Negative calorie asjustments for fitbit?!

Hi MFP-ers

I’ve been using mfp in conjunction with my Fitbit in order to gauge additional calories that I am burning. On mfp, I have ‘not very active’ selected as my activity level.

Is it necessary for me to enable negative calorie adjustments on my Fitbit? My initial thought is no, because I have my activity level as basically zero and so any activity done on the Fitbit is always additional. Have I got this right? Would be grateful for some insight!

I have it enabled it's just in case you have a day where you don't move as much as mfp expects you to so you don't overeat once you get over 3k steps or so they calories turn into positive adjustments

When you have Sedentary (Not Very Active on mobile app) set, MFP uses the Mifflin St. Jeor equation that estimates you burn 25% more Calories than your BMR (use MFP web version to see your BMR at APPS > BMR) doing everyday activities, excluding exercise. An average person will meet that starting about 2500 steps per day. If you are in bed sick all day, you might burn fewer Calories. If you have negative adjustments enabled, none will be taken away unless you are less active than even Sedentary.

I would recommend reading through the first three posts in this thread on the MFP Fitbit Users group...

I’m still confused about negative calorie adjustments ;( I have it enabled and even though I burn 25% of my deficit calories early on I’m the day, it still gives me a low amount of calories and it also changes all the time. I thought that by burning the 25% early on, it would stop adjusting and just add calories as I’ve already gone over the threshold!?
