  • My boxer is leash aggressive from being attacked at a dog show by a small white fluffy thing when he was a pup. I had to stop showing him and it has taken all of my patience and a GENTLE LEADER in order to be able to take him on walks at all. Instead of being defensive, he goes on the OFFENSIVE and lunges at anything…
  • I thought I was sedentary as well, until I got my FitBit which proved me to be Lightly Active instead. If you aren't seeing results, that's when I would switch it up. As soon as I added more calories to my intake, I started to drop the last few pounds.
  • Here's where I started: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/974888-in-place-of-a-road-map-2k13 I'm 5'3" as well and I got to my maintenance weight of 110 through the absolutely fabulous help of a FitBit. I honestly couldn't figure out how many calories I was burning in a day, so I took the plunge and bought the FitBit…
  • Ditto on the sodium and the weigh-in time. I weigh in - naked - every morning after potty and before my shower and it rarely fluctuates more than one pound in either direction.
  • Exactly. Breadmaking is a fairly easy process. I make mine on a pizza stone on occasion!
  • Once I linked the accounts, I set MFP for just over my BMR and let my FitBit adjust for ALL other calories. That way I know for sure I'm getting at least my BMR in calories. I've been at maintenance since June and it's been working fabulously so far with only a 2 pound weight fluctuation up and down.
  • I am on week 4, just finished Day 1 yesterday. I signed up for a 5K Color Run on September 28th, so I sure HOPE I can do it! my main goal is to complete it in less than an hour. My *stretch* goal with the C25K program is to complete it in less than 45 minutes. If I manage to reach my stretch goal, I'm giving myself a…
  • This. My maintenance is 109, but up or down a couple pounds and I'm still fine. :)
  • It's okay. I was undereating as well, and it took 3 or 4 weeks for my body to adjust to normal eating again. The weight started to slide back down again. Patience, Padawan. Patience. :)
  • Pick up the weights again, add protein and a few hundred more calories to your meal plan and just start lifting! Go for walks or start the Couch to 5 K program (that's what I just did...I'm on week 4 now). At 5' 5", 111 pounds is a little on the low side, but it shouldn't take too long to get you back up to parr. You just…
  • You could try a wetsuit cleaner that's designed for neoprene of all sorts.
  • I did that and was amazed to discover it was too low! I was maintaining my weight, but just barely - it kept wanting to go up up up and I kept thinking, "How the heck can I drop any MORE calories?!" Well, I couldn't. I wasn't eating ENOUGH! So I started to eat more and about 3 or 4 weeks later, the weight started to come…
  • ^^This^^ There is NO WAY you can estimate that well and I can tell you honestly that even when I DON'T exercise, my body needs at least 1350 calories on a "dead" day at the office....I'm 42, 5'3" and 110 pounds-ish. You may think its a waste of time, but if you aren't losing what you think you should be, then you need to…
  • Ditto - more protein!!
  • Sorry, no sympathy: my boyfriend is in the Army; they take him away from me regularly! I have hobbies. LOTS and LOTS of hobbies!!!
  • This might help: I'm 42 years old, 5'3", and at my goal weight of 110. Frame size: petite at 32" chest, 26" waist, 34" hips. I have a sedentary desk job, and am considered "lightly active." My BMR is right around 1205. I have a FitBit Flex now which told me I was burning approximately 1600 calories per day, and taking in…
  • I love my Brooks. Started two years ago with Brooks "Ghost" for my walking and now that I'm doing C25K I just got Brooks PureFlow2 and they are fabulous.
  • LOVE my FitBit Flex! It got me those pesky last few pounds I had to lose and has kept me honest in my maintenance since then.
  • I weigh in almost daily and see my weight fluctuate by a pound or two here and there. I've turned off the MFP notifications for my wall, though. Like another poster, I got tired of seeing the same pounds/ounces "lost" each time. :)
  • Honestly, your BMR isn't much higher than 1200, so if you were following that to begin with, just "up" the calories a little bit at a time. I'm 63" and weigh 110 pounds at maintenance and with my sedentary job and "lightly active" lifestyle, I average around 1550 calories per day intake.
  • Yep, protein. Increase that protein like a crazy lot amount. I go anywhere from 60 grams at my lowest up to well over 150 grams per day. Protein helps keep you full!
  • I love using my Flex with MFP - it works fabulously! I use the FitBit to track my movement and calorie consumption, and MFP to track my intake. Also, it's actually "more" than just a pedometer, but I'm not gonna get into that here - just saying I disagree - there's plenty of threads on that issue already.
  • I use the 40/30/30 numbers and although it's tough sometimes, I make sure I at LEAST get half my body weight in grams of protein in each day.
  • ^^^THIS^^^ exactly! Planks will help tone up your core and really is an awesome exercise.
  • I got the FitBit Flex over the Jawbone simply because of the design. The Jawbone you have to plug in to your computer to upload the data whereas the FitBit uses Bluetooth. The Jawbone UP is a "bangle" style bracelet whereas the Flex is secure against my wrist and won't flop around. Yeah, that was what pretty much decided…
  • Or stationary bike. You won't be putting nearly as much pressure or weight on your knees with a bike. I also did Tai Chi when I had my knee issues - there's DVDs out there for "chair" Tai Chi which were great! David Stamp's "Chair Aerobics for Everyone - Chair Tai Chi" comes to mind here.
  • 25 minutes is an absolutely crazy fast time if you've never run one before! A lot of the first time runners that I've seen aim to try for 35 to 40 minutes. MY aim is under an hour with a stretch goal of 45 minutes, but then I have lung issues and can't run/jog for more than a few minutes at a time without my lungs flaring…
  • I took a look at a review of it, and if you're needing something in that price range, I would say it's probably as good as it's gonna get. I really use the incline features of my treadmill, but you won't get that with this one. The best you can do is use the feet: "You can leave it on level, or change the incline to either…
  • Why not have a cone each day? I drink a beer or a glass of wine every day. Okay, maybe you'll end up with lactose intolerance or something if you do it long enough? *shrugs* dunno. I still don't see why not - I have lactose intolerance and it hasn't stopped me from eating ice cream.
  • I would say "no" simply because it's incorrect grammar. It should say "If I were to ask if it WERE ok...." You got half of it right. *grin* Otherwise, the answer is not as obvious because I would say, "Sure, IIFYM."
