  • Instead of eating packaged food. You could look into buying a small bento box. If you fill them with about 1/2 rice 1/4 vegitable and 1/4 meat the volume of the container in mililiters is about the same as the number of calories in it.
  • A zip top baggie of your favorite cereal would be good. Or some granola. There's at least one good web page that lets you custom mix granola so you can get some good fiber in it.
  • As the previous posters have said, it's got next to nothing for calories, but if you want to count it, see how many meals a head lasts for and divide the number of calories in a head of lettuces by that. Calories in a head of lettuces aprox. = 80 (source listed) http://www.thecaloriecounter.com/Foods/1100/11252/2/Food.aspx
  • You could also start doing upper body exercises. If you put some food cans in a plastic bag you can do curls and such while seated. Don't do any heavy resistance stuff, but a bunch of reps with light weight should be good.
  • Go ahead and count it, the whole 8 glasses thing is myth anyway. Drinking lots of fluids isn't bad for you unless you really over do it though. Sources: http://www.snopes.com/medical/myths/8glasses.asp http://ajpregu.physiology.org/cgi/content/full/283/5/R993
