Why is the app increasing calories after inputted weight LOSS?
Hi there. I’ve been updating my losses on MFP for the past few months and it’s been reducing my a llowed calories by around 20 cals but today, it increased them by 200! Is this a bug?

Does this sound right, calorie wise?
Hi all. I have a feeling the app is not giving me the full calories I should get for my age/sex/weight/height but could be totally wrong! The reason I thought this is because I manually altered it a few years ago and it never really moved when I put in a new heightened ( :-( ) weight. I’m a 5’5 32yo female and weigh 16st…

Negative calorie adjustment if down as sedentary
Hi all. If I have my activity level set to not very active or sedentary, should I have negative calorie adjustments off? I would always want mfp to think I’m doing zero, then add what activity I do on to my allowable calories, rather than having a set activity level in my settings that I may or may not achieve. Is that…

Re starting
Hi all, I’m restarting as I’ve gained back most of the 2 stone that I lost early last year due to bingeing for about 3 months! I’ve tried many times to ditch my binging habit and get into the good habits I perfected last year and reaped the benefits of so well. However, onwards and upwards. Any words of encouragement from…

Need support - lost 2 stone 3lbs, gained 9lbs
Hi all I started my journey in Feb 2018 and lost 2st 3lbs. I was so chuffed and wanted to lose another 1.5 st. However I seemed to hit a plateau last November and really struggled to get my mind in the right frame (felt like no matter what I’d do, I wouldn’t start losing weight again). This went on for a while - gaining…

Never though I’d say this but struggling a lot
Hi MfPers You’ve probably seen me post before about hitting a plateau! This happened about 3-4 months ago and I’ve struggled to get below a certain weight (I’m still 1st 5lbs away from a healthy weight. I feel like nothing is working to get this weight loss kickstarted again - I did so well for the first 10 months and lost…

Smaller losses when approaching normal weight range?
Hi MFPers I’ve managed to get back in to watching my calories after Christmas but seem to be at a plateau with my weight (this has been ongoing for about 8 weeks). I would like to lose another 1stone 11lbs but to be JUST within my healthy range, I’d need to lose 1 stone 7lbs. At this stage in my loss journey, should I be…

Christmas/Hogmanay struggles
Anyone else struggling to keep into an eating routine during this period? I’ve done really well the past year in getting over two stone off and am trying to get maybe another 1 -1.5 off. But this festive season, even letting go a bit has led me to feel bloated and crappy. Want to get my mindset back to where it was two…

Manually adding calories and Fitbit
My Fitbit ran out of battery this morning when I was out doing a bit of exercise so I added some calories manually to make up for it but now it’s mucked up my calories and giving me hardly any? Fitbit has also gotten rid of the long walk which I did which is really annoying!

Not losing weight and feel like I’m holding water!
I’ve lost two stone since February and have another 2.6 to go but 1.5 until I’m in the top of the healthy weight range for my age, height. I’ve been doing well recently but seem to have stalled and it’s frustrating! I’m on 1410 a day and MFP reduces my calories every time I input weight loss so I shouldn’t think it’s a…

Advice on calories
I’ve not lost as much weight as expected last month and wondered whether calories should be cut. I’m waiting it out before doing anything as I want to make sure I haven’t become complacent so majorly tightening up my logging etc. Out of curiosity, I wanted to ask whether you thought 1410 is a satisfactory calorie goal for…

Negative calories not registering
Hi Guys I’ve been on holiday in Cyprus for 4 days and noticed that my negative calories aren’t registering any more on mfp. (Using fitbit Alta hr). They seem to show up on mfp before I put my watch on but hen as soon as I do any activity, it gives me the calories as a plus instead of subtracting from the negative calories.…

Burning more calories when abroad based on Fitbit?
Hi Guys I’m abroad in Cyprus and temperatures have been low to mid 30’s. I’ve noticed that the calories I have gained from the Fitbit seem much more than what I would’ve normally burned based on the steps I’ve done. Does anyone have any idea why? Could it be that my heart rate is higher abroad due to the heat and if so, is…

Only 1lb weight loss this month.. could it be pills?
Hi. I’ve been cico’ing since March and lost 1 stone 4lbs and have been getting on great. I’ve been doing this with the help of my Fitbit which is linked to my MFP account. Everything has been going well apart from this month, instead of losing my usual 4lb’s, I’ve only seemed to have lost 1lb!? The only thing that I’ve…

Can changing up food/exercise regularly make you avoid an eventual plateau?
I know everyone eventually plateaus after a certain amount of weight loss.... 1. how much weight generally can you lose because this happens or how much time passes before you’ll hit the plateau? 2. Also, if you change up exercise and the food you eat quite regularly, does this mean you will avoid a stall?

Thank you all
Hi Guys I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for your advice, posts and comments on the community. This has helped me to no end and has been vital in helping me continue with CICO. I started out about 3 months ago and was dubious as I’d been on slimming world for two years and literally gained and lost the same…

Lost weight despite surplus?
Hi Guys I do a monthly weigh-in and having had a big surplus of 5000 calories, I worked to cut calories through the month up to weigh-in, so I could lose my 4lb for the month. I didn’t manage to get rid of it all before weighin- I was still around 2000 over. However, I had in fact lost 6lbs in the month. Can someone…

Is this counterproductive or acceptable?
I’ve had a few days of the month where I’ve gone way over calories - this accumulated to around 5600 over. I had a fortnight to try and reduce this and I’ve managed to cut 2400 this week. My weigh in is on 26th April - I do monthly weigh in. My question is, is this likely to go against me? I cut by 1000 one day which I…

Have mfp calorie goals changed in the past few years?
I starting using MFP in 2011 and am very sure I had a similar calorie goal as now for 1lb a week loss i.e 1560. But when I look back just now, it’s showing me a 1290 calorie goal? Has mfp changed in some way since then?

Definition of plateau?
At what point do you realise that your weight is levelling off and you need to change up your eating/routine? 2/3 weeks of no weigh loss in the event of sticking rigidly to calories? Just interested here.

Calories when near goal
Hi MFP ers This is a hypothetical question as I am not at this stage yet but out of curiosity, I wondered what sort of strategy would you adopt if, say, calories to lose 1lb a week would go under 1200? Would it be a case of losing less than a 1b a week in order to reach your goal in a comfortable way? You would surely end…

Is sticking to calories really enough?
Hi MFP-ers I started back on the calorie counting and trying to eat healthy/do some more exercise. My question is, is staying within calories (without exercise) enough to get to goal? The reason I ask is because I walk about 2 miles a day through going to work and back but don’t have a lot of time to do more walking,…

Negative calorie asjustments for fitbit?!
Hi MFP-ers I’ve been using mfp in conjunction with my Fitbit in order to gauge additional calories that I am burning. On mfp, I have ‘not very active’ selected as my activity level. Is it necessary for me to enable negative calorie adjustments on my Fitbit? My initial thought is no, because I have my activity level as…

Do you wear your Fitbit even when sitting down?
I have a tendency to remove my Fitbit to avoid adding false steps through arm movement. Does anyone else do this and is it with doing? Sometimes I worry that by doing this, it’s not assessing calories burned accurately and I’ll miss out!

Advice about 2lb a week weight loss
Hi guys, I want to embark on a healthy eating and exercise weight loss goal. I want to lose 4 stone by my graduation in Novemeber and I can only do this by losing 2lb's a week until then.
