I looked on the Fitbit forum about this, too, and also came away without an answer. I don't think they know when it'll be fixed. It really bugs me because I've been taking extra care to log my food as accurately as I can during May, so I can assess the accuracy of my Fitbit, but I need that Average Intake number. I think…

W9D3 Done! I did slow down and walk for a short time because I got a text that I needed to answer, but it was during a fairly easy stretch. I didn't drop to a walk at the steepest part, before I got the "You are halfway" message, so I think it counts. That way, I graduate on Monday with a full 5K. I really want to run the…

If you never go on outdoor bike rides, then turn off the ability for Fitbit to automatically detect that activity (look under Track Exercise in the Fitbit mobile app or Settings->Devices on the web). For the activity record already created, either delete it, or rename it to Gardening or something. You may not have been…

You don't need to set your activity level to sedentary. A lot of people do, but I don't recall seeing anyone say that you're "supposed" to. Your MFP activity level shouldn't actually change how many calories you end up with at the end of the day - with one exception. If the combination of your weight loss rate and your…

I'm using the RunDouble app and its program is 9 weeks. Week 9 is all 3 mile runs with a final 3.1 mile run. I'm using RunDouble because when I used a timed program on the treadmill indoors I got to the end (30 minute run), was nowhere near to running a 5k and was frustrated because I didn't have any guidance on how to get…

W9D2 done. A beautiful morning for a run. I really think I'm going to need to prioritize running first thing in the morning, before breakfast, if I'm going to keep running over the summer. I'm not sure how that's going to fit with our daily walks, which we also want to do early, before it gets hot. The GPS didn't mess up…

Here's a handy link to the FAQ: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10098937/faq-syncing-logging-food-exercise-calorie-adjustments-activity-levels-accuracy/p1 I used to routinely post that when I suggested reading the FAQ, but then I rearranged my bookmarks and accidentally deleted it, so I stopped posting the…

Exactly.

I would recommend that you read the FAQ found in the stickies. It answers these questions, and many more. The short answer is that no, you don't need to log your exercise in MFP. Either let your Fitbit handle it, or for things it can't handle (swimming, weight lifting, etc.), log them in Fitbit. If you want a post about…

W9D1 done. Sort of. I had to drop to a walk shortly before the 1/2 point. The hill is really getting steep at that point (probably about 10% - it gets steeper a bit later) and I just couldn't do it. However, it turns out that the GPS messed up and cut a couple of corners off, so I went further than RunDouble thought I had…

MFP just wants your eyeballs on their site, so they tell you to keep logging your exercise here. Ignore them. Log all your food in MFP, log all your exercise in Fitbit - either automatically for things like walking, running, dancing or manually for things like bicycling, weight lifting, swimming, etc. that your Fitbit…

W8D3 done! Almost there! Something seemed off with my apps today, though - I think I may not have run a full 2.75 miles. It told me I was halfway a little before I expected, but the real evidence is that I was much, much faster than last time (more than a minute and a half). It was an okay run, with less than the usual…

About all I ever push is a shopping cart, but I can confirm that my Charge HR does not count steps well if I use that arm to push the cart. The problem is not that your arm can't "swing" but that your wrist is insulated from the impact of your steps. I solve the problem by pushing the cart one-handed when I can (and I…

First, I say some bad words. :) Then, I probably try to manually log any exercise I did and let MFP use its normal estimate for the rest of the day. To be honest, though, I haven't forgotten my Fitbit in over a year. Not since I switched to the Charge HR from the One. It was easy to forget to transfer the One when I…

That is a problem with the integration between MFP and Fitbit (and one I tend to forget about when people mention discrepancies between calories allowed on MFP and Fitbit). If MFP has you on minimum calories, the math that MFP uses to calculate your calorie adjustment doesn't result in the same number of calories allowed…
-
Has your weight changed significantly since you last updated your diet/fitness profile in MFP? That will cause that kind of error.
-
Cancelling it out won't change the calories you're credited with. The automatic activity record is just so you can take a closer look at that time period. If you have a better estimate of the calories burned during your boot camp class, then log that manually instead.
-
I haven't tested it, but I doubt it will help much to take it off. I just ignore it because it isn't a significant portion of my daily steps. If it were a problem, I'd get DriveBit.

W8D2 done. Really, really hard today, but I kept running. On the positive side, my pace was a bit faster than last time.
-
That won't work unless you're willing to leave it at home. If it is in the car, it's going to count bogus steps.
-
I agree with the others that wearing on your wrist is risky. I'd hate to lose all tracking of the event though, so I'd probably take it off, put it in a Ziploc bag and put the bag someplace secure and protected. However, if you do that, make sure you turn the HR tracking to OFF. When I've tested it, I've gotten really…

Actually, I think the problem with doing a quick add calories on MFP is that would then sync over to Fitbit. But, you could then delete it from your Fitbit log, so I guess that wouldn't be too bad.
-
Sorry, but the Charge HR also records phantom steps while driving. And, since your heart rate isn't elevated while you're driving (I assume), it won't be using a HR formula to calculate calorie burn. It will be going by steps. So, you'll have the same problem. Have you tried using the DriveBit app to make the task of…

As long as MFP is working properly and syncing well with Fitbit, I follow the calories in MFP. However, for long term assessment of the combined accuracy of my Fitbit and my food logging, I tend to go to the "intake vs. burn" graph on my Fitbit profile page, so I like to make sure the "intake" values that Fitbit gets from…
-
As far as I know, food does not sync from Fitbit to MFP. Only the other way around.
-
Yes, @Wickedfaery73 , that's how I do it. If I do any exercise that can't be properly tracked by my Charge HR (yoga, for instance), I manually log it in Fitbit, not MFP.

W8D1 done! I'm surprising myself at what sort of conditions I find acceptable to run in. It was low 40s and raining lightly and I was perfectly fine with it! I didn't put it off until tomorrow (when the sun is actually expected to make an appearance) or decide to run inside on the treadmill. I seem to be getting slower…
-
Oh, I agree. You're completely right that a workout in the morning followed by a sedentary day will result in a bigger adjustment early and then a decrease in that adjustment later. And, you're right that choosing a lower activity level will make that change smaller. I was just reacting to this in the OP's question: "One…

I'm not sure, but I think if you run the Fitbit Connect app on your computer to set up the new device, it will add it. On my phone app, if I go to Devices, there's a '+' in the upper right corner which probably works. (Yes, when I touch it I got "Replace or add a device?"
