I'm 5'8", 130 lbs, and I do size 6 in pants. Sometimes 8! I have very wide hips, so I need bigger sizes.

No two people are going to look the same at the same weight. Find the weight that satisfies YOU.

From the article.... "(i.e. if you set up a 30% caloric deficit and metabolic rate drops by 20%, your deficit is only 10% so fat loss is a lot slower than expected or predicted)" Math is not his strong suit.

Well, there's this study: http://www.medpagetoday.com/Cardiology/Strokes/37339 From my diet, I get over 2x the recommended amount.

Prices for the groceries are WAY off. Not sure about the Whopper meals.....

I have successfully worked out on an empty stomach, BUT I find that I work out a lot harder and longer when I've had a little someting to eat. You should try working out on an empty stomach to see which type you are. Before my workouts, I do a green smoothie--spinach (or other greens), berries (sometimes), and stevia leaf…

This is not correct. Some patients recovering from eating disorders need to eat 3,000 calories per day, or even more. Please be sure to consult with your doctor.

Lucky you! You seem to gain all your weight in the right places, so you look amazing in the curvy pic.

We get a $5 Starbucks card every year, no joke. But I work for a quasi-governmental agency, so it's not like a bonus is expected.

You want to be his girlfriend, and he doesn't want a relationship. I think he was being honest with you, and that you should take it at face value and not try to analyze it. It's not really that he's taking you for a ride--he said exactly what he wanted. He even called you a "friend" numerous times. I think he's been…

Google "low carb" and "metabolic advantage."

Using a food scale was very enlightening for me when I first started dieting. I recommend it big time. Over time, you get real good at eyeing your serving sizes, which comes in handy when you are at a restaurant and can't whip out the food scale.

In order to create a 1,000 a day deficit, I'd need to consume 750 net calories a day. Needless to say, I don't do that! I try to do a 500 a day deficit, but I'm not devastated if it's smaller on some days.

The double standard just speaks to a truth about our current Western culture. It's far better to be considered too thin than too fat. I have been called both in my life. It felt a LOT worse to be told I was too big.

"Clean eating" is such a curious phrase. What does it even mean? Why not say you have a "whole foods" diet, or a "mostly organic whole foods diet," or an "all my food is specially blessed by the Pope" diet? The whole "clean eating" thing gets even stranger when people start calling animal products "clean." Do some research…

OP, you said you're young.... how young?

I'm 5'8" and 137 currently. I have a small frame, so I prefer to weigh 125-130. When I go below 125, I start to look unhealthy and just . . . not quite right--like my head doesn't fit my body.

I completely don't understand this post. Pastries are a delicious treat and can be eaten in moderation. It's bad choices that ruin people's health; not pastries!

I'm in! I've been sucking at my diet lately. I'd love to lose 10 by Christmas! :)

For most people, it's probably healthiest to net at least 1,200 calories a day. But doctors are putting people on very low calorie diets all the time; it's not one size fits all. I think only a psychologist could explain why some get so angry and personal when another user eats less than that.

My personal experience as a 32 y/o otherwise healthy female is that carb counts don't matter. I personally lose weight faster when I am doing low carb because I find it curbs my appetite and I end up eating less calories. That's the only advantage of low carb for me. I have lost plenty of weight while eating a high carb…
