right I see. I lost 2 stone 2 years ago using mfp and thinking I had to keep the cals in order to lose a 1lb per week! So if I wanted to lose 2lb's a week, I would eat all my calories and in addition to that burn 500 cals?
-
Thank you for your replies! It's probably not a great idea aiming for 2lb a week then and it sounds really hard so will stick to 1lb and stay away from scales ????

Use the cross trainer (at the gym) or start running! You are better doing something more intense than walking, you burn waaaay more calories. That could be the key for you! Good luck :)

Okay thankyou Very much for the explanation ! Cleared that one up. I actually think I eat my exercise calories haha
