  • I absolutely think you can do it!!! But you will have to be very disciplined. I ran my first half marathon after I had lost 100 lbs, but I started with some smaller races. The very first race that I ran after losing all my weight was a 10K and I thought I killed it! I was so excited that I wished I would have shot for the…
  • I'm very surprised to hear that the Treadmill was lower than the heartrate monitor. That rarely happens for me. In my opinion, the heartrate monitor is a better judge of your burn than the Equipment is. But that's just me
  • That is correct! AND... you can do the same workout 2 days in a row and not burn the same calories and the HRM will tell you that. You will burn a different number of calories when you work out at different times during the day. As women, we burn differently at different times of the month even with the same workout. A HRM…
  • I've heard this about Cinnamon and have recently started taking a supplement too. Hoping that helps a little~
  • I'm in the same boat. I have several signs of it, but never formally diagnosed. I'm currently doing some progesterone therapies to help my periods stabilize, but I dont see the doc again until early May. I just want some answers as to why worked so hard only to maintain my weight. And no, its not muscle!!!! LOL
  • Exactly! Try and eat a little more. There are several forums here regarding people plateauing and not losing weight. Once they kicked up their calories, they actually end up losing weight! Reason being that you are not giving your body enough to nourish and fight fat. I know it sounds crazy, but it really works. Even just…
  • I REFUSE to give up carbs. That kind of deprivation is what leads me to binge eating. I love carbs way too much. That being said, I really need to find another way to kick my weight loss into high gear!!!
  • I started reading it, but got a little tired of it. It basically talks about clean living. While I found a lot of useful tips, after the first few chapters it started to feel a bit repetitive. But, if you're unfamiliar with the idea of clean living, its a really good source.
  • Count me in!!!
  • Polars are all pretty accurate which is why I've had 3 of them. I trust that their burn count is much more accurate than any machine is giving me! Although, I would love to count what the Elliptical says I burn! LOL Seriously, yes... count it that way!!!
  • Definitely a NSV!!!!
  • Sign up for a race! I learned to love it because I wanted to see how far I could push my body to improve. Of course, I'm paying for it a little now because I pushed too hard, but I love that feeling of accomplishment!!
  • I have been contemplating this for a while now because no matter how hard I try, I have been barely maintaining, even gaining. I'll give it a shot now, what do I have to lose??? (Aside from 30 lbs!!! LOL)
  • I've got 30 to go! Add me if you like! We all need all the support we can get now:)
  • Hi Jen! I have been using MFP for about a year now, and while my numbers don't reflect it, it really is a great tool! You'll grow to love it. Feel free to add me:)
  • I too am 5' 10" and I weigh in around 205 and I HATE being over 200. I get that same thing all the time "You don't look that big at all!!" My ideal is 175 and that will still be a few over the "Recommended Guidelines" (which I think are a load of crap anyway!!!) Anyway, when I first lost a ton of weight, I weighed in at…
  • I work for a company called Sunless Inc and we manufacture and distribute Mystic Tan, VersaSpa and Evolv Sunless Spray Tanning Systems. As some people have noted, UV Tanning isnt really good for you so there is a big boom in our industry right now. There are several places you can go and get sprayed weekly and you will…
  • I too am a runner and I've been through a few knee issues, both with torn meniscus. I've had surgery now on both knees (One knee injury was not fitness related, I fell). Go to the doctor and get it checked out. My guess is because your pounding on the pavement more you're feeling more pain. But knee pain is nothing to mess…

  • CRAP!!! I was really enjoying it!!! I guess back to Sweet and Low it is:(
  • Special K Protein Plus! I love it and cant get my day started without it!!
  • It could take up to a month. Are you feeling a difference in your clothes at all? Sometimes that's a better gauge than the scale. In fact, I'm leaning more towards how I feel in my clothes than what I see on the scale! I'm like you, I've been busting my butt for the last 2 weeks and eating quite well, but I've barely seen…
  • WOW! I've been tossing around the idea of getting one and this might be the push I needed! Thanks for the info!!!
  • I have an iPad and use the app all the time. Honestly, I love the App. I also use the App on my Droid phone. Both are great!!
  • I'm just over 5'10" and my goal is between 170 and 175. That should put me in an 8/10 size. I, like you, found that even at my smallest 20 years ago I was still a size 6. Height really disguises a lot!!!
  • Such a great feeling!!!! Good for you:)
  • Agreed!!! If you havent been running then you would only be setting yourself up for injury by running that much that fast. Gradual changes are the most healthy, most effective way to lose weight! Keep up the good work!!!
  • I was going to say NY&C. I absolutely love their pants. I just wear a belt with them. The tall lengths are great! (I'm 5'10" as well!) I have that problem with their jeans. I love them, but they are too stretched out in a few hours for me.
  • I have the same problem, but lately I've been able to really take the time and think "Is it worth it?" before I down that next vodka tonic! Its a hard lesson to learn, but it can be done. Just think... How many more hours do I have to spend on the bike to have another drink and the snacks that follow. Sounds easier said…
  • I do appreciate you taking the time to respond. Unfortunately the solutions are just not as simple as a hot bath. Manic depression/Bi Polar is so much different than that. No offense to you, but this is the type of generalisms that I fight daily from people who dont understand. I dont get the support I need from my family…
