I don't know if I've ever really had a binge persey. I definitely have foods I find it hard to exercise portion control on; chips, chocolate, baked goods, butter etc. Fatty foods seem to do me in!

I have no intention of feeling completely deprived for the rest of my life so I work "treats" into my calories. Sometimes I go over my calories but I still eat below maintenance. It may make the process slower for me but it's definitely more sustainable.

Seconded!

I replaced sugar with fibre like many people have already mentioned.

1000 calorie deficit isn't healthy for some people. In theory I could create that big of a deficit but I definitely wouldn't be getting adequate nutrition. I'm more of a slow and steady type. I have about a 500 deficit right now, and that's sustainable to me.

I'm good at encouraging people to eat. I live food! Especially butter and chocolate (maybe try eating those to get your calories up). Feel free to add me, I'm on all the time!

I have a food scale but I don't weigh everything on it. If I make a recipe I might weigh out the majority of the individual ingredients and then guess a portion size (say 1/4 of what I made). I don't rely on the scale too much anymore. I've gotten better at estimating. I actually used to overestimate, if think I was eating…

I like to workout in the evening. I'm definitely not a morning person and the idea of getting up earlier to workout just baffles me (I realize for some people they love it, but me, not so much!). Do whatever suits you. It doesn't matter what time of day as long as you get your workout in.

I had no idea it could be from so many reasons. Although interestingly enough someone mentioned alcohol might set it off and I see more bruises after I drink (which isn't often) rather than just after working out. As well as garlic, I cook with a lot of garlic! I definitely need to see a doctor soon just to make sure…

I'm jealous, my TDEE is only about 2050 and that's working out 3x a week. Then again I'm only 5'1 and it's going to go down too as I get closer to goal :(. I'm laughing at the fun sized comment above! Congrats on your loss so far and not depriving yourself to get there :).
-
Thanks for your input. At my next physical I'll be sure to ask my doctor about them and have him look for any deficiencies when he checks my blood.

22 here. I just want to be healthy and happy :). I'm feeling a lot better since I stopped overeating and started exercising.
-
The short answer is no. A calorie deficit will cause weight loss, regardless of what you eat. For me personally I still eat some "junk" (although I'm trying to get out of the habit of labelling food as good or bad, it's just food!) but I find "healthy" foods leave me feeling more satisfied, and in general I feel better for…

I don't tell people unless they ask (my family and roommates know about it, it becomes fairly obvious when you live with me and I'm working out and weighing my food - definitely dead giveaway!). A few people have noticed and I will tell them I've lost x pounds so far or something like that. I've only recently begun to…

I think right now most Canadians are being bombarded with news stories about Rob Ford :P Anyway, I'm originally from just the GTA but I just moved out to New Brunswick for work!

Overeating is definitely a challenge I struggle with. I've found it gets easier with time. In the beginning it was tough to stop when I was full and leave food on my plate (especially at a restaurant - I paid good money for that food!). But you start a routine and eventually those extra bites just don't seem worth it.…

Let me know when you do it! I'll be coming home to Toronto for Christmas :). When I move back it would be great to meet some MFPers. For now, anyone from Fredericton?
-
I try to pay attention to the part of the MFP app that shows my weekly net calories. Despite eating over my TDEE this week I still managed to be around my weekly calorie goal. I had some days of the week where I ate less, and some where I ate more. It all balances out :)

Yesterday I was at 1000 calories (my daily goal is 1630) so I had a double fudge cookie dough blizzard :P. You don't have to eat only "healthy" things to lose weight. I've lost 30lbs so far and I eat "junk food" on a fairly regular basis (along with veggies and lean proteins of course). Are you just starting your new…

Hi! I have 60ish (I don't have a "goal weight" so not entirely sure where my endpoint will be) pounds to lose. I've lost 30 so far. Feel free to add :)

Actually pretty close! I just turned 22! 25?

18?

It's great that you calculated your BMR, however that should be the minimum you eat. Any activity (walking, working out, running errands, brushing your teeth etc) is on top of your BMR and part of your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). Find out what that is. You want to eat somewhere between your BMR and TDEE in order…

You can't target any particular area through diet or exercise. You just need to eat at a deficit and you will lose fat from all over your body, not just your stomach. I personally love carbs, and fat and protein. I haven't had trouble losing weight, while eating anything I want, as long as I'm at a deficit. Carbs usually…

I love to eat and I'm looking at getting into lifting. (Although, I do eat turkey bacon on a regular/daily basis...) ETA: I'm hoping to get into lifting soon. Right now I do more body weight oriented exercises.

I just hit 30lbs lost this week - nearly 8 months in.

I'm starting to get into setting goals. My challenges for this month are: -go to fitness class 2-3 times a week -30 day plank challenge -get my sleep schedule fixed I don't have weight goals. I don't have a GW or an UGW or anything like that. Nor do I set goals like "I want to lose ____ pounds by ______". I've never seen…
