Weirdly went onto the website and it had me down as wanting to lose 1/2 lb per week, even though on the app it says 1lb! Might log it as an issue. Thanks both!

Thanks guys. That makes sense, I had assumed that sedentary meant doing virtually zero or something. I’m going to keep negative calories on then👍🏼

Hey dieharder! I’m kind of in the same boat in that I was on track for about a year then fell off the wagon. Now gained a stone and trying to do starts and not managing past 3 days. It’s so gutting considering how well things went before. It’s good to know that other people struggle too and well done to you for coming back…

88olds, thanks for your story. It’s really good to see that it is possible to climb back onto the ladder. Sometimes I’ve felt like I’d just give up and let it all go on again because messing up is so demoralising. kx7003, I feel like what’s caused this is me allowing my resistance muscle to get weaker and weaker. So I’m…

Thanks guys. I think it’s time to have a serious look at my logging and double check measurement for condiments etc because I’m sure a tablespoon becomes 1.5 or 2. I’m also unsure as well about my Fitbit, I hope it’s not over estimating calories or anything. I do have it set to being sensitive e.g. said I have it on my…

I had this exact problem last weekend. I was struggling to get back to eating sensibly and continuing the weight loss journey as I’d got used to being surrounded by crisps, chocolate and alcohol; it was a real real struggle! In fact, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to jump on the wagon again but here I am, end of day…

Yes that’s true. Today has been my day 1 and I have managed pretty well to exercise self control. When I think back to other times throughout last year that I kind of went off a wee bit, I was actually able to jump back on with little anxiety.

I haven’t bt will try this out next time!
-
Yes I have but to no avail. I take it it’s just not possible to do both :/

Hmm well about 1-2lbs. I can’t seem to get below a certain lb. the weird thing is I can almost see the gain in my lower stomach, thigh and inner knees. If it’s water retention I’m not sure what’s causing it. I do try to drink water though drinking lots of water never used to be a condition for me to lose weight.

Ok. I use a scale for everything apart from milk in my tea, which I’m more than sure I’m not going over with. I could be underestimating calories in the alcohol I drink actually or maybe when I eat out. I’m going to tighten up the logging then see what happens. I’ve lost 1 stone 12 pounds and would like to lose another 2…

I’ve lost 2lbs and I’m aiming for 4lb a month. To be fair, I was over by 1700 for the month but I wouldn’t expect that to lead to me not losing 2lbs! I also use a Fitbit with negative calories enabled so I have to make up about 100-150 calories before I start earning extra calories. Additionally, I have my Fitbit on my…

I did a Keto diet a few years ago and I would strongly advise you to avoid. Yes, you will lose weight faster because of the severe reduction in calories/carb food group but the minute you start eating carbs again, it will pile back on you and I’m talking in a matter of a week. You can fluctuate between 1 to 1.5 stones in a…

Problem solved! Thanks so much

I’m in Cyprus so two hours ahead of the UK. My watch changed time as soon as I arrived. Don’t know is that has anything to do with it? Do you think I should manually set the time?

Thanks for your responses. I’m actually starting to wonder whether the negative calorie adjustment I have selected on my fitness pal is working anymore because I seem to be getting calories very easily and have not seen a minus despite not walking much.

Just a short update, I weighed myself this morning and I was all of a sudden at my goal (not overall goal, just a holiday goal). I have no idea what happened but I’m happy! Thanks for all the advice and support!

Thanks for all your replies. Yes, the iron does cause stomach trouble though I’ve always had a tendency to be not so regular. I just didn’t think it would cause that much of an issue because I’m out of my goal for the month by 3lb’s. I am super cold actually. My ferotom levels were very low last year but I brought them up…

Okay okay this is very interesting. I log weight loss monthly and mfp automatically reduces calories based on this so I probably won’t plateau, considering I’m logging accurately and sticking to my calorie llimits? I thought it was something to do with your body getting used to the foods you eat or the exercise you do

Okay. I’m thinking I’ll see how next month weigh in goes, I’ll have a better idea. Thank you all for your input!

Okay, using the word surplus hasn’t helped here but what Tavistock said is correct. I weigh 4 weeks to the day in the morning with no clothes, on the same scale. What is TDEE again? I use a Fitbit all the time and have it linked so maybe it’s underestimating calorie burn or maybe I’m just overestimating some calories. Was…

That’s a possibility. I had messed around slightly in previous years.

I definitely set it to 1lb a week and my goal was not as low as 1290, was around what it is now. The strange thing is when I look at my diary entries, it shows nearly every day as being over by 200-400 calories which doesn’t make sense because I lost weight consistently through this time. Strange. Possibly a bug or…

Yes, you would normally gain but it’s not fat, it’s just water as you will store more of it when you introduce carbs into your diet. Moving from a keto diet was the best thing I ever did! :)

Even if the weight wasn’t coming off?

Hey Remoore Listen, I totally understand your pain, I was in the same situation as you about a month ago! Let me tell you my story. I came across MFP about 7 years ago and decided to use it to help me lose weight by counting calories and exercising (to allow myself to eat MORE calories). This was great for me and I lost 2…

Isn’t it a high TSH that presents as hypo? A low T4 and a high TSH?

Thanks for your responses, this really helps. I just wanted to make sure. Going to aim for more exercise in the future :)

I’m still confused about negative calorie adjustments ;( I have it enabled and even though I burn 25% of my deficit calories early on I’m the day, it still gives me a low amount of calories and it also changes all the time. I thought that by burning the 25% early on, it would stop adjusting and just add calories as I’ve…
